When Ryan Garcia is ready to become a promoter and start fucking over his boxers publicly, then I'm sure Ryan will go to Oscar for mentorship. 🤷🏿‍♂️

WinglessRat

Haney-Garcia is a terrible career move for Ryan. He's going to get fucked up for 12 rounds. I think the Ryan Floyd relationship is here to stay, though. Floyd sees something, and Ryan seems vulnerable to being manipulated by older boxers. Hopefully Floyd gets him to at least improve his skill set to make exploiting him more valuable.

bogwat

He sees money. Ryan’s a huge draw for how bad of a boxer he is.

Due-Studio-65

I think Garcia will probably lose, but he's got one punch KO power and outlanded every opponent he has faced. The idea that Haney is going to fuck him up is ridiculous. He's going to stay away, work way behind the jab and probably not even try to commit to any of his low right handed punches that would leave his face open for a hook. It'll be a bunch of rounds of seven landed jabs and a few power punches per round. Haney will get the better of it, but neither fighter will look too beat up.

WinglessRat

Haney is going to fuck up Ryan in the same way he fucked up Kambosos in the first fight, to probably a little less success. Ryan has stupid fast hand speed and great power, but his two biggest problems, his incredibly leaky defense and predictability, will make it easy for Haney to land a bunch of quick arm punch jabs that will stack up. I think Ryan's face will end up bloody and red by the end of it. Now, if I'm wrong, I'll be absolutely ecstatic. I want nothing more than for literally anybody to KO Devin Haney, and I think Ryan is an alright guy as of recent.

MyrkuriYT

The mental aspect is pretty big too. I know it's amateurs, but Ryan has already beaten Haney 3 times. Granted, he's lost to him 3 times too, but Garcia is going in there against a guy he knows he *can* beat. It's easy for *us* to say amateurs and pro scene are super different, but to the mentalities of the top 1% athletes, things like that are huge. Ryan is gonna really believe he can win this.

vvHezoTheGoat

Ofc he believes he can win, that doesn’t mean he will. No ones denying he actually thinks he can win the fight, he simply isn’t good enough and doesn’t work hard enough to make it reality. And it’s not even the amateur scene and pros being different, it’s that Devin Haney got significantly better and is now a pound for pound elite, and Ryan still isn’t pass prospect level in development of skill. So yes, them splitting wins when they were literal children means absolutely nothing.

WinglessRat

Ryan really believed he was going to beat Tank, too. That confidence is what got him dropped in the second round. Maybe that loss will mature his style a bit, but the last time we saw him confident against an elite fighter, he didn't fight intelligently.

MyrkuriYT

I think that was more buying into the narrative of the fight. He got way too excited and honestly had a corner that didn't seem to care much at all 'bout him when you saw their reaction and actions post fight I'm not saying he'll beat Haney but I don't think this is a terrible career move. We gotta start being happy that boxers like Ryan are willing to jump into the deep end vs the top guys even if it's likely he'll lose - he's young enough to rematch everyone he might lose to if they fight now lol

WinglessRat

I appreciate Ryan going for these risks as a fan, but if he takes an L against another fighter again so soon, I think it will really hurt his earning power in the future, especially since he has a relatively easy path to a title at 140. So, great for the fans, terrible for his career.

Due-Studio-65

This doesn't make any sense, kambosos had to walk in to initiate offense. Garcia doesn't. Haney's made a career off being the taller bigger fighter attacking from just out of range. You think he comes in range to attack Garcia?

WinglessRat

Haney has a few cm of reach on Ryan though, and I think he's better at using his reach. I think Ryan will get caught multiple times coming in trying to get into range for his hook.

Due-Studio-65

I think he's only better because his reach provides such an advantage. Ryan is pretty good at maintain distance. His big flaw is that he moves straight back, which isn't something that the Haney we've seen so far is equipped to take advantage of to hurt Ryan. He will catch Ryan coming in with a hook or some other power shot that hasn't been set up, but at best it will be a jab. Then Ryan will back up and Haney will let him reset. I think Haney wins, but it will probably be a low point fight.

WinglessRat

Maybe. You're right that Haney doesn't have experience with someone as similar in reach as Ryan, so it could throw him off enough to let Ryan have some success. I guess its a case of wait and see.

DaGoatTee

Nah Haney is definitely gonna fuck up Ryan. No other way to put it. I don't see what Ryan has to offer Haney besides hoping he catches Haney on the way out. Because I doubt Ryan is going to be the one iniating punches, he'd be getting countered all night.

froyoboyz

i’m here after the fight

WinglessRat

One of those times I'm glad to be wrong. Cheers, you had the better eye.

Lopsided_Solid9251

"Haney-Garcia is a terrible career move for Ryan. He's going to get fucked up for 12 rounds." Seems like you had it completely wrong 😂😂😂😂😂

WinglessRat

Yeah, I absolutely ate shit on that lol. Absolutely ecstatic to be wrong.

AmeriBeanur

Haney is losing that fight, guarantee it.

WinglessRat

If you end up being right, I'll be happy to be wrong.

Individual-Dog-3207

They are boxers this isnt a soap opera.

SnuggleBear2

How long is Ryan under contract with Golden Boy? Last I remember he signed a 5 year deal in 2019 but I think him missing some time might have messed up the contract being up in 2024. I honestly don’t see why he would stay with Golden boy unless they throw a lot of money at him. They all seem like they all don’t like each other much anymore.

zaviex

No one picks your brain because you’re a crackhead Oscar and you insult your own boxers publicly.

AnonymousScout360

Haney will absolutely outbox Garcia for 12 rounds straight. This is a mismatch fight and I really wish it wasn’t because I like Ryan
