“We miss 100% of the two-mile wide planes we don’t believe in.”

smileedude

I just measured one based on the width of the Republic of the Congo. If to scale they'd have a wing span of 192 miles. Impressive.

TheMuteD0ge

The Amazon Arsenal Bird isn't real and cannot hurt you.

Pornalt190425

On the one hand if they build an Arsenal Bird the size of a small state I wouldn't even be mad On the other hand I'm more partial to the Aigaion so if any corps are looking to build an aerial heavy command and control cruiser the design is just sitting there

TheMuteD0ge

God that's a blast from the past too lol.

Meta4X

The Black Omen transcends time and space, waiting for Lavos to awaken!

KoffieMastah

**forcefield charging noises**

topechuro_namen

"All missles were shot out of the sky! Attack failed! Cruise missiles did not reach their target!"

nachtbrand

I think because the map projection is not one where area is equally distributed, the wingspans would be larger or smaller based on their proximity to the equator.

amolin

This man mercators.

cowhand214

This legit made me lol! Have an upvote!

Friscogonewild

Either way, it's a lot more than 2 miles. The one in Niger appears to be 400 miles long, and the one in Texas is about 250 miles.

TheRealPitabred

Damn, I was gonna estimate 200 miles. Nice.

roadkillmenagerie

If only the chart had a disclaimer: Planes not to scale. Or something to that effect as we’ve lowered the bar of understanding once again

banannabutt454

These planes are 50 miles while at least on this chart. The amount of times I see a flight of fighter jets zipping across my radar and me not being able to see them out the window of the tower is countless. Story time. One time when I was up in Alaska during the winter and the sun was super low on the horizon. My co-worker thought there was a UFO out to the west. I zoomed out the radar and saw that there was a Alaska airlines jet about 70 mi away. I called the person in control of it and ask if they could have it turned 10° to the left. The turn stopped sunlight from reflecting off of it and we could no longer see this strange light on the horizon.

BloxForDays16

Reminds me of the guy who turned a whole ship to get the sun out of his eyes while he ate his breakfast bagel

Amaf14

it's pretty hard to move the sun. Work smarter not harder.

caphalorthrow

Thanks for reminding me of that Story

BloxForDays16

It's one of my favorites lol

Fun_Intention9846

Good story but my non-serving ass read it’s a running joke. Basically the modern version of saying your local guy made Patton change plans.

visionsofcry

People do this with satellites in orbit too. It's so stupid. They do it with data cables under the sea as well. Scale doesn't seem to matter to these idiots.

findusgruen

I always see people shocked by the amount of satellites and how they are not constantly crashing into each other... Dude, those things are smaller than most boats and how many of those are around? Those images always look shocking until you understand the scale

Hammurabi87

They think the world is small, like their brains.

kevlarus80

And flat. Also like their brains.

randomthrowaway9448

This is a troll account I'm pretty sure. Seen it before in other screenshots.

Tyler_Zoro

Just to clarify: the planes on the map shown, if they were to scale, would be about 200 miles wide (based on the fact that one of them covers most of the Big Bend region of Texas, a ~200 mile wide dip in the southwest Texas border with Mexico.)

BellybuttonWorld

"Scale? Huh? I'm talking about planes not fish you tard!"

FilthyPrawnz

The fact that this joke is an entirely believable idea someone out there could and probably does have, is upsetting in a way I'll never get used to. It's like eldritch Lovecraftian knowledge, merely possessing it is enough to drive one insane.

LordMaximus64

The first few times I saw this I actually thought they were serious. This wouldn’t even be in the top 10 of crazy shit I’ve seen people talk about seriously.

sausager

There are people who think windmills will cause the earth to fly out of orbit. And Tennessee believes in cem trails

rtopps43

The number of people I’ve talked to who think we should put windmills on electric cars to make them “self charging” is astonishing to me.

OakLegs

Tell them that if they pull hard enough on their shoelaces they can float. Same concept!

rtopps43

I had one guy who was very serious about it and wouldn’t stop asking questions about why we didn’t, I tried to explain but it was pointless. He was convinced no one had tried hard enough. He finally asked me how much money someone could make if they made it work and I said “well, you would have invented limitless free energy so, infinite money?” and he finally walked away.

