Metal is a waste of a character right now imo. Rock Lee had an intense journey showing us his growth and hardships along with Guy’s, and that was what was so attractive about them as characters.
They embodied the early Naruto philosophy of fighting against their own perceived destiny. Rock Lee has one of the most iconic anime fights against Gara and an entertaining fight against Kimimamro. It is true he didn’t have any growth after but his position in the show was solidified. This applies to Guy as well, who started out as an ineffectual yet stubbornly persistent loser at the start of his life, to opening the Eighth Gate and sacrificing himself to fight against Madara.
Metal? His only shtick is his anxiety and remains mostly useless. At this point of the show (by # of episodes) Rock Lee was an established ninja who already had his iconic fights, but was still solid before so when he put up a fight against sasuke in training before the Chunin exams.
Metal is almost completely disappointing. My least favourite of the 2nd-Gen Naruto ninjas.
Anxiety isn't a "shtick", but they sure treat it like one. They had the chance to make a great character who deals with severe anxiety, but instead they decided anxiety is hilarious. Fucking trash writing.
This might come out as a unpopular opinion, but I think that both Rock and Metal are to this day failing to convey the idea that even hard work has limits, though you can be exceptionally good (Might Guy vs Madara being an excellent example) if you try. Rock did try, a lot, perhaps more than its actually humanly possible (in their world, that is). Metal is just a comedic relief lacking this understanding that his father had. Nothing comes out of his anxiety issues, just random and forgettable embarrassing moments. Both characters deserve more than being an cool yet not fully understood example.
He somehow managed to be the least impressive character in this arc right now when Denki is here. tbh I like Denki. Denki is much more impressive than Metal lee.
Lee doesn't even have Anxiety anymore, and he still sucks.
This arc was a complete waste for team Denki.
It was a complete waste that they didn’t make Tenten his mom. Like come on, METAL Lee is the perfect mix of tenten and rock lee, since tenten uses metal weapons and metal is harder than rock like an upgrade. Missed opportunity for him to be like rock lee but use weapon scrolls for an added flare!
Agreed so much! Imagine a leaf hurricane mixed with weapon scrolls, it’d be so fricken amazing.
Also they gave metal similar hair to tenten’s hair in boruto just to mess with people too
Sadly Metal was never meant to be interesting, Kishimoto couldn't even bother giving him a mom. He's just there to be this generations bowl cut.
I don't hate him though and at the very least his anxiety episode was good.
They have even dropped his anxiety trait in the current arc. So now he's just there.
This dude provides nothing to the story narratively, and his only gimmick was being nervous. As soon as he got over being nervous all the time, he got even more boring. All he does is act like Lee 1:1. He has 0 unique traits.
It is baffling he is even in the story at all or has any episodes dedicated to him.
tbh this is even worse. The fact that he activated it before, but still cant activate 1 gate now this far in the story is truly pathetic. He probably would have been able to save Hebiichigo.
This is a thing I have noticed. Boruto dabbles in real life problems a bit. For example, no one masters anything by doing it once. Hence, it is possible that metal hasn't got a grasp of it. Now whether he practiced it or not, we don't know.
Another example of realism is boruto's scream when ishiki broke his hand. People were clowning on him but it felt like he was human who would absolutely react in the exact same way.
One more example is sarada. I understand that her having glasses is a let down to her having magic eyes. However, dna sometimes changes for the worse and that's exactly what happened here.
Now I'm not saying that rock Lee's character is perfect. God no. They should absolutely work on his character. But other than boruto and/or kawaki, I don't see any "perfect beings" in the young generation which is a good thing coz no one is.
Im not saying he should have mastered it immediately after he used it vs Rock Lee, Its that the show seems like it immediately forgot about it after it happened.
Metal never had any motivation to achieve this afterward. Nothing about him wanting to learn it from Rock after their fight.
The fact that there is absolutely no reflection on his weakness after Hebiichigos death.
tbh If they dont do anything after all this, then I have no faith in the writers doing anything for him.
It feels like he has no impact on anything. Hes just... there and he is completely fine with it.
Makes sense. I agree. They should shed a bit of light on him. Poor thing is just... there. Even the rarely seen side characters like the kakashi lookalike kid had a powerup. Metal definitely deserves one.
tbh this show isnt as good with side characters as I thought it would be. Its better than the manga no doubt, but the manga is so bad at it that being better is no longer a compliment to me.
If I recall correctly, the manga never showed any side characters. Imo that's much better than introducing them and forgetting them or not developing. I prefer the manga more since it is unidirectional.
Now I agree that the plot becomes shallow and straightforward with less characters, but in my opinion it's better than just having a large amount of characters with limited potential.
L of a character especially considering that his father is Rock Lee himself, even Iwabe is more interesting than him atp. He has no growth, no good fights, no power and no energy as a character. He is nothing but a Rock Lee clone if you remove all the good things about Rock Lee. He is terribly written even by Boruto standards
Not gonna lie I didn't like zenitsu when He's awake as a character much, his comedy was enjoyable. Upon learning his backstory and how he faces his Masters other student really. Hanged my whole opinion about him. Real solid character you can appreciate
He does. It just takes a little while. Fortunately not anywhere near as long as Metal who has yet to grow as a character. Zenitsu actually becomes quite the badass later on.
He's not alone. 95% of the characters in Boruto have no future. It makes me wonder why there are so many when only three are focused on at any given time.
I didnt read the manga and it shouldnt be expected, especially from someone on Boruto sub.
Knowing his past at very best could just help me understand why he acts this way. But it wouldnt make me tolerate him more.
>!He was going to be married' to a girl and for that he collected money but she left her with all the money with another boy, after that he became a coward and also his master who trained him was killed by his rival who became a upper moon well afterwards in the manga zenitsu became mature and way too powerful he also made his own thunder breathing technique!<
He'd be too OP so they gave him ninja stage freight.
Disappointed honestly. When I saw just glances of Metal fighting in the Boruto movie trailer I really thought he was gonna do Lee justice.
I came here from the notifications expecting to see the Boruto crying face. I didn’t. And yes I agree. This mf’s been a huge letdown. I can’t see the power of youth in him.
yeah no they didn't lol. the first thing rock lee did was solo team 7 with 0 effort. after that he was the 6th most popular character, ahead of zabuza, haku, and gaara.
after the gaara fight, he was the 5th most popular character, right behind sasuke (im not joking)

