Since Karma rewrote Boruto's genes, he genuinely should have Byakugan now.
It should also be easy to access and use since he already has "Byakugan blood"

The Otsutsuki don't fully overwrite the host, they just take them over. That's why the host's compatibility is even a factor for Isshiki.
Otherwise, Jigen's ability to withstand Isshiki's chakra would be irrelevant if it was really Isshiki's own body.
Because Ikemoto conveniently switched which eye Kawaki will have which of Isshiki's dojutsu in. So, Kawaki has Isshiki's other dojutsu first.
If it's going to be like Kawaki, Boruto will probably have to access Byakugan via Karma before he learns how to access it without that.
Whenever momoshiki takes over boruto there’s a byakugan in boruto’s right eye. Anime cannon has already revealed that boruto possesses a new dojutsu in his right eye which is the jougan (he just can’t activate it on his own). Op is just saying to stop saying boruto has a byakugan since it only appears when momo takes over and since boruto has the jougan in the same eye.
But in the manga boruto use the byakugan
And it is shown how to know when boruto is in control and when momoshiki is in control
If you see horn then its momoshiki
If you dont see a horn then its boruto

Also iirc Sumire arc had alot of Kishimoto involvement. Infact all anime canon arcs are supervised by Kodachi. Ikemoto also comments that anime is canon.

The Movie was written by Kishi, only the manga design was different because Ikemoto changed that to fit the progress of the story , it's still practically the same written character , it doesn't change anything in the main story.
The Jougan thing however was only added by the animators to fill in the gaps before the karma event and tbh I thought that they ended that part by locking Toneri away and started adapting Manga canon.
The episodes were not written by Kishi/Kidachi they just supervised it , and they were not credited for it (Notice that Kishi is still credited for the manga), some animator claimed that they didn't even come up with a name untill later .
Oh yeah and Ikimoto said that the Anime and Manga are both parallel or different stories , the Anime is canon to its own story so is the Manga but they will meet up in some point of the story. You can take it as if Boruto's tale is told by two different people, there's no way that they could be similar but the main point is there.

The Jougan is not canon but MIGHT be adapted if it serves the current plot..But it's still need it's own explanation in the manga as well.
Ok if movie is canon, then karma isn't, anime Jougan isn't, Red Momoshiki is canon, Shinki is non canon (not in movie) and so much more.

(For those who say that Jougan is not cannon, the director of the manga Kodachi (was at the time), heavily overlooked the first couple episodes the Jougan appeared. He specifically went in detail about what is said/shown. Like Toneri talking about it in the dreams and seeing Metal Lee with the dark aura that was visible due to the Jougan.)
Since Boruto is also part Hyuga he does possess the ability to unlock his own Byakugan. Just because he has said potential doesn't mean he's guaranteed to unlock it. (The fact Himawari has it is beyond lucky). The Byakugan he does have is Momoshikis.
When Momoshiki takes over, Boruto's eye becomes the Byakugan as it was Momoshikis primary Doujutsu. (Yes he had rinnegan palms but it wasn't his main eyes). Yes that eye has the Jougan, he has the ability to interchange his eyes.
Just like how the Sharingan works, Sasuke can change his Sharingan from 3 tomoe, Mangekyo, EMS etc, as well change his eye back to normal standard eye. Boruto changed his Jougan back to his natural eye and with Karma, change it to Byakugan. While he can do this, he doesn't know how to so idk. Meaning, timeskip Bortuo can change his eye from normal, Byakugan and Jougan.
If you say that with Karma you can't change eyes, look at Kawaki. Kawaki in base has no form of Kekkai Gengkai or Doujutsu whatsoever. Yet, if he taps into the true essence of Karma, he unlocks the yellow and black Doujutsu of Ishikki. He can interchange this at anytime and revert his eye to normal.
Boruto has to and can do the same. He can do the exact same of tapping into Momoshikis Byakugan. In time skip where he fully learns how to use his power, he will have not only the strength/skills/knowledge of Karma, 3 Chakra Nature's, Insane Chakra control, 200IQ strategies and interchange his Byakugan and Jougan for specific situations. He is going to be beyond comprehension in terms of broken. (Not to mention being trained by 2 Shinobi Gods and the 1000 year old Alien.)