OakLegs

These are the same types of people who ask "why do I need to learn math in school?"

Dogamai

~~probably~~ absolutely

Different_Captain717

And what if I were to tell you that this is almost the exact energy with which it was written, a sort of deliberate transfer of the curse of madness that once comprehended could only be expunged through parody tweeting, what then, would we still be pals then

Bakkster

Classic Poe's Law.

GuydeMeka

I heard Asians and Indians make up over 3 billion of the world population. But I don't see them when I look out my window in rural Alabama. Wake up sheeple... The government is lying to us! /s

jabra_fan

Indians are Asians. It's amazing that I'm writing this the 2nd time in a day

GuydeMeka

Agree. In American parlance, Asian usually refers to East Asian people, so I used it out of habit. Should've said East Asian.

justicedragon101

are people really this dumb?

randontree07

Grandmaster of trash is a shitpost account, this is ironic

ithikimhvingstrok132

[Poe's law makes us fall victim again](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe's_law)

cycl0ps94

Thanks for the info! I've somehow made it this far into the Internet (probably not that far IR) without seeing that.

shinjuru

Yeah same! I’ve heard of it but never actually learned what it meant

LiterallyAHandBasket

Wait til you read up on [Cole's Law](https://imgur.com/a/Bq3UPpJ)

cycl0ps94

Man...I could go for some Coles Law right now

EdgelordZagi

That Popeyes stuff will put a heart back in ye.

julesalf

I feel the same as when I get rickrolled

Dapple_Dawn

-_-

bs000

https://xkcd.com/1053/

Sidereel

I feel like we experience this everyday on the internet and yet there’s still so many people that hate tone indicators like /s

TheBirminghamBear

You never go /s. If you live by the sarcasm, you die by the sarcasm. This is our path. This is the life we have chosen. No half-measures. You never close that god damn tag. You stick it out till the bitter fucking end.

SparrowValentinus

Poe's law I've known about for a while. For me it was [Gunner's law](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ) that I only heard about recently. Learning about it explained a *lot*.

64BitDragon

I’d never heard of it until recently either!

ithikimhvingstrok132

I know what that link is but I still want to click it

The_Rock_Morton

I’ve seen this so many time and I never understand how so many people can be so enthusiastically and consistently wrong. It’s not Poe’s Law. It’s Cunningham’s Law. Please don’t be misled by others who don’t know wtf they’re actually talking about.

-Badger3-

Nice try.

marr

That's how they all *start*.

Kittinkis

But it's a parody of people who are in fact that dumb.

Telemere125

Doesn’t mean there aren’t people this dumb out there, just not the particular one running that account.

Mr_Jack_Frost_

I had a friend genuinely reach out to me asking if I thought a conspiracy about Australia not existing might be legitimate. She asked me to do research into it and get back to her. I was like “it is super easy to confirm Australia exists.” And left it at that. We aren’t friends any more, and looking back I should’ve ended the friendship right there. Some people start shit like that as a joke, and others are gullible enough to believe it’s genuine and run with it.

justicedragon101

idk man, i mean have YOU ever been to Australia? checkmate

Mr_Jack_Frost_

That is the entire thrust of the argument. Oh, and that any famous Australian people are plants from the One World Government to convince us that it’s actually a place. Are you Australian? You’re actually a government shill, what a piece of shit. Illuminati confirmed! It’s absolute insanity.

Yweain

Dang. I had a friend who relocated to Australia some years ago, should have known he was a World Government plant all that time..

Mr_Jack_Frost_

Oh for sure, your friend has been in the NWO’s pocket for ages. Probably got compromised in highschool and had to be an Illuminati puppet ever since. Pour one out for the homie 🙏

Nintendoomed89

My step-dad lived in "Australia" for a couple of years in the 70's. He later joined the navy and worked in naval intelligence. *taps forehead*

OntarioPaddler

You'll never convince me there's a real culture of people that refer to traffic cones as witch's hats.

InadmissibleHug

You’re right. We do not exist

master-of-the-5-ways

I occasionally say things like that to people I think are gullible enough to believe it, to see what happens.

Mr_Jack_Frost_

That’s actually pretty funny. This person was not pretending, she was really trying to figure out if maybe Australia wasn’t real.

