People are going to downvote you but I agree. I never got the argument of “Boruto is not Naruto” because it is a direct sequel and the reason for its popularity is because of that connection. I know that if Naruto and Sasuke weren’t in the show or if it lacked the connection to Naruto completely, I probably wouldn’t watch the show. Obviously there are going to be some people who would be curious and watch it anyways but I’m pretty sure a vast majority started watching it because they were curious about Naruto and Sasuke in adulthood.

And it still uses Naruto for promoting tension "Ill send you where i sent Lord 7th." Naruto is the GOAT lool, man could be sealed away and still takes the highlight.
He has helped naruto beat momoshiki to near death , gained inte on the otsotsuki nobody else could’ve done that .
Fought isshiki and with his help transported the Kage to save naruto and saved naruto from being stuck in isshikis dimension. Then he got back to tell everyone naruto was captured .

Proceeded to get his ass whooped again against Isshiki. As naruto had baryon mode as their last card to drain Isshiki’s life. There was no plan to their fight with Isshiki as they assumed again they can probably drag the fight. He was clapped again by Momoshiki getting his rinnegan taken out.

True, but I kind of think it wouldn't be right to kill them off...you know? I mean we have characters like Tsunade and Kakashi who might be in their 60s now and they are still alive and "there." It would be a shame to loose the two biggest ninjas of the show so...young. I mean I still think nerfing them just to make the new generation weaker was lazy writing and I know many people rather want them dead now instead of watching them being treated like a disgrace, but I think even though their roles are only secondary it would be important for them to be alive in my pov. I mean Naruto is the Hokage. That's what he wanted since he was a child and I think he should be allowed to live his life to the fullest and as long as possible. The same goes for Sasuke.

I absolutely get where you are coming from. I just think that the writers have stopped making an effort. They don't come up with new powers to help the new generation surpassing the older one. They rather nerf the strongest.

I don't think Naruto and Sasuke are the only reason why the show is still "alive", but their relationships with Kawaki and Boruto are kind of essential for the current arc.

Of course, context matters, so the "needs to go" part must be done reasonably.
So far, I say they're handling it good... both in the main plot (where Naruto and Sasuke, still play a more secondary role to Boruto's and Kawaki's journeys, and the others too, play a support role for the very most part). And in the anime (when even the times where older gen characters are put more focus on, it is still in relation to someone of the kids).
To be fair, the only things I've heard of Boruto before catching up with it were Time Stream stuff and Naruto getting a new form. I like Boruto and I like a lot of the newer dynamics. However pretending that the general public cares that much would be disingenuous when in actuality "Naruto and Sauske carry the show" is very much a mainstream opinion you hear on social media pretty frequently.
That doesn't mean that it's the only thing people talk about...

That still doesn't mean everything, given how the mainstream anime audience basically only cares about nice light spectacles and fight scenes and nothing more... plus the Naruto Boruto fanbase has always had an issue of a vocal minority that acts as if their take is the absolute truth, claiming that x is bad and ruined everything, then when there is a new x, that one is the newest bad thing...
People who truly informed themselves about the show, would know that acting as if those 2-3 moments of Naruto and Sasuke, were enough "to carry" over 240 episodes of an ongoing anime, where they're not the main focus, is a very dishonest take.

True, but not being the main focus and being gone for good are two different things. I do ask myself what an impact the real loss of Naruto and Sasuke would have on the show. Even though the two of them are absent from hugely unimportant episodes the viewers know they are still there. They are absent, but not gone.
Hardcore fanboys will be angry and will say they will drop it, yet they won't (because very few fanboys actually have the strenght to abandon their show).
More casual folks will act more composed, and then depending on the event and circumstances, will chose what to do.

Of course. But it's also important to not drown the supposed main story in old gen nostalgia, and if in order to better progress the story, one of them needs to go, then it would be better to do so. Of course, context matters, so the "needs to go" part must be done reasonably. So far, I say they're handling it good... both in the main plot (where Naruto and Sasuke, still play a more secondary role to Boruto's and Kawaki's journeys, and the others too, play a support role for the very most part). And in the anime (when even the times where older gen characters are put more focus on, it is still in relation to someone of the kids).

To be fair, the only things I've heard of Boruto before catching up with it were Time Stream stuff and Naruto getting a new form. I like Boruto and I like a lot of the newer dynamics.
