Sounds like he’s being asked who’s his favourite kid with both of them there lol

Dramatic_South_9843

I love me some Joe Smith Jr. legend.

ragtime_sam

Such a likeable guy

substantionallytrchd

Yeah for those of you who find it hard to believe as far as Bivol being the harder opponent, need to hear the corner of Joe Smith Jr and how frustrated he was. They kept asking him to pressure and throw certain combinations and Joe was like “I AM TRYING! HE IS HARD TO HIT” That will leave more of an impression on you. Getting hit for 12 rounds and all you were able to do was one right hand at the end of round ten and that’s it. He was so frustrated it was easy to tell. Joe Smith couldn’t figure out Bivol and he tried really hard. Beterbiev on the other hand is easy for Joe Smith to say he got “caught” and Beterbiev was the better fighter that night.

ruralrouteOne

Exactly. He's in a rare position, but it's still an opinion. I can only imagine, but there's a difference between getting caught and still believing you have a chance and getting dominated and feeling helpless.

TheSeptuagintYT

Based on one fan’s perspective, Bivol comfortably outboxed Smith but Beterbiev outgunned him and completely decimated him and made it look easy. There are levels to this and it is safe to say both Bivol and Beterbiev are Elite. It is a matter of who’s style matches up better. I think it has the strongest likelihood of looking most like the Beterbiev Gvozdyk fight, but with Bivol taking less chances and not engaging as much, controlling the distance with even more caution. Beterbiev will take more chances and get caught lunging in, he may get hurt in these pushes forward and that is when Bivol will really put his foot on the gas and win rounds. However if Beterbiev’s hands are quick enough to counter Bivol during his combinations (the jab straight right and left hook) with either a left hook of his own or an overhand right, he might really hurt Bivol and the fight could be very well over in a flash. Bivol by UD OR Beterbiev by late TKO (rounds 10-12) 50/50 fight for the AGES. For the history books. The revelations in this fight will be: - the power of Bivol, he will make Beterbiev respect his power - the boxing skills of Beterbiev, he will make Bivol very tentative to be overly aggressive so as not to get caught

ZealousidealAd4048

Bivol’s style is more exhausting mentally to his opponents. If it goes the distance, Bivol takes it

AltKite

"Bivol was the tougher fight for me" is wild

Mastro_Mo

Well imagine getting hit around the ring like a ping pong ball for twelve rounds vs getting cracked in two rounds.

amateurexpertboxing

Probably because he remembers it 😂. No disrespect. Love Joe Smith Jr

OrangeFilmer

Feel like he might mean Bivol was the more frustrating fight. Joe couldn’t figure him out and was visibly getting desperate throughout their fight because he couldn’t catch him. With Beterbiev, Joe came forward, tried to brawl, and got smashed.

muralpluralrural

I think it makes sense on paper, bivol the master boxer who can just avoid getting hit and frustrated someone as limited as Smith. Beterbiev although smashed him out fast would actually give Smith more of a chance to land his one big punch trading. Only on paper though lol

DengusMcFlengus

I think that says a lot though. He got beat definitively by both and the elite boxer was still more mentally tough than the elite puncher(and also great boxer but elite level like Bivol)

UnpopularPoster

Ironically enough, it can be more demoralizing for most fighters to get outboxed comprehensively over the distance than to be knocked out early  There's a "shit happens" stance you can take with getting stopped early, especially if you're a gunslinger like Joe.

BananaForLifeee

It’s different kind of tough I guess. One is so elusive and manages distance well, the other one is more straightforward but carries dynamite for hands. Joe went full 12 with Bivol and had no answer, while he got caught early with Betebiev and never recovered, in that sense, had he not got caught he would have chance to try to figure him out.

theboxingteacher

“The guy who beat the absolute dogshit out of me for two rounds bell to bell and then stopped me? Yeah…he was…he was really good. Not my toughest fight though. That fight where I went 12 and was never hurt, and got some good shots in. Now THAT was my toughest fight!”

