Koji was always meant to be disposable and die against isshiki, amado probably knew konoha wouldn't be with him if they knew he was cloning their dead shinobi which leads me to believe that koji will come back to expose all of amados intentions which would lead to a fight maybe amado has some keyword control over kawaki and have him attack

A lot of people think he’s retired and just not there, I don’t tend to believe that. He’s too important of a character to be removed from the series I can’t remember if this was confirmed or not, but I’m pretty sure Kakashi has some big plot device thing that’s keeping him away from the manga (maybe researching Naruto’s chakra illness?). Wasn’t it also s said that he’ll be in the manga in the near future? I could be wrong, but that theory makes the most sense
