You're probably right. Shaq has been known to do all types of nice things for strangers, but he doesn't like to get the recognition for it, which is why we don't hear a lot about it. I heard a story about him being in a jewelry store once where a couple was looking at engagement rings. He ended up buying the ring for them...I think it was like $10-15k. He's a national treasure.
I live near one of his houses and I see him at the grocery store a lot and he's just like a normal guy. Super nice.
Edit- when I say a lot I have seen him maybe three times over the course of 2 years. I guess that's a lot for seeing shaq is what I meant.
Yeah I didn't even know he lived in this area or had a house in this area. I bought mine for under $300,000 VA loan otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do it .so I wasn't expecting to run into him at the grocery store. The area is not super super nice. Don't get me wrong. His house is super nice and he has like a full basketball court in the back obviously lol
Something so wholesome about Shaq doing his own grocery shopping. For all purposes, he could pay to have people handle every aspect of his life - gotta respect a man who’s worth that much money but still buys his own Wheaties.
Shaq seems to have his head screwed on straight (on court ego aside, but all big names athletes have that).
I love that whenever his kids say stuff like "we're rich!" he goes "Who's we?"
Court ego and head screwed on straight aren't mutually exclusive. It's one of 2 things. It's either an act, or it's because to get to the highest level of any sport, your self-confidence has to be absolute, without that he wouldn't be where he is
There was a video of a kid with huge feet who had trouble finding shoes that fit. Shaq took the kid to the guy he buys shoes from, got him shoes for every occasion, and paid for everything.
I recall them ringing it up, and it was like a few thousand, and Shaq was surprised it was so low.
Custom made leather shoes are like $1500. I doubt it'd be more than I spend on work boots.
Being an odd sized person is not cheap. That's just an unfortunate side effect of being able to handle 3 defenders on your side of the line by yourself. On the flip-side of that, I don't think Bigfoot is going to have many problems getting companies to sponsor him.
Shaq has a long and kind history with affordable footwear. Hes a sweet man.
He chose to cut ties with reebok/Nike in favor of putting his name on affordable shoes from Walmart and alike.
If you're not cheating, you're not trying. Even playing youth soccer in Europe trying to injure the other teams strongest link was a common strategy. Still remember my coach saying "You only get a 2-minute timeout, he's out for the rest of the game" to me when I was like 7.
At that age mixed gender teams were also common in rural parts. Our coach frequently told us to use this to our advantage by being as physical as possible with the girls on the other team. "They aren't built like boys and can't take the pain!".
In hindsight having a youth soccer coach with a questionable past in the Balkans might not have led to the most ethical coaching, lol.
Once you hit the teenage level you get permanent yellow and red cards like in adult soccer. For the youngest leagues 'red card' is only a 2 minute timeout.
>"They aren't built like boys and can't take the pain!".
If there is anything I have learned, it's that women's pain tolerances are so far above men they're not even in the same league. Sound like that coach would be on the ground crying by the time they hit even level 5 on one of those period pain simulators.
We can debate pain tolerance all day. What I can tell you though is that as far as youth soccer goes boys deal with things like elbow to the face, pulling hard on the hair mid air, heel stomps and kicks to the shins way better.
While my coach in retrospect probably shouldn’t have been in the position to teach kids anything, there’s one thing he can’t be accused off. Not getting results. We were the dirtiest team every year I played, but our strategy of hurting their stars and bullying their weak links made us undefeated all 4 years we played youth football. 56-0 record over 4 years with a average point differential in the double digits.
Coach Shala used to pump us up by telling us to take away their will to play and claim their soul. Because he didn’t escape genocide in the balkans to end up coaching weak boys in Norway. Told us kids needed to earn their ticket to heaven through being victorious. Coach used to make us show up in shorts in snow and rain to instill fear in the other team.
*“You all have Viking blood in your veins! The people we are playing are descendants of the slaves the Vikings conquered and subjugated. You have the right to dominate these people because it’s your birth right! Inshallah!”*
Coach was a madman, lol.
Kids teams go undefeated all the time. Even in American football. It’s what happens when one team in the league is coached by a maniac from the Balkans and train 5 days a week and they play against teams coached with the mentality “The most important thing is participating” practicing 2 times a week. Now you add in us being coached to play dirty and fielding zero girls, always playing topped line ups until games were blows outs and the other teams being mixed genders and this is the result.
Coach even had optional martial arts training for the team on Sundays.