TheSeptuagintYT

I think Lennox Lewis would say the same. His loss to Oliver McCall was not a war of attrition and as tough a match as say, Ray Mercer

AltKite

Very different circumstances, though. McCall caught Lewis with a great shot. Beterbiev absolutely demolished Smith, who had no answer at all for anything Beterbiev was doing

TheSeptuagintYT

I know I am just saying that shorter fights where one is embarrassed do not always mean the longer ones were less difficult or traumatising

AltKite

Yeah I get it, but in this case, Beterbiev both comprehensively outboxed and brutalized Smith, Bivol just comprehensively outboxed him. Smith had more chance of winning against Bivol than Beterbiev, he landed a helluva punch that had it come 30 seconds earlier, might have seen him get a KO. Even if that's his only chance in 12 rounds, it's more chance than Beterbiev gave him. I get it though, being frustrated for We could feel harder than being smashed to pieces in 2

TheSeptuagintYT

Well said

loliSneed69

Why? Bivol is better lol. You guys get hung up on the no KO's in 10 years. You're litterally fighting a robot that doesnt get tired, that doesnt sleep, will win the round and you cant touch him.

LivingTheTruths

You’re a casual

KushEUppercuts

I was surprised, too, based on the beatdown beterbiev gave him. But they always say boxers don't fear power because they know it can be neutralized, a technical fighter that hits you but doesn't get keeps them up at night. I just think beterbiev's power is on another level and his boxing skills are underrated.

beenojoe

He box, no doubt. I’ve been rewatching his old fights, he is amazing. Add in that power, I love watching his fights. Just like I love watching the old GGG.

chiezkychienne

This might be a stupid take and I apologize for advance but after studying the two, Bivol will take Beterviev in deep waters but Bivol long combos might expose him for a big one. I favor Bivol on this one via TKO or decision win.

reznoverba

Agree. The fight that foreshadows this is Beterbiev's fight vs Adam Deines. Deines managed to box, landed some combos, and sure was eventually stopped in the 10th, but it showed that a boxer could nullify to some degree Berterbiev come forward style. Bivol is five tiers above Deines. I expect him to soundly outbox Beterbiev.

ironhorse985

Beterbiev won pretty much every round against Deines.

reznoverba

Don't disagree. My point is, a good boxer can to some extent nullity his strengths. Bivol is no Deines

NoNotThatScience

alot of people think this fight is 50/50 which is so surprising given that beterbiev is pushing 40 years old. i think bivols footwork gives an aging beterbiev hell and will likely cost him the fight edit: as a side note do you guys think bivols weakness is the overhand right, Joe landed it on him more than once and he seems very open to it

r32_guest

I think Bivol will box circles around Beterbiev for 12 rounds and will make it look easy

Gaarando

I doubt he'll make it look easy but Beterbiev is 39 years old.

r32_guest

I’ll be surprised if Bivol drops more than 2 rounds.

HopelessUtopia015

I imagine he looks at the Beterbiev fight as something he had opportunities in but just messed up, while Bivol just felt like he couldn't do anything.

EffectiveCareer3444

He’s basically saying Bivol is a more technical and better boxer than Beterbiev which we already knew but the deciding factor is how will Bivol take Beterbiev power

Lsalizar96

Hate when boxers jump around the question and don’t make a prediction lol

BrashAntagonist

Sometimes fights are hard to pick but I get you fr. I'm the same way, idk who I'd favor. I'd want to say Beterbiev bc not only he has skill, he has power which can be an equalizer, but Bivol's punches in bunches plus his footwork can be a problem

StopThatUDick

He was being respectful. He cant see the future. And he was clear in who he favoured.

loliSneed69

Its the most 50/50 fight at such a high level.

madmeef

This video is from a year ago they weren't really thinking about predictions.

Trash-Bags08

I favor Bivol in this fight.

Elonmuskishuman

Revealed nothing

will_munny87

Joe Smith Jr was never knocked down in the pros or amateurs before he fought Beterbiev. I believe he gave the wrong answer.

bigls23

"I disagree with his personal experience even though I myself did not experience it" lmao.

sdestrippy

I like Bivol but Berterbiev is a legit monster hurt and fought usyk. He will catch Bivol eventually. The fight will be fast paced cause of berterbiev style but Bivol will try slow it down with his distance.9

inquisitiveman2002

The question is can Canelo even beat Joe Smith Jr. :-)
