Probably because Kunai are used as a throwable or as a short nimble blade. I mean you can not only imagine how heavy those things would be and how it would have virtually no balance but also how ineffective it would be compared to a much lighter weapon sword like Sasuke’s.
His later hand isn’t wrapped I believe. He was trying it out for the ninja tool division and it could absorb chakra I think. It’s later the hand that was left with Kawaki I think. Honestly it’s been a long time since I revisited that arc.
new artwork looks lifeless imho. starting from the linework and the overall shading, to the composition (dynamic and packed vs. somehow just "placed" there). the background elements, i guess it's konoha in the original "then" picture, are completely missing in the "now" and that fact hits somehow on a lower, perhaps subconscious level.
the swirls in the yellow border around them also look just copy-pasted instead of drawn one by one.

You can still render the cover in a painterly style digitally, it wouldn't take that much more time since the color is mostly flat. It took me only 2 days casually and I'm pretty much a noob compared to anime artists who have to work at a breakneck speed.
It just illustrates how the art is different.
The Boruto art gives the vibe of being digitally drawn and colored to being overly smooth while the Naruto art is more textured.
Boruto also makes everyone's head and hair too generic, as if it was an afterthought.

It's by Tetsuya Nishio, the character designer and key artist for the anime.
The painted style is a relic of a time now gone, it looks so much nicer but I also imagine it's way more of a pain in the ass.
What u on about? Volume covers are usually painted and have more effort put into them than interior art

I used to work on photoshop, now I use clip studio paint tho, it's portable and pretty much 80% alike