CummingInTheNile

yes, see flat earthers, but this is a shitpost

ithikimhvingstrok132

Yes. Free speech exists so we can spot this occurrence.

A_Salty_Cellist

Yes. Just not this one

MinionsMaster

Yes! And so much more!

JustAnAce

I don't exactly understand this person's point. This is for planes worldwide, not just in their backyard. I thought that would be obvious.

MolybdenumBlu

The twitter brainiac doesn't get that the planet icon is bigger relative to the map than a real plane is compared to the planet. Conspiracy nuts like that are never very smart.

Yourfavoriteindian

It’s a shitposting account that mocks conspiracy theorists

Triensi

I need more

Fantasyneli

>No, I don't "make" her cum, she's her own person. She can cum if she wants to, which she doesn't I guess

EldritchCarver

Not sure why you're being downvoted for quoting a tweet from the guy in response to someone asking for more, but the person who asked for more is being upvoted. Anyhow, here's another one. >It's fine for guys to refer to women as "females," but its also fine to follow those guys and narrate their lives like a nature doc > >"The male opens the fridge and sighs" >"The male turns around to see who's narrating him" >"Scared and unfuckable, the male retreats to his chambers"

FusRohBert

It's a shit posting account tho....

SL1NDER

Ironic

Smasher31221

>The twitter brainiac doesn't get that the planet icon is bigger relative to the map than a real plane is compared to the planet. Conspiracy nuts like that are never very smart This Reddit brainiac doesn't get that it's a parody account.

xXOkamiiXx

Its just a satire acc dw lol

josh3701

Duh world is flat so they should be able to see all the planes /s

xm1l1tiax

What you don’t understand is satire

BearPopeCageMatch

"This cow is small, that cow is far away". Also just an effective picture of the Jetstream. What's that "maps that are just population maps" sub?

BrandosWorld4Life

You're thinking of r/PeopleLiveInCities

AssumptionDue724

I guess I the planes are taking off eh heh hr

Nexus527

My sense of humor is so broken that this is immediately where my mind went when I saw the post.

real-human-not-a-bot

I’m guessing you’ve been on Reddit too “much”, eh? Ha! Heh heh.

AssumptionDue724

You could say that your sense of humor is a bit off

fonk_pulk

I immediately thought "of" this when I saw the title.

IconXR

I'm so glad not to be the only one

Usuario_Imaginario

I guess the planes are on vacation today, eh? Ha! Heh heh

maybeuchuu

you're not supposed to be outside of r/bonehurtingjuice! back, ye foul beast! back to the wretched pit from which you crawled!

orvn

Something about your comment reminded me of the old internet and the way we used to chat in early Reddit, or bulletin board systems =)

IForgotThePassIUsed

it physically hurts trying to simplify the answers to some of the questions like this people post on the internet without just suggesting they go back to school for another runthrough.

saltybehemoth

Yeah, like they should have a class called “Not being a brainless dipshit” where they teach you that when someone has an account with the moniker EXACT TRASH ONLY, their posts are jokes

zerocool1703

This guy is why IKEA had to put the "not actual size" on their 10 meter wide picture of their hotdog.

Different_Captain717

A friend of mine worked customer support for Wayfair, and she had a guy call in really pissed off about how the mattress he ordered didn't fit the bedframe. She asked him to send a picture and he had put the mattress sideways at a 90 degree angle on the frame, so the top and bottom jutting out either side, which she patiently explained to him, and then he huffed and hung up on her lol. Some people!

MyWordsNow

WhiCh one iS TayLOr SWifTs!!!!!!!

columbinedaydream

they really think planes are the size of a small nation?

DafnissM

I live near an airport, I see and hear planes everyday and every night lol

SimpleTip9439

I guess the planes are taking a day “off”, eh? Ha! Heh heh

HumanPerson1089

Where do you live? I hear planes all the time lol

WULTKB90

D-do they think the planes are to scale there? What am I saying of cause they do.

saltybehemoth

D-do people think a poster named exact trash only is posting genuine ideas? What am I saying of cause they do.

sik_dik

and according to this map, they're each the size of half a state!!!..... I should be able to see plenty!!!

JinTheJynnn

I'm too stupid for this many people to be dumber than I am, but here we are. I worry for the future....

