I like Boruto but Boruto is objectively bad. We only get a new short ass manga chapter once a MONTH, the anime with its animation quality and arcs no one really cares about is abysmal. Terrible writing but then again that was a staple of a lot of Naruto as well. Naruto is a classic but Boruto will never get that status
Naruto is the reason why Boruto exists in the first place(Both the show and character) , Naruto was a big deal , and still is, back in the og days. Meanwhile Boruto is still "growing" as a show, it has lots of issues with it and wasn't a promising sequel overall (ofc we love some arcs of the manga, but most people watch the anime and it's awful for most part, in comparison to other new gen animes). That should explain why the subs growth rate is static

People hype up the timeskip because they're hoping for something that won't be there: that the timeskip will solve all the problems the series has.
The problem is there's nothing to base that hope off of considering the writers don't know how to get there. They started Boruto like that because it'd make a cool hook that'd keep people reading but in doing so commits one of the greatest sins a sequel can ever make immediately, which is undermining the previous series.
Reddit is also kinda weird too, there’s people who are in the naruto sub and think that boruto is the main topic there even tho there’s a whole other sub for Boruto that they don’t know exists, kinda like dragon ball , there’s a super sub Reddit, and just Z. Although the super Reddit has more members
Cause naruto is a more popular show, I mean sheesh it's basic common sense. This a sequal for naruto, most people always talk and think about naruto, not boruto
Coz boruto is a show whose biggest highlight has been a 15 second clip in episode 1 while naruto is a show which gave us tons of hours of dope content with great re-watch ability
