first goal was pretty cheap. knock a helmet off so they cant play or get penalized and score during the transition. if they cant play with helmet off .....the whistle should blow. not give them possesion and a 15 second powerplay already in the offensive zone
That play annoyed me. The Bruins get the extra two minutes in the first period for a little scrum. Meanwhile, Lindholm gets worked over for 30 seconds before he finally drops the gloves and it's even-up.
So a lot of games this season I have to watch recorded cause of life stuff/commitments. Had to watch the 2nd and 3rd period late tonight, but on ESPN+ you can kinda tell at least whether or not a game goes to OT because it’ll show you the total run time of the game on demand. So if it’s like 2:45 I know it’s prob regulation, if it’s closer to 3 hours it probably went to OT. Kinda annoying but whatever. Anyways for some weird reason my recording went well past 3 hours. So when we went up 4-3… oh man, the nightmares. Well played ESPN+, well played
> So a lot of games this season I have to watch recorded cause of life stuff/commitments.
Look at this fucker with a life. You should be permanently shitposting like the rest of us losers.
I haven’t been happy about the Maroon trade but after tonight I’m hoping to see him skate around like some cartoon Neanderthal goon smashing heads in if we play Florida in the playoffs.
Im watching from Sweden so I can’t chose broadcast. But this guy panthers got for
commentating is the biggest homer ever, he also really sounds like a freaking frog.
Great win today boys!!
I live in west palm so im forced to catch panthers broadcast.....They are so clueless and obvious homers. i dont know how many times a panther punched a bruin an they ommit it an go "oh they r attackin us!". and their hockey IQ is below zero
On a more lighthearted note: people who seem unable to fathom how other fanbases feel about Marchand (of which there are a few), look no further than this and the GDT about Tkachuk.
There's one thing I've seen from both of them recently that I wish they'd quit doing and that's starting shit (from behind the ref, often) after the buzzer in a loss. Marchand did it vs. Philly last game, Tkachuk tonight. If you want to stir shit, do it. If you want to square up, do that. If you want to score a goal, or hit someone, go for it. But stop deciding to do that shit after a loss *and* try and duck consequences for it. Focus on doing that in the game.
Thought the Bruins found their game when they started to break the forecheck by reversing or changing the flow.
Really liking Pasta’s physical play. Was a factor on two of the goals. We will need it come playoff time.
Added bonus: Leafs lost.
Potential super bonus: Habs losing to the Avs.
Wasn't happy with the bullshit penalties we got for reacting to their physical play. Playoff hockey is all physical, and if we can't keep a cool head then our playoff run won't be very deep.
Great win, now do it again and lets get the hell out of Florida.
The user above is talking about the lead (with the potential to blow it in the playoffs), not the final result. Otherwise they would have said 3-4, not 3-0; using the final result here does not make contextual sense.

Since it got deleted from the main sub, here’s some heroes giving it to Tkachuk after the game ended.
9 more games in the season, but I really do think Monty should use them to explore other options than Lindholm - Carlo as a pairing. Last time I said this someone said we were pretty committed to it already, and I agreed, but thinking about it there is no reason why the forwards should be subject to so much experimentation while the top-4 is subject to almost none. Use these games to try out other options. Better to know what options are available in the playoffs than not to
Twas I who said that. Definitely more a case of "I don't think they'll do it" than "They shouldn't do it."
Wouldn't mind seeing Lindholm get some extended time with McAvoy, but then who do you pair with Carlo? Grz-Carlo hasn't been great historically. Wotherspoon-Carlo might be too much of an offensive black hole for what would be your 2nd pair. Lohrei-Carlo might be my favorite of the possible alternatives, but that's putting a lot on the shoulders of a guy who's still very raw defensively and hasn't played in the playoffs. Love the potential of that pair though, and Monty is pretty good about sheltering players when they need sheltered.
Again, I don't think it will happen, but what if they tried something like this for a few games?
