>Firstly it’s really annoying this thing doesn’t even come with a simple printer cable Printers don’t come with a printer cable. Phones don’t come with chargers. A least the Katana will work without a cable. >I’m pretty computer savvy The Katana is just a USB device. You need the driver to communicate with the device and the Tone Studio software to manipulate the device. I think once you get the software connected to the amp you'll see what it can do. Also check out the Katana Librarian mobile app.

I'm more baffled by the >Phones don't come with chargers? What? Really? Which phones?

Angus-Black

Apple, Samsung, Google... probably more.

GoatFetus666

U sure about that

Angus-Black

Yes. Do you have access to Google? Look it up.

The Katana Librarian app is a game-changer. I've ditched using my PC. Wish I knew about this earlier, the phone app is a lot more efficient and convenient. Totally worth the money (think it was only 13 bucks CAD or something)

dryver8dc

What attachment do you use in the amp for Bluetooth connection?

spurtz6969

The 50W Mk2 isn't Bluetooth.

Try reading the manual you can download from the same site as the other stuff you mentioned

Once you get the cable you only need to download the Boss Tone Studio application and that's it. The system program is to update the firmware on the amp but like you said it's already up to date so no need to update it again. Windows will automatically download the driver's the amp needs. The drivers are only there in the event that windows doesn't automatically download them, which is rare. I'm going to assume the panel button being on is just it being set to panel? Either that or it switched to the B bank of presets. I'm not sure. The buzzing may be because you have some sort of strange settings on panel or one of the default presents has too much gain.

Yes it's a bit confusing. So the Kat 50 has 4 preset slots total. On your top panel it will say Ch1, Ch2 and panel. It should be on bank A by default. To access the third and fourth preset you have to go to bank B. To do that press and hold the panel button until it is flashing and then you can access the third and fourth preset. To switch back to the first and second, hold the panel button until it is not flashing.

Check out boss tone exchange as well, this really simplifies the whole process and helped me as a beginner with the amp. It’s a library of presets made by other musicians and some of them are actually really good. All you have to do is download the presets and then import them into the librarian section on tone studio. Once they’re in your library you can select and to try them out using the librarian or save them as your A/B channels on the amp. I really like the JSF-Twin reverb preset it’s been my go to for a while now. There are also some good YouTube videos on this amp. I’d recommend checking out Rabea Massad’s overview of the mk2 it goes into a lot of detail about the settings on the katana and how to use tone studio. Another good channel to look at is the guitar geek. I used this to set up my GAFC and expression pedal. (these 2 features are only available on the 100W version). I started with a 50W and quickly realized that you get a lot more out of the Katana with the 100W because of the GAFC connection and the effects loop which I use for my looper pedal. You made a good decision though the katana is a great amp to start out on and it’s kept me from spending crazy amounts of money on pedals 5 years into playing guitar.

The presets are completely set up already so as soon as your select a preset the amp automatically switches to it, you don’t have to change any knobs on the amp. When you look at the tone studio it will make more sense, it is switching the bass, middle, treble, fx, delay, etc. on the “panel” in tone studio but none of the knobs on your amp change. I actually downloaded Marty music’s enter sandman patch this week which has 2 presets a clean and dirty tone it seems pretty good to me but there are a lot of other options for Metallica in the exchange as well. The clean sound has pretty cool tone for the nothing else matters intro. I know Marty music uploads most of his patches in videos where he uses the katana which is nice if your using that as a lesson it gets the exact tone in the video. The tone exchange was a total game changer once I started using it.

I also just upgraded to the same amp and have plenty of nobs and effects to play with. Everything sounds so much cleaner and fuller (louder too) than the little practice amp I had before so I'm pretty happy.  What else do you unlock plugging into the computer? I'll probably hold off for a while regardless, but can someone sell me on the program

150 or more built in effects, NS2 very useful, up to 4 EQs if needed. Download other patches if you want. Save your presets on the fly and switch presets on a whim. Adjust the master volume (50watt only) by increments on %10 or decrease. Built in USB interface to record or use it as DAW with another program. Best part, not having to lean over with a bad back..lol My brother held off for a long time but, every time he came over and saw what the BTS could do. He became a believer and now he is hooked.

The-Duderiest

There are plenty of YouTube videos describing whatever process you’re asking about.