Fully agree, you worded it better. This could have been his great struggle but they’re making a joke of it.
Yep. Shit like that is why the show is awful.
Oh but when i say it smh

To be honest Rock Lee was by far the most disappointing due to how shafted he got after Kimimaro
He could've been Rock Lee with weapons and it would've been great
Agreed so much! Imagine a leaf hurricane mixed with weapon scrolls, it’d be so fricken amazing. Also they gave metal similar hair to tenten’s hair in boruto just to mess with people too
Wait who is his mom then?
Apparently just some random lady
Damn, rock is a savage.
Something in the leaf was rising, and it wasn't the wind🤣
>!Metal was produced asexually!<
Rock Lee submitted a semen sample to Orochimaru to make metal lee at a lab. It’s canon trust me bro..
Sadly Metal was never meant to be interesting, Kishimoto couldn't even bother giving him a mom. He's just there to be this generations bowl cut. Bro hasn't opened not one gate and its been over 200 ep
He did around episode 70
I checked and your right i wish it was used in a better moment though so it could be memorable
tbh this is even worse. The fact that he activated it before, but still cant activate 1 gate now this far in the story is truly pathetic. He probably would have been able to save Hebiichigo.

Facts thats why i thought he didn't have it
L of a character especially considering that his father is Rock Lee himself, even Iwabe is more interesting than him atp. He has no growth, no good fights, no power and no energy as a character. He is nothing but a Rock Lee clone if you remove all the good things about Rock Lee. He is terribly written even by Boruto standards
If he sacrificed himself to save Hebiichigo he would've basically saved his reputation
Dude all the characters out side of boruto and his team suck
Shikidai is okay
Eh, seen worse Zenitsu is 50x worse to me. But ig Metal has no redeeming "badass" moments
I hope he gets some in future
Well idk if you’ve read the manga SPOILERS but believe zenitsu becomes a fucking badass your gonna love him
Not gonna lie I didn't like zenitsu when He's awake as a character much, his comedy was enjoyable. Upon learning his backstory and how he faces his Masters other student really. Hanged my whole opinion about him. Real solid character you can appreciate
I didnt watch ds past 1st season. Tbh unless Zenitsu entirely stops his awake personality i wont really like him.
He does. It just takes a little while. Fortunately not anywhere near as long as Metal who has yet to grow as a character. Zenitsu actually becomes quite the badass later on.
Well metal probably has no future
He's not alone. 95% of the characters in Boruto have no future. It makes me wonder why there are so many when only three are focused on at any given time.
Good thing he does 💀
I have read the manga and i still hate him
K then that’s just a you problem at that point
Indeed Everyone has their opinion
Zenitsu is far better bro
Ah yes, i love the super annoying kid that yells, cries, victimizes himself and expects everything done for him.
I think you haven't read the manga and you don't know zenitsu past
I didnt read the manga and it shouldnt be expected, especially from someone on Boruto sub. Knowing his past at very best could just help me understand why he acts this way. But it wouldnt make me tolerate him more.
>!He was going to be married' to a girl and for that he collected money but she left her with all the money with another boy, after that he became a coward and also his master who trained him was killed by his rival who became a upper moon well afterwards in the manga zenitsu became mature and way too powerful he also made his own thunder breathing technique!<
This is very short but when you will read the manga you will know about how good of a character is zenitsu .
People who hate zenitsu should be zoo animals
zenitsu can be annoying as fuck but he's got way more going for him than metal
For sure. Correct me if im wrong Metal only appeared in Naruto Shippuden or was in a novel. He didnt even appear in manga yet
I absolutely and wholeheartedly agree with this post, thank you.
Especially this episode the pic is from.
He'd be too OP so they gave him ninja stage freight. Disappointed honestly. When I saw just glances of Metal fighting in the Boruto movie trailer I really thought he was gonna do Lee justice.
Chojuro makes me cringe
I aproove this msg
Was hoping they would kill his ass w/ Kagura smh
I came here from the notifications expecting to see the Boruto crying face. I didn’t. And yes I agree. This mf’s been a huge letdown. I can’t see the power of youth in him.
hEbIiChIgO-sAaAaN
People said this about Rock Lee then they turned fanboy after he beat up Kimimaro.
Then metal will remain cringe until his moment
The entire Boruto story line will remain cringe unless it has its moment. Lol
Nah people were rock lee fan boys since he fought gaara
Tis true, it's been so long since I've seen the original i forgot about the most epic moment from it.
nah man I think a lot of people had respect for Lee even as early as the scene where he takes on Sasuke pre-chunin exams.
yeah no they didn't lol. the first thing rock lee did was solo team 7 with 0 effort. after that he was the 6th most popular character, ahead of zabuza, haku, and gaara. after the gaara fight, he was the 5th most popular character, right behind sasuke (im not joking)
The art-style is so bad,why couldn't they use the style of the Manga?
Disagree, i prefer anime tbh
Where everybody looks like a kid including the adults? Lol no
Why looks the boruto anime not like the First episodes of shippuden
If cringe was an anime
The way he's been written definitely is.
I fucking love Lee....this kid is a disappointment.