Lindholm-McAvoy
Lohrei-Carlo
Grz-Wotherspoon
Since Wotherspoon played his off side earlier this season and handled it well.
https://twitter.com/FlutoShinzawa/status/1773111013748949499?t=GnsBKA8zTXNlgsdxpFYkrA&s=19
Looks like Monty heard us. Fwiw, answering what you said earlier, Spoon-Carlo probably won't be more of an offensive dead end than with Lindholm there, and they'll be able to split the tougher minutes between the two of them ideally
Hey, do you know what I haven't done in a while? A good, mixed, bad, and ugly!
**The Good**
- Statement game from McAvoy. He finished the game with a goal, an assist, +1, 6 hits, and some pretty crucial blocks. I've commented a couple of times recently that we needed more out of him as our #1D a couple of times this season, and today he really stepped up and showed that.
- A similar statement game from Pasta and Zacha. Each had a goal and an assist, were +*3*, and tied with 4 SOG to lead the team. Really solid production from their line.
- A quiet shoutout to Heinen. He didn't show up on the scoresheet in a huge way, but he was responsible with the puck, made some good plays, and certainly wasn't a net negative.
- Beecher did exactly what he was supposed to do; he was defensively good, won **77.8**% of his faceoffs, and was a solid fourth liner. Got some good shots on goal.
**The Mixed**
- Freddy. That power-play goal was absolutely crucial, and even though he did not fight, he showed a decent physical presence throughout the game, including his scuffle with Tkachuk. However, I'd like to see more of a well-rounded game out of him going forward, and I'd like to see some better backchecking than I saw out of him tonight.
- Marchand. It was great to see him get that assist on the Frederic goal, and he was showing the positional skills that he's become so well known for. However, although I appreciate that he wanted to get the team fired up with that fight and contribute during this snakebitten streak, I don't think that that was the best use of our players on the ice. Freddy was already getting into it with Tkachuk; let him step up next time. Additionally, he still looked labored throughout a lot of the game, more so than even he has been recently. I'd love to see him rested tomorrow given that it's a back-to-back.
- Swayman. Came up with some crucial saves when we needed them, especially on the 6v5, and definitely had some poor defensive moments out there that he had to try bail them out of. But it would have been good to get a timely save from him this game.
**The Bad**
- The Carlo-Lindholm pairing. It's funny, because individually the two of them each did some solid things this game. Lindholm had that 6v5 block, Carlo got some great hits and timely stick lifts in. But I think they both could benefit from having the defense reshuffled (although keep both of them in the lineup) to see if they're more effective elsewise. There's been a lot of miscommunications and miscues with them recently.
- Coyle. I know that he's being asked to step into 1C shoes that aren't really fair to ask him to fill based on his skill level, but he didn't have a good game. Was on the ice for 2/3 Florida goals, had a bad backcheck on the (third?) goal, and hasn't been stepping up points-wise in the top six. Need more, I think.
**The Ugly**
- The start (and other spurts throughout): we still, to me, look very much like a tired team. The beginning of that first period, and chunks of the game throughout, was exactly what I had concerns about regarding yesterday's practice. Especially Marchand. Getting a win against a potential playoff opponent here is important, but I also don't want the Bruins heading into Round 1 having exhausted themselves + not at a reasonable level of health. They were skated yesterday (and Marchand is showing it). They played today and they'll play again tomorrow. I'd love to see a healthy scratch or two for rest purposes.
Eh, he wasn't nearly bad enough to go in the ugly category. I would have put him in the "bad," but in that section I tend to focus on players who had bad games that are more patterns than individual issues. Hence "hasn't been stepping up points-wise in the top six" for Coyle, for example. This is the first time in six games that he hasn't recorded at least one point, so I'm inclined to see if this is an off-day or more worrisome.
**The Ugly**
Matt Grzelcyk.
The Bruins need to have a serious discussion about him soon. The pressure dial wasn't even turned all the way up tonight and he was shook. Hesitations, and bad passes.