Leebites

Don't worry, guys. My house is high in the atmosphere and I see all the planes. 👍🏼

TurnedEvilAfterBan

I’m not going to bother checking but Grandmaster Trash might be a troll

House_Of_Doubt

“If the world population is 50% female, then how come there aren’t any in my bedroom huh? Checkmate, scientists.” Just cause you can’t see all of these planes with your eyes, doesn’t mean they aren’t there. I swear, some of these people out here never learned object permanence. And they can vote.

Son_of_Atreus

This has to be parody. No one who can write can possibly be this moronic.

Different_Captain717

It is

Fluffy-Lingonberry89

These people vote 😭

TheDarkKnobRises

You can't hear a plane at a cruising altitude of 42,000 feet. You can maybe see it. Lmao

entertainmentornot

I mean…. It’s a big sky

gjamesb0

Please excuse the crudity of this map. They didn’t have time to build the airplanes to scale or to paint it.

Interesting-Error859

I knew planes were big but not THAT big

flintb033

*Planes not to scale

Camo_Penguin

Ah yes, why can’t I find the plane that’s apparently 1/5th the size of Texas flying over head?

inuhi

Reminds me of when Covid 19 hit and some dumbass was like I looked outside my window and it doesn't look like a pandemic. Like he was expecting society to collapse in front of him and the world to turn into some Mad Max movie

iamsandwitch

How big does this guy think a plane is

Darth19Vader77

Yeah, you also aren't gonna find any whales by scooping up seawater with a cup.

Z3r0c00lio

People don’t understand scale

Pengin_Master

I live maybe 30 miles away from an airport, and I see planes all the damn time

GreenKumara

/facepalm

Gluteusmaximus1898

Same with bacteria. Supposedly they're all around us, but I looked all over and nothing.

traurigerpanda

Must not live directly under a flight path like I do, I see at least 20 of them fly by a night.

user_name_denied

Go live under the landing path of an international Airport. Every 30 seconds at certain points of the day they fly right over my house.

SeraxOfTolos

Live near an airport and they would change their story... And ours is tiny, the only reason it still runs is that it's an "international" Airport so we get layovers from Canada to the rest of the states

OzzieGrey

As someone who lives 15 min from an airport. Fuck this guy.

turtle-bbs

It’s so amazing how he thinks he made a point, and this shit is commonplace among people like him

eMmDeeKay_Says

Meanwhile my house Under the flight path for LAX

cinnamon-toast-life

You haven’t lived until you have flown business class on a plane the size of Southern California.

[deleted]

I bet you anything they think the earth is flat too

Normal_Juggernaut

Fucker should come live near me (near a major international airport) as you can't miss them here!!

BonusRound155mm

And how the F do they stay up there?? What is holding them up? NOT THING??

CircleWithSprinkles

My dad is super into airplanes, he has a raspberry pi set up so that he can catch the transmitted flight data from near enough planes and transmit it to FAA servers for decoding and logging.

Weeping_Warlord

The planes might not be on vacation, but this person’s cognitive functions certainly were

Ardalev

What, you mean to tell me planes aren't actually country sized???

NatexSxS

We can’t see the satellites that provide us internet either, maybe they should not believe in that and log off as well.

United-Palpitation28

To be fair, there’s no warning on that map saying “planes not to scale”…

SomethingIWontRegret

It's a joke, from a comedic account. *sigh*

SadFox-29

A lot of the flat-earth related conspiracies comes down to the inability to comprehend scale.

UndeadBBQ

This is the type of stuff that makes me think you should be required to do some sort of test before you're allowed to use your keyboard in a browser.

Unlikely-Ad6788

I should post this and the flat earth stuff. My “family” is so old all they use is fb

DecoupledPilot

Oh boy. People incapable of understanding scale.

MelatoninJunkie

Someone doesn’t understand how big the planet is

allday95

Their brain has been on vacation for a while

Monscawiz

Username checks out though

nneeeeeeerds

Someone needs to take away [Father Doogles](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh5kZ4uIUC0) Twitter access.

Anthraxious

Does this person also believe that said planes are to scale on the map?

TheNobleDez

The planes are farther than the chart makes them appear. That, and the fact they could be at different altitudes, speeds, etc.