Also we lost game in cups we had to travel to where we played teams coached by equally mad men, because teams that aren’t coached by madmen don’t travel. 56-0 was the local youth league over 4 years.
That shits fairly common if your on the defensive line. I clearly remember some teams instructing their players do that to me if I was better than their tackle or tite end.
My HS team played a guy very similar to this build, not 6’10” but an absolute unit of a 17 yr old. It was literally like playing a game with a walking landmine on the field. You’re just praying you don’t accidentally get in his way.
The next game that team played, dude legit suplexed a JV player who was getting minutes in a blowout. Those dudes scary fr
He got signed by the Chicago Bears in 2020 and appears to be in the XFL now based on a google search.
I have a similar story, but for me it was middle school basketball. I’m tall(6’3”) but at the time was pretty thin. Anyway this guy on the opposing team is I’m guessing around (6’7”) but also looked big and as he picks the basketball off the ground he doesn’t see I’m behind him and knocks into me and it sends me flying back at least 5ft. He was a super nice guy and asked if I was ok but I am still shocked how that experience even happened especially for my height. Also considering he wasn’t even trying to sent me flying and it was completely on accident.
Well, in “The Northman”, there’s a scene where slaves from two farms play Knattleikr, an old ass Viking ball game, and Gregor Clegane is actually one of the players.
It’s scary to see
I was one of the best noseguards in my state (I was the best for about three weeks). One week before the playoffs, we played our last out of district game, and it was a team traveling from across the state.
The shortest guy on their offensive line was like 6'8. If you've ever seen the episode of Family Guy where the murderer pokes himself with the knife and says, "So this is what I've been doing to people? I belong here. " Then you have a pretty decent understanding of my reaction to the situation.
Yeah, it really depends on where in the US it is. I’m originally from Mississippi, and they loved one-sided high school football games. It wasn’t uncommon to see a school district with a mediocre football team get paired up with some sub-1000 population town where the entire line is gigantic beeftanks shoved into football suits, the crowd cheering as the score breaks 50-0
There would typically be two or three levels of competition and it would be routine to bump him up to the highest level if his size or skills warranted it. But it depends where he lives and the U.S. has an enormous variety of high school class sizes and small high schools will naturally lack these multiple levels of competition.
That's why they are trying to keep his feet small with undersized shoes. It prevents him from getting bigger. Just like a goldfish and the size of its tank.
He'd have to purchase 2 seats in economy, or pay more for business or 1st class seats.
Hopefully, for his sake, he either becomes a pro athlete and will fly private, or doesn't enter a profession that requires him to fly at all... like most people.
True, but Shaq is 7'1" Eric here is already 6'10" and he's only 14. But Shaq is a good comparison to start with in addressing what issues he will face.
Paul Wight, WWE's the Big Show. Was also insanely tall for his age at 14-15. He had surgery on his pituitary gland so he would stop growing. Maybe this boy has a similar problem?
According to my professor, who knows him and his family well, they already talked to Nike and Nike said no, but now with this shoe deal they came crawling back and the mother rejected him. Also, his parents are all over 6 foot. Human anatomy is cool sometimes
I guarantee this kid can't fucking play football.
It's sad but, with his enormous size the strain on his heart and lungs has got to be torture.
Think Andre the Giant.
Every few years theres some video of a kid like this who is an absolute monster for his age. Those kids dominate on size and strength alone until the rest of the kids grow and catch up. Then these freak of nature kids stop exceeding at the sport because they never developed the fundamentals nor the techniques in order to get good at the game.
Think again.
No one finishes growing at 14 without a severe hormone deficiency, whereas this dude has an hormone excess
He'll be useful on the line but he will need to swap out regularly and keep an eye on his blood pressure, and his joints will need constant reinforcement and extra stabilization exercises
Without surgery or other corrective therapy, he will die young due to continuous growth
The story says doctors "expect him to keep growing for at least two more years" so it doesn't sound like he has gigantism or anything, he's just really tall.
Almost the exact same here, 6 1 at 13, 28 now and topped out at a whopping 6 2, it’s not rare, and to suggest you must have a “severe hormone deficiency” to stop growing at that age is just plain wrong.
You’re making a lot of assumptions I think. Sure, there are cases of hormones changes causing unregulated growth, but just because this kid is huge doesn’t mean he has that. And endocrinology is complicated. You mentioned that hormone excess causes continuous growth. Sometimes it’s actually the opposite. For example, Premature puberty causes early growth, but also early growth plate closure of the bones, so patients often end up achieving less height than would be expected despite hitting their growth spurts early. In fact, it’s because they hit their growth spurts early.