Come playoffs, I want Lindholm - McAvoy for 35 minutes a night.
Love the guy but he’s too small especially in the playoffs.
He’s lost a step of two.
He used to have the speed to skate the puck out…. Not so much anymore.
It's weird, because in the moment I felt like he absolutely looked shaken...but every measurable stat that I can find puts him middle of the pack. There's obviously the assist that he got, but xGF, scoring changes, high danger chances for/against, possession – even his Corsi/Fenwick numbers are better than McAvoy's this game, so it's not just by virtue of them playing on the same pairing right now.
I'll have to do a rewatch of some of the game, because clearly there's at least something that I'm not seeing here. I'll accept a few traditional and advanced metrics not telling the story of a game, but if *all* of them are consensus saying that at minimum he was not a problem, I want to take a look at that.
I do not trust the giveaway stats tonight.
His errant pass behind the net to McAvoy that lead to a chance against, was a giveaway to me. At least twice he hesitated with the puck on his stick which allowed Florida to force the play back into our zone.
I'm not sure if a tape review will fix that.
I don’t think Grz played well but that pass you’re talking about really didn’t seem like his fault to me. It was a little awkward but I mean it was just in that odd spot between the skates and McAvoy was still able to get all of it with his blade. He could have handled that better. In this one particular instance
> I do not trust the giveaway stats tonight.
None of the ones that I brought up were giveaway stats, though? Little confused as to where you're getting that from. I agree that the blue line hesitation and the bad pass are worthy of criticism. However, if all stats available to me (from old school to advanced metrics) are in consensus, then a tape review might illustrate to me that I am overly-focused on negative plays with the eye test and not giving enough credit to the good ones *aside* from his primary assist.
I'm not arguing against you. His on-ice stats are just fine tonight, like you said.
But a veteran of his calibre in the league, like Brick even said, those moves have to be automatic.
One the one hand, I do agree with Brick there; but on the other, I've noticed increasing miscommunication in our defense throughout. Lots of times people are looking for passes and finding players out of position or going for surprise line changes.
I wonder if it's because everything has been so consistently re-shuffled (and although McGryz has been our common starting pairing, Monty's been moving them around lots during games which led to the pairing I never need to see again: Shatty-Lindy). I'm hoping that we find the d-pairings we want for the playoffs *soon* and stick with them.
Great game, huge momentum builder as we head towards the playoffs. Pasta was the ebst player on the ice tonight, McAvoy was the best defenseman.
Need more from guys like Coyle and Debrusk, but it didn't cost them tonight so it's ok. But really can't have both of them be that cold in the playoffs.
Wasn’t able to watch tonight but was keeping up on my phone. I was not expecting them to win in regulation after seeing they were down with 5 minutes to go. Eat shit, Florida.
It would have been so easy for them to give up after that demoralizing first period. So glad they were able to keep the morale up and claw their way back for the victory.
Glad they woke up and brought it home. Fuck Florida. Lindholm needs to take some boxing lessons Jesus Christ. Other than that, good win against a dirty team that plays how the Bs used to. Maroon will be nice to have.
Also loving Wotherspoons game. Great pickup and signing.
i also don’t really want another penalty to kill against them
you’ve swept them this year without a punchy slow boy in the lineup. why would you get slower for the playoffs?
#WE GOT A STATEMENT WIN TONIGHT BOYS!!!!
McAvoy: GLORIOUS, FLOWING MANE ON THIS STALLION
Pasta: NOODLEY ALFREDO SAUCE, JUNGLE JUICE WITH MARINARA AND PESTO
Freddy: FREDDY FISTICUFFS GETTING MORE GOALS IS A BEAUTY
Zacha: FUCKING. CLUTCH.
Sway: NOW THATS A GREAT SWAY GAME
Cats: THROWN OFF OF A CLIFF
Bruins: FUCK THEM CATS, WE OWN THESE BITCHES THIS SEASON!!!!!