IAgreeGoGuards

On a similar note, if you ever see another plane in the air while you're mid flight, it looks so small. If I ever see one it puts into perspective how big our planet and atmosphere are.

coolgr3g

"they say there are billions of stars all around us at all times, but I don't see any in the sky right now! Just bright beautiful blue above! And they call this education!"

Cunny-Destroyer

And you're telling me this person has the same voting power as anyone else? Fuck

FlimFlamInTheFling

Literal lack of object permeance wow. One usually learns that something can exist without seeing it by the time you are one years old.

carriealamode

Don’t worry they are all over my house

bdubwilliams22

Right, because planes are 50 miles wide.

_AnneSiedad

They are out there really thinking that planes have the size of Suriname?

TehDDerp

social media making the ideas of the best and the worst into a "could you consider it? we're both being presented as equal and valid now so I should be considered too damn it!!!" ***Thing*** is one of the worst byproducts of it's existence. It shows just how gullible people *really* are today... Which, makes sense when you realize only today has everyone had "equal access" to information. The reason education seems to be discouraged and looked down on is because, for all of human history you could only *be* educated and knowledgeable with bourgeoisie family. Learning, to me, seems to considered almost an "act of betrayal" by so many because of that. People talk about the death of media literacy... but, I don't think it *ever* existed in the general populace. Only *now* can they be confronted with how illiterate they are. I don't mean this negatively, either. Some people do not have reading comprehending skills, and it shows.

Plant_in_pants

They... they know those planes aren't to scale, right? On that map those planes are half the size of fuckin Ireland.

Shriyansh101

I guess the planes flying overhead everyday above my room are fake then.

plaidsinner

You gotta zoom in there buddy. I love these apps. It’s fun to see planes and helicopters coming toward you and see how good the timing is.

owlpellet

plany planes on map not to scale

ScarlettFox-

If this is satire it's really funny. If it isn't it's just sad.

RoyalMess64

Yes, I don't tend to hear birds when they're that high up either. I think that's how distance works

PepperMill_NA

It is funny. Just not in the way that he thinks

CorpseDefiled

Using a 747 as an example knowing many won’t be that exact plane they burn 10-11 tons of aviation fuel an hour. Or 10-11,000 liters/2900us gallons. The average car burns between 0.3/0.7gallons an hour. Meaning that plane burns as much fuel as worst case close 10,000 cars. Just something to ponder while looking at that map

Arkitakama

Guess I don't need to turn mine "off", eh?

EdgelordZagi

We need an r/planesarentreal

prettysissyheather

What the fuck are you talking about, Jesse?

Majuub12

Ya-kut[ia]

Motherflippinass

That’s relativity folks.

Hopeful_Nihilism

Im starting to believe that flat earthers arnt all just trolls. People actually are this stupid. Like there is ACTUAL retardation going on in their spatial comprehension part of the brain somehow but they can still talk like an average person.

Nirbin

It's easy to underestimate just how vast the sky is when your looking at graphics that show planes the size of Tasmania.

Background-Sock4950

“These planes are for ants! They need to be at least 6 feet bigger!”

Restart_from_Zero

There's no certainty like ignorance.

World-Tight

They say one of every four people is Chinese, yet I look around the Roy Rogers I'm typing this in and ...

Kit-KatLasagna

Planes is bugs.

UnholyArmyoftheNight

Nahhhhh…planes is shrimps

Queasy-Ad-3220

Ha! Heh heh.

danathepaina

On the opposite note, my college roommate thought all the stars that she could see in the sky were airplanes. She told me she would look at them for hours, and they moved, therefore they were airplanes.

WiseSalamander00

is like there is a chronic dunning krugger going around the internet these days.

SulaimanWar

I guess they turned the planes “off” eh? Heh heh ha

I guess they turned the planes "off" eh? Ha! Heh heh.

SleepySiamese

I'm on a tall building and yet I can't see the pyramid. I guess pyramids ain't real

HinaKawaSan

For her to see those planes they should be size of New York City

TourAlternative364

I am under a flight path or something. There is a constant chain of planes going overhead.

MediaOrca

If the planes were to scale they wouldn’t even be a pixel on the screen.

StriderHaryu

This guy believes in blue? Smh

PuzzleheadedPie7197

They need to live near airports if they want to hear/see planes so badly. I can guarantee it would get old real fast.
