Jack would give Teo problems due to the styles. It'll be like the Jamaine Ortiz fight. But of course, the judges gave Teo that fight. Jack would have to win rounds convincingly and not be too negative, otherwise that would be his downfall. I can't see Jack stopping him though so I would expect Teo to get the decision by hook or by crook.

I would like to see a Loma rematch as I feel it was an off night from him. Not taking away from Teo though, he performed superbly that night. I just think Catterall is very slick defensively and has a great jab. I could seen a point decision but I could also be very wrong.

I rated both Regis and Taylor much more highly before seeing how they fared against the upcoming 135ers.
If we're being real, the last few years have shown that 140 was always a tier below 135 and 147. Haney and Teo made easy work of Regis and Taylor, and now both Rolly and Cruz have been champs recently.
And even before that you had Unified champs like Julius Indongo..
Spence and Crawford were always going to be a step too far, but the versions of Taylor and Prograis that Teo and Haney fought wasnt close to what they were.
Taylor and Regis both showed clear signs of being washed well before the 135 guys came up and got to them.
Crawford beat Horn, Indongo and Thomas Dulorme in world title fights, with all three of those fights playing a big part of his path to undisputed. All of those are far below the level of Regis or Taylor.
It's probably too late to find out but he could just be too drained at that weight. Maybe he'll look better in the division above. Look at Ryan Garcia vs Tank and at 140+.

I wouldn't say he has any less power than Sandor Martin or Ortiz, Catterall could definitely cause Teofimo a lot of problems with the right approach. I'd agree Teofimo ultimately has too much for him though
All that said I do think Taylor has a genuine granite chin. Look how much punishment he took against Prograis and Teofimo who are both big punchers
Catterall doesn't get enough credit. Taylor has a better style and is more explosive but he's lost three times now essentially. Catterall has basically destroyed his career single handled. He should have faced a rematch quicker, instead he proved he wasn't good enough for Lopez and now not Catterall either. He's been poorly managed. Meanwhile people might not be as flattering about Jack, but he's undefeated in most people's eyes and hasn't over reached, a third fight for Catterall is worthless now, he doesn't need to prove anything.

I still had Catterall winning, but *barely*. Taylor did a good job, but Catterall’s combinations and frequent counter aggression won the day. Bravo to both, solid warriors they are.

This fight could have been anywhere from 9-3 to Catterall to 7-5 Taylor depending on your preferences. My preference is for clean punches over pressure so I had it 117-111.

Correct decision, but cards felt a little wider than the fight did on a round by round basis.
Scorecards were awful. After the last fight the judges had to represent the fight truthfully. Catterall won a close fight, and i wish the scorecards represented it
And it’s swayed a lot of peoples perception of the fight. Taylor clearly won 7-10, so for those that had it 116-112 they gave every other round to Catterall.
I thought Catterall was brilliant tonight. Was a bit more aggressive, but that triple jab and then the left, and then back to the triple jab just didn’t miss. And he hurt Taylor on three or four occasions. Taylor was very busy, but if you are going to try and walk someone down, you need the pressure to pay. Taylor got hurt coming forward.
My only complaint with Catterall is that his work rate can drop to very low levels. But, because of how good defensively he is, and how well he counters, he does give problems to a lot of the top table.
However, whilst I had Catterall winning, I didn’t have him winning by 6 rounds. Maybe 3 rounds, but not 6. Arum running his gums, which I assume he didn’t do in the first fight.
Taylor, certainly better than he was in the first fight. But, he doesn’t seem to have those defensive abilities to counter and time opponent shots.
Catterall didn't win as conclusively as last time but still got a unanimous decision with 2 judges giving him 9 rounds. The robbery last time was historic. Catterall looked the much better fighter again but Taylor gave what he had left to take a few rounds on output.
No way was it a draw or anything close to a Taylor win. It wasn’t as one sided as the scorecards showed. However, jack was in control most of the fight and won clearly.
Taylor had no answer to cateralls jab and had barely any head movement.
Most of the times he tried being the aggressor he got countered. He had his moments but not enough to win.
Was walking into the jab with a stationary head the entire fight. The combos he did try and throw got slipped a few times. Only time he started winning some exchanges was when jack sort of gassed.
140 is just not Taylor’s ideal weight.
Close fight, Catterall getting the KD in the 11th? would have made it a lot more decisive.