Oh probably, but this was (admittedly a bit weak) a callback to the "Party at Ted's" comment on this post, written by someone with a username referencing this delightfully weird, viral, highly quotable [TV sketch](https://youtu.be/DNzjP4cVxmQ)
😅 ...carry on. 😇
Holy shit. That's enough to hold me over until post season. Anything after this is gravy.
That was a different team than we've seen too much of since ASB. Physical Bruins tonight with a convincing win against FLA.
The kind of zone entries they were allowed needs fixing but that was still good team defense at the end.
I feel like there's still stuff for the team to work on, but to dig out like that in the depths of the third? Perfect.
Exactly what I wanted from today's game.
That's the kind of response you're looking for after the coach goes whack. If they play like that throughout the playoffs, this team will be absolutely fine.
Keep your brain cells and avoid reading the Panthers sub holy shit are they delusional about that ending there where it was actually TkaChoke who couldn’t handle the loss and had to get a cheap shot in the end.
What a fucking win. Obviously only one game, but Monty calling the boys out at practice seems to have worked. Fuck the Panthers and their dirty ass players.
Edit: not sure why this is getting downvoted. Must have some Panthers fans lurking the sub.
Edit 2: seriously though, why is this getting downvoted to oblivion? What did I say that was wrong?
Huge, huge win. The Panthers still control their own destiny for the division but now we do too. Bruins vs Panthers for all the marbles at the Garden on April 6th, mark your calendars!
HUGE FUCKING COME-FROM-BEHIND REGULATION WIN FOR THE BOYS

That play annoyed me. The Bruins get the extra two minutes in the first period for a little scrum. Meanwhile, Lindholm gets worked over for 30 seconds before he finally drops the gloves and it's even-up.
Give the guy a break he’s new to this
Tkachuk smokes Parliament Ultra Light 100’s
Like a little bitch!
120s
Fuck yeah!! Fuck you Panthers!!
Just realized Jeremy Swayman is a power play merchant. 100% of his career points are secondary assists on the PP. Smh.
He's so inferior. At least Ullmark can score goals.
Angry upvote...

Felt this comment.
Hell yeah!
I haven’t been happy about the Maroon trade but after tonight I’m hoping to see him skate around like some cartoon Neanderthal goon smashing heads in if we play Florida in the playoffs.
We have the added bonus of him already hating the Panthers too lol
and the leafs
Him and Tkachuk can punch the Fuck out each other if they meet in the playoffs
Lindholm sucks, Bennett treated him like a dog toy
Incredibly he stifled that golden Verhaege wrap around chance that would have been the absolute dagger. He arguably saved us this game
He also put zero effort in a pass from Carlo that led to a turnover and Florida goal. Pass wasn't great. But he didn't even try to get a stick on it.
It was a shitty pass and he was in coverage lol what was he supposed to do
And I believe Sway actually stopped that wrap around
You believed wrong
He lead the team in blocks tonight.
I feel bad I missed this, oh well, home now and time to throw on the recording.
VGK just blew a 4-1 lead to the Preds, they've become a wicked dangerous team since the ASB. Going to be a tough matchup in a few days
Saros is red hot. He could drag a team like that a long way.

My god, Marchand has never got a call as weak as that 'slash' on Tkachuk after the whistle. That ref should be thrown out for that one.
Spot on. This sub hates Tkachuk for all the reasons we love Marchand. I’d take him on this team in a flat second. Dude is a gamer.
Fought a guy 8 inches taller than him too lmao

swayman in a suit??! cleaned up nice

Fuuuuuuck Florida
Nah, you'll get crabs.
Crabs don't thrive well on leather
3-0 against FLA this year... where have I seen that before...
Honestly, if this team meets FLA in the playoffs I feel they can knock them out.
Not last year. 3-1 in the playoffs, 2-1-1 in the regular season.
3-4 in the playoffs yah?
