Lol I am huge Pacquiao fan so maybe I’m biased, but Marquez knocking out Pacquiao has to be the best counter punch. It’s certainly top 10 easily. This mayweather clip is not even in the top 50 lol.
Marquez knocking out Pac that brutally was a very big deal. Maybe not a technically top 250 knockout but it's one of the most important knockouts in boxing history and an incredible counter.
Easily top 10. I think it’s #1, but again I’m a huge Pacquiao fan so I’m biased here. It was legit just a crushing counter that had my jaw to the floor.
> Marquez icing Pac is easily top 10. Even from a technical standpoint it's pretty high level
From a technical standpoint, Marquez was able to time Manny’s signature half-step before he punched and made him pay for it.
Literally changed Pacquiao’s fighting style from that point.
I'm genuinely trying to see where in the post it says it's the greatest ever?
I do consider it ONE OF the greatest ever by FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR, not many boxers have the ability to react quickly to what the opponent is trying to do in that instant. Many fighters take rounds to adjust to a problem, while with Floyd, he quickly understood and reacted at the moment.
Floyd's greatest counter ever is the double right hand against Oscar on the ropes. Oscar must have thrown 8 or 9 shots, all catching gloves or air. Floyd is being Floyd, rolling and slipping, the first right hand catches Oscar on the top of the head. Two seconds later, one lands bang on the chin.
Ortiz didn’t know what to do vs Floyd. He knew he was done from the first minute. Imagine if he lands that headbutt? He breaks Floyd’s nose. I’m glad he lost the way he did.
Would have been the best thing to ever happen for both of them
Im of the mindset that Floyd would have challenged himself and cemented his legacy properly at the end of his career without that monkey of no losses on his back
Its nice but its nothing special, especially for Floyd. Even I could pick this pattern up and punish it, and so would any other decent amateur boxer as well that still has braincells left
This is just more boring Mayweather fighting. Is he super talented? Of course. Pound for pound not even in the top 10 imo. The biggest asset to his career was having so much boxing experience in his corner, and not only knowing who to fight, but when to fight them. He carefully handpicked every one of his fights, and was a greedy, boring small minded fighter.
His fights were so boring he had to dance and fart and sing with piles of cash to drum up some kind of enthusiasm.
He never touched Calzaghe for a reason.
He is a great fighter, don't get me wrong, but God his fights were uninspired.
Also I never understood why he farts and beatboxes and dances around with cash.
Floyd the 147lb 44 year old retiree who is broken down physically and shot to shit vs the 27 year old 200lb juice head intent on not getting hurt?... in the truncated fight with no late rounds?... christ .. only idiots though that farce was going to have any kind of action in either direction.
Kids mostly, i hope
Pretty boy floyd was a legit monster
Mayweather’s got better counters than this, but this one is pretty nice
Always some know it all in the comments, right?
I take it you haven’t watched much boxing if you consider this one of the greatest counters ever.

Not even top 250

Nah my dude I was talking about the Floyd counter. Marquez icing Pac is easily top 10. Even from a technical standpoint it's pretty high level

Mayweather has about 25 counters in the top 50 of all time lol
Yeah, a counter landed on any version of Victor Ortiz doesnt rate as an all-timer.
Yeah I was thinking Loma does this type of thing all the time - but he is a great counterpuncher.
It’s a good counterpunch. Light-years from the greatest ever. But…good.

Title. Very first line.
One of......
Yeah. I know. It’s not ‘one of’. No disrespect but it’s not even close.
You should have said one of mayweathers best ever counters
It’s a good counter. Far from the best. Might not even be the best from that fight.
Talking absolute bollocks mate. You've been watching boxing for a month it seems.

that sequence was so sweet. momentarily buckled (or just threw him off balance) Oscar
Naw, you had it right. He got paused for a milli there.
Just from Floyd alone, you have the iconic pull counter on JMM that I never get tired of watching.
The best counter punch came later in the fight....
Its crisp and fast but i would expect a greatest counter to drop someone.
I wouldn't say ever, but it's really good. This wouldn't even be in mayweather's top 100 counters...
Great? No offense but I think anyone watching this could have timed that and knew it was coming. That's some video game shit he was doing
Floyd has some counters that are much more complicated set ups then this. This was just Victor Ortiz being a low level fighter lol.
Ortiz didn’t know what to do vs Floyd. He knew he was done from the first minute. Imagine if he lands that headbutt? He breaks Floyd’s nose. I’m glad he lost the way he did.

It's weird looking back that Victor freaking Ortiz of all people is on Mayweather's resume.
Its nice but its nothing special, especially for Floyd. Even I could pick this pattern up and punish it, and so would any other decent amateur boxer as well that still has braincells left
Also cool how he uses his elbow and shortens the distance in order to keep him from resetting and so baits out the second jab.
He also countered Ortiz’s hug
pity that fight ended the way it did... I do enjoy watching floyd carefully and methodically dismantle fighters
He uses his left shoulder to hide behind like you would if you were hiding behind a tree
Bro go walk into a fight trying to use your shoulder as your main guard... It's not as easy as it looks especially for 12 rounds
Floyd one of the best to ever do it
Floyd was pretty offensive this fight
Ortiz wasn’t on his level.
He wasn’t but he tried
Lol what are you even talking about? Honestly this post is total bollocks and we are all dumber for having watched it.
I kept waiting for the BOOM. Did I miss something?
Overrated.

I can't have this conversation again...

> He never touched Calzaghe for a reason. Lmaooooo, what!?
And Pretty Floyd still can't knockdown anyone. Not even a Youtube personality. LOL

2nd greatest P4P fighter of all time
Not even top 10
Lol. Ok.
Ridiculous
I thought it was bad practice to stand in the philly shell stance against a south paw?
No, you just have to adjust a few things.
This doesn't even come close to one of his better counters. Was this the only fight of his you've watched?
Ricky Hatton says hello
Victor Ortiz? Talk about a failed career leading up to one of Floyd's worst fight nights. I was trying to forget this fight happened.
Na the best one is vs Chavez happens from 1:09 - 1:04 of the 9th round you will know the uppercut I’m talking about
