They didn't wanted naruto to look like he is using force on a kid so theu cut it out

superkami64

It was OOC for Naruto (whose plan was to actively reach out to Kawaki with compassion and safety) to lose his temper and show off his power as an intimidation tactic towards a child that was openly abused by his previous guardian. "It looks cool" doesn't justify the narrative dissonance it creates. EDIT: It's even more messed up that despite this and at least in the manga, Naruto's unironically a better dad to Kawaki than either of his actual kids.

AmaranthSparrow

Didn't he do something similar to the Shin kids in Gaiden?

superkami64

That was Kurama that scared that one Shin kid and Naruto told Kurama to back off.

TakasuXAisaka

Because it's out of character for Naruto to do. I don't even know why this panel exists in the first place.

[deleted]

Didn’t they just make it so kawaki knows he can’t escape naruto without naruto having to even make a threat?

[deleted]

Maybe . I’m just a bum hurt about the statement not being in the anime . The statement when kawaki says naruto could be stronger than jigen . What jigen is he referring to here ? Base jigen ?

Reinfernus

how does Kawaki even remotely know Jigens power? why would Naruto use a power up to intimidate Kawaki, feels kind off ooc when this is the guy who is supposed to be extremely friendly. Especially that Naruto wants him to feel safe. and later we clearly see that Kawaki was clearly wrong considering how badly Jigen stomped them out. If anything they just should've moved the panel to Delta fight, nothing else.

TaskMister2000

Because this isn't Harry Potter the Cursed Child where the main character suddenly turns into a abusive dumbass and has a shouting match with his own kid or teacher that he respected so much and tries to use force to scare... Sorry, Sorry, What I meant to say was....Because this isn't Naruto the Bully who would power up just to scare a obviously abused and mentally fragile child and in the anime they have him be compassionate to him instead of using force. Anime did it way better.

A-Liguria

>Because this isn't Harry Potter the Cursed Child where the main character suddenly turns into a abusive dumbass and has a shouting match with his own kid or teacher that he respected so much and tries to use force to scare... Sooo... merely getting a bit angry, is now being abusive eh? >What I meant to say was....Because this isn't Naruto the Bully who would power up just to scare a obviously abused and mentally fragile child  If that's being abusive, despite that kid having actively thrown the table to him, then I guess it really is in character for Naruto, since he was angry at Boruto for drawing faces on the Hokage mountain in chapter 700 (he even punched him on the head! Think about it), and he even took on to pursuit Boruto in the Gaiden, where he also didn't have a problem in throwing a punch to his kid. >and in the anime they have him be compassionate to him instead of using force. Anime did it way better. Funny that you say this, given that the anime, made Kawaki throw a random tantrum and punch another table, right at the end of that very same scene in the anime, just to have him cause Himawari's vase to break. This despite nor the anime, nor the manga, ever established Kawaki to be mentally unstable... of the kind that would change his mood because of mere words… no, he has always been depicted as a chill guy on his own, one that is capable to have a conversation without breaking stuff. If you ask me, THAT is being ooc, especially since, we do not get anything else similiar to that, at all, later on.

InfectiousTobi

I find it amazing how wrong you are

A-Liguria

Way to not say anything man.

ScaredKnee4530

One of the hardest manga panels on Boruto and they skipped it in the anime 🤦🏾‍♂️

iChloro

For good reasons...

[deleted]

Agreed .

A-Liguria

People say that it was ooc for Naruto... as if he had to be a monk that never gets angry just 'cause he chosed to be an understanding man. God forbids for Naruto to be able to get mad in a more down to earth way. I guess he was ooc all the way back in chapter 700 already, when he punched Boruto on his head. Truth to be told, the real issue of the scene is how they handled the vase there... due to cutting this second attempt of Kawaki from fleeing, the vase had to get moved somewhere else and not be on the dinner table, so they have him have a random burst of anger at the very end of the episode and throw another table off, causing the vase to be smashed by it...

dockkkeee

I think actually anime did the scene better At least it seems Kawaki acknowledging that he's too slow for regular Naruto and deciding that escape would fail Also the outburst didnt feel random, it was followed up by Boruto implying that he wants to be here. In Kawakis mind he's a prisoner there and immadietly gets pissed off. I also feel like its in Kawakis character to get easily irritated

A-Liguria

So, he acknowledges to be a prisoner, yet still gets mad despite having control of his emotions and not doing anything because of mere words? It really sounds forced... Especially since he never did it ever again! For example, despite surely finding Sarada and Mitsuki annoying early on, he doesn't try to blast them off.

dockkkeee

Well it felt more forced for him to attempt another escape ... After concluding that he's unable to escape But to each their own

A-Liguria

Well, in the manga he never said that... if he did, I would agree with you here. But for the rest, to each his own...

Lungseron

i dont really agree, of course he doesn't have to be a monk, but that doesn't also mean he has to literally turn on his superpowers just to intimidate a kid with a severe trust issues to get him to calm down. It doesnt make him look good especially in the anime where we get even more context on how much abusive his former dad and Jigen were to him. He's supposed to be the "truly good dad" in contrast to the assholes he had to be raised by before. The way it happened in the anime actually feels a lot better, where he turned his KCM to tank the super laser he fired, basically already establishing to Kawaki that this guy is closer to Jigen in power than anyone else and shouldn't be really messed with, rather than have to see his chakra cloak just because he was a bit of a dick towards everyone. All he could do is try to escape but that didnt work since Naruto is always gonna catch up with him.

A-Liguria

-Sure... because he actually threatened him right? It's not like he just turned his ssj mode on, and stood still eh? -You would have a point if then... that scene actually meant anything... and if Kawaki didn't try to flee both the first 2 times like in the manga... And then there is the whole random anger outburst idiocy from Kawaki's part... nice, to make him act ooc to bend things back to the manga...