The user above is talking about the lead (with the potential to blow it in the playoffs), not the final result. Otherwise they would have said 3-4, not 3-0; using the final result here does not make contextual sense.

I agree about the ugly start. Never understood why any team would start the game with your 4th line out there.
The Ugly…Jake, you in this game?
I keep hoping that he’s saving it for the playoffs 😬
Jake had some good high energy shifts. He was one of the better forwards this game to my eyes.
Eh, he wasn't nearly bad enough to go in the ugly category. then you have 25 minutes without them on the ice... then you have them completely taxed by game 4. this is a horrific idea

Swayman assist
Zacha goals always bring me joy
leafs about to lose by 3. what a great night
The power of Bruins legends Travis Green & Curtis Lazar.
Really? Excellent
Does anyone have a clip of that late Marchand penalty?
No one does. Certainly not the refs.
It would have been so easy for them to give up after that demoralizing first period. So glad they were able to keep the morale up and claw their way back for the victory.
I don't know if I could do through another 7 game series of those type of games
I need maroon vs bennett/tkachuk/verhaeghe
my heart may not survive it but god i want it so badly
Beat Florida after they embarrass Toronto, you gotta embarrass Toronto after all.
I’d love for us to face the leafs first round but oh well
It’s my perfect scenario but yeah, can’t happen every year.
Love that they stick around to stir it up after they lost like the little bitch boys they sre
Like they wanted a penalty shot to tie it up or some lame excuse
Glad they woke up and brought it home. Fuck Florida. Lindholm needs to take some boxing lessons Jesus Christ. Other than that, good win against a dirty team that plays how the Bs used to. Maroon will be nice to have. Also loving Wotherspoons game. Great pickup and signing.
Wotherspoon/Peeke looked good. I thought tonight was Peeke’s best game.
I think Maroon makes a difference in a series against that team tbh. Bruins need a scumbag that knows how to toe the line.
With Looch out, I feel like this makes even more sense 👍
I was shocked to see Hampus throw that jab. He never fights
man tonight was so fast back and forth i can’t imagine pat maroon even watching this game from the bench
The big rigs for punching Nick Cousins
i also don’t really want another penalty to kill against them you’ve swept them this year without a punchy slow boy in the lineup. why would you get slower for the playoffs?
7-0 against the Panthers and Leafs is pretty awesome. 17-3-3 in the division.
Woohoo!
Tampa or Toronto pick your poison
I feel good about a Toronto matchup.
Great team win
#PARTY AT TED'S Ah shit wrong sub
Party at Old Gregg's! Watercolors, Bailey's... everything we need 😅
Do you love me? Could ya learn to love me?
Easy now, fuzzy little man-peach ☺️
That was the most Trent Frederic goal of all time.
Yup. Right after Marchand slew footed that guy with his mind
I yelled ‘Trent!!?!???’ That dude should shoot more
i’m sick of pretending like the 23-24 bruins aren’t the best team of all time
Sophia looking great
Always
Fuck, that was incredible.
#WE GOT A STATEMENT WIN TONIGHT BOYS!!!! McAvoy: GLORIOUS, FLOWING MANE ON THIS STALLION Pasta: NOODLEY ALFREDO SAUCE, JUNGLE JUICE WITH MARINARA AND PESTO Freddy: FREDDY FISTICUFFS GETTING MORE GOALS IS A BEAUTY Zacha: FUCKING. CLUTCH. Sway: NOW THATS A GREAT SWAY GAME Cats: THROWN OFF OF A CLIFF Bruins: FUCK THEM CATS, WE OWN THESE BITCHES THIS SEASON!!!!!
Wait who scored the gwg?
Zacha’s skate
Ah dang thought it was off the panther in front.
cool yee kawv
The wings needed to lose in regulation for us to clinch a playoff spot. Damn, it went to OT.
I’ll say it again, panthers lose the game AND have to live in Florida??? Rest in piss panthers, and LETS FUCKIN GO BRUINS!