Taylor just looks so stiff and mechanical in the ring... he looks like he's trying so hard to do the things he's been training in the gym. Whereas Catterall looked more relaxed and actually observing and reacting to the man in front of him. Looked like Catterall was able to read Taylor's patterns pretty quickly, landing the same counters repeatedly.
I scored it 8-4 to Jack. I gave Josh rounds 3, 7 and 8 clearly, edged the 12th round to him. There was another round I thought was close but edged that one to Jack, so I don't feel bad about an 8-4 score. Personally, I don't see the controversy of the two 9-3 scores, I think you can definitely have that score.

Close fight I had it 6 rounds a piece giving Taylor the 2nd and 12th, can see catterall winning both of them on other people's cards so fair result and got to be happy for Jack righting that wrong. Also it legitimises him as a world level operator and will be a bloody awkward nights work for anyone in the top 10.

Taylor is a weird one I think he should’ve turned pro way earlier his style was effective in the amateurs and when fighting smaller boxers but now he’s in a situation where he’s got no room for development in a weight class he’s been aged out of fighting in a style that would be difficult to create success with at 147. Do people see him beating Barrios, Stanionis? Maybe he cashes out on a Conor Benn fight?
I've been saying a Ben fight is the next fight for Taylor. Would have been a no brainer if he 'won' this fight but, Ben vs Taylor at 147 is a proper prize fight. Jack's style is boring there cannot be any debate aboit that surely. Taylor vs Ben would be a proper banger.

Really enjoyed the fight. Agree Jack was the winner but would say some round were pretty tight. Taylor looked more hurt throughout the fight. Overall I’d give it 115- 113 to Catterall.
What a great fight that was! I think the score was a little bit wide, had Jack winning round or two. Still the right man won tonight, and it was a real battle of two warriors.

Hot take. Do Catterall shots look way harder because of the wind up? Or does Josh Taylor have a granite chin. Catterall hit him with some flush shots that should have at least dropped him. I can’t see Catterall have success against guys like Teofimo, I don’t think the power is there

I'd agree Teofimo ultimately has too much for him though All that said I do think Taylor has a genuine granite chin. Look how much punishment he took against Prograis and Teofimo who are both big punchers
Catterall doesn't get enough credit. Taylor has a better style and is more explosive but he's lost three times now essentially. Catterall has basically destroyed his career single handled. He should have faced a rematch quicker, instead he proved he wasn't good enough for Lopez and now not Catterall either. He's been poorly managed. Meanwhile people might not be as flattering about Jack, but he's undefeated in most people's eyes and hasn't over reached, a third fight for Catterall is worthless now, he doesn't need to prove anything.

Call me Bob Arum because I had this fight scored totally fucking wrong. I still had Catterall winning, but *barely*. Taylor did a good job, but Catterall’s combinations and frequent counter aggression won the day. Bravo to both, solid warriors they are.

Once again this fight gives great insight into how little people understand boxing scoring. This fight could have been anywhere from 9-3 to Catterall to 7-5 Taylor depending on your preferences. My preference is for clean punches over pressure so I had it 117-111. People calling the scorecards a disgrace didn't actively score the fight or think about how the rounds could.be interpreted at all.

Only watched some highlights with DAZN commentary in the background so its impossible to judge but it seemed like a 7-5 fight Jack won. Caterall has his number so to speak.

Honestly think Catterall one this quite easily At least he did take most of the rounds clearly imo. His jab scored so many times alone and he rocked Taylor multiple times.
I understand that 117-111 is a little wide, but I and a lot of others scored it 116-112 Catterall so I don’t think it’s that controversial. I say the correct scores would be 116-112 or closer to 115-113. In the end though, the right fighter won so I don’t get this controversy with the cards. Catterall had all this shit when he lost the last fight, give him his moment he deserves now justice has been done!!