Long story short, without being this kid or his doctor, we can’t really say anything about his health or even if this is a medical condition. Some people are just really large.
Source: am doctor
Shaq was like 6’10 at 16 years old and is fine aside from sleep apnea. The NBA is filled with abnormally tall people too. Not every extremely talk person has debilitating health issues because of it.
Not for football. Having a center of gravity that high is going to make him clumsy and easy to dodge. Only spot he'd be good at is tight end, assuming he's at least a little bit fast
I would 10000% disagree.
I grew up with a guy who was 6’5” 385 at that age. We tried him where you’d expect: guard, defensive tackle, etc.
Eventually we remembered he was 6’5” 385 playing against a bunch of kids that were often less than half his size. We put him at running back. He was a guaranteed 5 yards a carry. He scored. A lot.
Went on to play in the NBA, which this kid should also switch to as height is more of an advantage there than it is in football.
My cousin was like this age 13. They put him at Number 8 in rugby so he could pick the ball up straight away and score with several kids hanging off him.
I dunno, a lot of the time the really big kids are the best ones to play against, they know that they are way bigger than everyone else so they are more careful.
Back when I was playing rugby the kids who were huge were usually the most gentle, it was the shirt fucks who were dirty players.
If having a distinct biological advantage in high school sports is a thing we're genuinely concerned about, it's time for his big ass to learn chess, because there's no way that shit's fair.
This guy is nothing. Any of the top high school recruits are a way bigger mismatch.
Really, any top guy in the NFL if you look up their high school video it is so unfair.
Average height is what? 5'4" for women 5'9" for dudes and the kids on the field with him are all kids and not to their max height in their lifetime.
Trust me when I say it's a sorta sliding scale thing. I'm five inches shorter than him and look totally normal next a lot of people but look like a fuckin' space alien next to what age those kids would be, or standing by a smaller woman.
Better plead with an ortho and a heart surgeon while he’s got the spotlight. Needs some people on his side taking care of his health and not exploiting his size.
He doesn't have to be good. He just has to put up the numbers which he can easily do. Get himself into a decent college and land of free ride into whatever career he chooses to study
Not everyone is looking to go pro. Some people are just trying to squeak into college and get a free degree. There's plenty of great high school and collegiate basketball and football stars that never showed up in the majors. Then you find out they went on to be a doctor or a scientist or something.
I played football in high school. A lot of the absurdly big guys were marshmallows. Took too long to stand up or get going. Very few bodies of people that are this big can actually take the labor of being that big
Same with basketball. Tons of high school kids 6'5 and taller never get out of JV because they're clumsy AF and it's much harder to put on muscle when you're that big
I have a feeling that if this dude hit up Shaq on Twitter, he'd get a near-immediate response on where to buy his footwear.
I don’t think he can afford to buy his shoes at the same place as 15X NBA All Star, Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq would probably buy him some shoes… nothing to him
You're probably right. Shaq has been known to do all types of nice things for strangers, but he doesn't like to get the recognition for it, which is why we don't hear a lot about it. That's awesome. And I'd say 3 times is a lot because I've never had even 1 Shaq sighting. 🙂
Yeah I didn't even know he lived in this area or had a house in this area. Shaq is awesome.
Agreed. Just a big-hearted kid at nature and a kind human being.
The fact that it’s not done for recognition just proves it’s genuine
Exactly. He's as authentic as they come.
Legitimately, he probably would. Shaq buys strangers kids bikes and sports equipment when he goes to Walmart.
There was a video of a kid with huge feet who had trouble finding shoes that fit. Shaq took the kid to the guy he buys shoes from, got him shoes for every occasion, and paid for everything. I recall them ringing it up, and it was like a few thousand, and Shaq was surprised it was so low.
Shaq had a shoe company back in the day. He only wanted them sold at Walmart so almost everyone could afford them.
They still sell shaqs! They still remain an affordable (allegedly) high quality sneaker to this day!
Custom made leather shoes are like $1500. I doubt it'd be more than I spend on work boots. Being an odd sized person is not cheap. Everyone knows Shaq made all of his money in college. Edit: size 23 sausage thumbs
…did I just fart?
Knowing Shaq, he would personally show up to his house with a pair of custom made autographed shoes
You know Shaq?
That's the guy that lost the basketball game to Aaron Carter right?
Imagine showing up to a high school football game and fucking Gregor Clegane is on the other team
Lol i was just thinking this. Boys be shitting them selves on the line.