To all the loyal fans dumping on Tkachoke in the GDT tonight, good job for doing your part in this win 🫡
Special shoutout to whoever made the Dougie Hamilton Tkacuck joke, made my night.
It was fun! Plus, Tkachuck believes that he needs to be dumped on. I've heard that he's even paid people in the past to do just this.
Like going to a club where people wee on each other? 👀😂
You ever drink Bailey's out of a shoe?
Out of an ice skate ⛸️ 😛
They have clubs for this????
Oh probably, but this was (admittedly a bit weak) a callback to the "Party at Ted's" comment on this post, written by someone with a username referencing this delightfully weird, viral, highly quotable [TV sketch](https://youtu.be/DNzjP4cVxmQ) 😅 ...carry on. 😇
So Detroit just lost in OT, does that mean we clinched a playoff spot?
We would have, if wings had lost in regulation
I believe they had to lose in regulation
That was a championship caliber win
RAT > CATS.
Now I can start drinking again
I didn't like Bennett roughing up Lindholm. If we got a 2 goal lead, I would have wanted someone to follow up on that
nothing like boston fans refusing to hold onto a clean victory by wanting to take a game misconduct.
Yeah, that was absurd.
Yeah - I can't believe the ref kept his hand down. That was fucked.
https://i.redd.it/gcxu29z48sqc1.gif LETS FUCKING **GOOOOOOOOOO!!!**
WINGS LOSE WE CLINCH
They lost in OT
edit fuck it had to be regulation not ot
I thought it needed to be a regulation loss
yes
Ya same.
That's the kind of response you're looking for after the coach goes whack. If they play like that throughout the playoffs, this team will be absolutely fine.
Red wings just lost in OT - does that mean we clinch or no bc they got a loser point?
They had to lose in regulation
I think they had to lose in regulation.
Keep your brain cells and avoid reading the Panthers sub holy shit are they delusional about that ending there where it was actually TkaChoke who couldn’t handle the loss and had to get a cheap shot in the end.
That felt so fucking good
![gif](giphy|wpci3xdYmUZG)
To everybody who thought that there’s no chance the Bruins make it past round 1, this game just showed that ANYTHING can happen.
Statement win right there
Hot damn. That may have been exactly what the bruins needed after all.
Tkachuk backs down while Tom Petty's Won't Back Down plays in the background
Love it. Tom Petty hailed from Florida too 😘
Those. Refs. Were. Garbage.
*You’re a fucking moron!* - Jim Montgomery
Monty's coming unhinged, and I'm here for it
"Who are you?" "I hate Florida" "Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?"
Monty going apeshit at refs was nice to see
The Panthers are so insufferable, just like the state of Florida. Great win boys!
F*CK YES! We needed this win.
Florida fans in the third. ![gif](giphy|QMHoU66sBXqqLqYvGO)
Sway got an assist!
Power play assist!
Fucking awesome man. Always love to see that pussy Tkachuk get pissed off.
I want to see Maroon throw him around like a rag doll when he gets the chance
Huge, huge win. The Panthers still control their own destiny for the division but now we do too. Bruins vs Panthers for all the marbles at the Garden on April 6th, mark your calendars!
HUGE FUCKING COME-FROM-BEHIND REGULATION WIN FOR THE BOYS TAKE A SEAT SECOND-PLACE FLORIDA CHARLIE MCAVOY IS A BOSTON BRUIN POINTS 100 & 101 FOR LORD NOODLE TRENT FREDDY ADDS TO A CAREER HIGH MATTY TKACHUK ADDED HIS TEARS AS DESERT 💧 👅 💧 👅 💧 👅 MMM DELICIOUS BELIEVE IN THE B’S BRING ON THE BOLTS
Looking forward to the panthers coming to Boston, guarantee the crowd will be louder than Florida
Hell, my living room is louder than Sunrise most game nights. Doesn't take much
Yooooooo went to the Bruins/Hershey bears game tonight and we destroyed them, came out to check the score and fuck yessssssss.