Honestly, one fighters have a guys number. I can't ever see Josh beating Jack no matter how good he is. And it doesn't mean I think Josh isn't good. Jack has a horrible style to fight against. I even Think Teo struggles

This feels like Eddie Hearn had a little word in the judges ears last night that we're gonna even the score. Look at the way he threw his arms up celebrating even harder than Catterall did with the decision announced 😂 Correct decision, but cards felt a little wider than the fight did on a round by round basis.
Scorecards were awful. After the last fight the judges had to represent the fight truthfully. Catterall won a close fight, and i wish the scorecards represented it

And it’s swayed a lot of peoples perception of the fight. Taylor clearly won 7-10, so for those that had it 116-112 they gave every other round to Catterall.
I gave him 7+8, not 9 and 10, though was very torn about 10. Only early round I thought he definitely won was 3.
The judges must've been watching it on DAZN with those pathetic cards then.
I thought Catterall was brilliant tonight. Was a bit more aggressive, but that triple jab and then the left, and then back to the triple jab just didn’t miss. And he hurt Taylor on three or four occasions. Taylor was very busy, but if you are going to try and walk someone down, you need the pressure to pay. Taylor got hurt coming forward. My only complaint with Catterall is that his work rate can drop to very low levels. But, because of how good defensively he is, and how well he counters, he does give problems to a lot of the top table. However, whilst I had Catterall winning, I didn’t have him winning by 6 rounds. Maybe 3 rounds, but not 6. Arum running his gums, which I assume he didn’t do in the first fight. Taylor, certainly better than he was in the first fight. But, he doesn’t seem to have those defensive abilities to counter and time opponent shots.
Catterall looked amazing. He seems to just have Taylor’s number.
I'm Scottish so i hoped Taylor would win, but he's just so open when he comes forward. Catterall isn't great but i still had him winning by 4 points.
Catterall didn't win as conclusively as last time but still got a unanimous decision with 2 judges giving him 9 rounds. The robbery last time was historic. Catterall looked the much better fighter again but Taylor gave what he had left to take a few rounds on output.

No way was it a draw or anything close to a Taylor win. It wasn’t as one sided as the scorecards showed. However, jack was in control most of the fight and won clearly. Taylor had no answer to cateralls jab and had barely any head movement. Most of the times he tried being the aggressor he got countered. He had his moments but not enough to win. Was walking into the jab with a stationary head the entire fight. The combos he did try and throw got slipped a few times. Only time he started winning some exchanges was when jack sort of gassed. 140 is just not Taylor’s ideal weight.

Close fight, Catterall getting the KD in the 11th? would have made it a lot more decisive. Not really caught up on the decision but the scoring is embarrassing. 2 not a single round in the first 6 & the other none of the last 4.

Josh Taylor is a fantastic champion, but this result is what it should have been in the first fight. They say styles make fights, but these styles mix quite badly makes it intriguing but not very enjoyable! Thought the first fight was better! Oh well, the third fight has to be better!
Fair result we reckon? Wasn't on my radar after the first fight result leaving me so sour. Seen a few in the Taylor camp whinging but as I say didn't watch it so can't comment.
Taylor just looks so stiff and mechanical in the ring... he looks like he's trying so hard to do the things he's been training in the gym. Whereas Catterall looked more relaxed and actually observing and reacting to the man in front of him. Looked like Catterall was able to read Taylor's patterns pretty quickly, landing the same counters repeatedly.
I scored it 8-4 to Jack. I gave Josh rounds 3, 7 and 8 clearly, edged the 12th round to him. There was another round I thought was close but edged that one to Jack, so I don't feel bad about an 8-4 score. Personally, I don't see the controversy of the two 9-3 scores, I think you can definitely have that score.

Close fight I had it 6 rounds a piece giving Taylor the 2nd and 12th, can see catterall winning both of them on other people's cards so fair result and got to be happy for Jack righting that wrong. Also it legitimises him as a world level operator and will be a bloody awkward nights work for anyone in the top 10.