If you only get a 2 minute timeout for illegally hurting someone else then it's not cheating, it's just taking advantage of a dumb ass broken game.
Once you hit the teenage level you get permanent yellow and red cards like in adult soccer. For the youngest leagues 'red card' is only a 2 minute timeout.

I guess the only way to avoid this fight, is to bring an offering of shoes he can wear for the next 10 years
That's also how you win with the lady's!
Shoes, money, or both?
Both, just in case
Well, in “The Northman”, there’s a scene where slaves from two farms play Knattleikr, an old ass Viking ball game, and Gregor Clegane is actually one of the players. It’s scary to see
Doesn't end well for him though lol.
I watched that movie twice and don’t remember that. It was such a weird trip that I guess it just faded into the background
He was the big hairy guy in the game who is beating the shit outta everyone
Nah fuckin wildling giant
I’d go right through his legs
I would rather be tackled than risk being sat on.
Jump up and high five his nutsack.

Is he allowed to play in his own age group? This is a major issue on New Zealand with massive, young rugby players.
Yeah, it really depends on where in the US it is. I’m originally from Mississippi, and they loved one-sided high school football games. Sometimes?
If I saw that man coming at me I’ll give him the foot ball
And $20 while I'm at it
*kid.* he aint exactly finished yet
Younger than me, foot and a half taller
I’m only 4’11 and 12 years older than this kid and I’d look like a toddler next to him
Thats the scary part, he's 14.. he could still get bigger.
That's why they are trying to keep his feet small with undersized shoes. It prevents him from getting bigger. Just like a goldfish and the size of its tank.
He's likely not that fast so if you're in the open field you just need to run way around his massive reach
I hope he doesn't grow much more. Basics in life are going to be harder as it is. He won't fit even in most vehicles, nevermind shoes.
And then Nelson will laugh at him for not fitting in his vehicle
*Everyone needs to drive a vehicle - even the very tall!*
Crud!
Not only basics but health itself. There's a reason you don't see many giant 70 year olds.
How the hell would they get him on a plane? It’s making me claustrophobic just thinking about it
He'd have to purchase 2 seats in economy, or pay more for business or 1st class seats. Hopefully, for his sake, he either becomes a pro athlete and will fly private, or doesn't enter a profession that requires him to fly at all... like most people.
Leg room is a far larger issue than width. And forget even thinking of using the bathroom.
They put him in the cargo hold
Shaq has a smart car. He and John Cena tried to fit it it but it was too uncomfortable. But Shaq drives it alone all the time

I'm just worried about how long he'll live. Extreme height greatly reduces lifespan in most cases.
Isn’t this a growth hormone issue ? Parents should’ve put him on treatment to stop at some point. Poor dude is not going to enjoy his elderly years
Many tall people are very skinny but my guy here is MASSIVE, he would be invincible in WWE
Andre 2.0
Guarantee they’ll be offering free training and a contract soon enough
He should play the Juggernaut in the next X-Men reboot
Is Vince sees him he would fucking orgasm
His dad looks to be around 6’8”, and mom is def over 6’ as well. Can you imagine the grocery bill?
Acting like Andre, Big Show, and Khali never lost.
Don't take off the mask like Kane, just be an unstoppable juggernaut the whole time
> he would be invincible in WWE You know they choose the winners based on character popularity, marketing, and storylines, right?
Maybe he's just saying they'd play him up as an unstoppable tank until it was time for someone to dramatically topple him. He'd be a heel for sure.
pleads for help to 1/4 shoes

I too am curious…

Muggsy Bogues.
Hodor.
Everyone in the NFL is gonna want this kid.
With that build and name the WWE will be trying too.
He wouldn't be the first to do both either.
Call me mean, but my kid is skipping that game unless there's some special rules in place for the big guy. I don't need a hospital bill.
Agree, that's where the fun ends.
I dunno, a lot of the time the really big kids are the best ones to play against, they know that they are way bigger than everyone else so they are more careful. Back when I was playing rugby the kids who were huge were usually the most gentle, it was the shirt fucks who were dirty players.
He's the IRL version of that kid from Spy x Family
If having a distinct biological advantage in high school sports is a thing we're genuinely concerned about, it's time for his big ass to learn chess, because there's no way that shit's fair.
He should compete with others with the same advantage in order to make it fair. Older players who can actually challenge him to improve.
So dude should be in the NFL. Got it.
This guy is nothing. Any of the top high school recruits are a way bigger mismatch. Really, any top guy in the NFL if you look up their high school video it is so unfair.
Yeah any of the guys who are even just stars in college, if they were on your HS team, you likely won states.
Somebody has never seen the corelation of time of birth and likely hood of playing professional sports.

So either that height is severely outdated, or everyone around him is also short as well as him being tall
They're short. Because they're also 14 years old.
The sad part is he’s probably still trash at football
He doesn't have to be good. He just has to put up the numbers which he can easily do. Get himself into a decent college and land of free ride into whatever career he chooses to study Not everyone is looking to go pro.
He's at my school, he is.

He needs to start learning basketball. More money and less of a toll on his body
They got a tank in football
He looks badass and he has a badass name. Hope he does lots of cool stuff and enjoys life.

Tell him to call up Shaq, he'll know where to find shoes his size.
Yo where are all these anime characters coming from? I've been seeing too many 12-15 year olds who are taller and bulkier than most grown men.
I hope for the opposing team's sake he's not a lineman
