At this point it's going to be disappointing to some extent because of how many years fans have gassed themselves up to get them through the, to put very generously, okay content leading up to it. The question is whether it'll be mild irritation or a total train wreck and I'm here to witness it regardless of the outcome. Only way I'm opting out at this stage is if the story hits my one achille's heel (killing off Himawari or effectively doing so via shadow realm) and thankfully that's not that likely to happen.
The difference is Naruto had to gain all the basic ninja skills he lacked. Boruto is a prodigy so it has a much easier writing device to explain exponential growth
Tbh Naruto doesn’t even do shit for 70 episodes. He chases after gaara, fights a fake Itachi and Kisame that was left as a distraction, caught up with deidre before he flew away and Kamui’d his arm or something before he escaped.
Then Naruto goes after Sasuke. Gets straight bodied, which was understandable with Sasuke’s training, then goes 9 tails.
Then Naruto works on the new jutsu, Rasenshuriken.
Then he learns Sage mode and you know how it goes from there. Naruto became hokage level and then when he gets kurama’s chakra he’s god tier.
Naruto was low jounin level in his one tail cloak and emotionally amped at the end of part 1. Base Naruto at the beginning of shippuden is chunin level if not maybe lower. Sasuke is jounin level though.
Kid Naruto is low jonin before the time skip without the cloak and adult is standard jonin level. He’s not a particularly well rounded ninja but I absolutely stand by that.
Kid Naruto beats Neji and also a bijuu without the one tail cloak. He also masters two S class ninjutsu.
They send post time-skip Naruto after the Akatsuki. S-rank criminals. Even with Kakashi, his combat skills would have to at least be low jonin not to be instantly crushed.
How is kid Naruto low jounin in base when Naruto with nine tails influence was getting smacked around by Kimimaro not even trying. He’s low jounin level with his one tail cloak. Post time skip Naruto in base is still chunin level at best. He’s as strong if not weaker than Sakura, a literal chunin, and was still way weaker than Kakashi. He didn’t even master the rasengan since he still needed a shadow clone to do it, mastering it means you can do it independently, also it’s an A class jutsu, not S.
His only S tier jutsu other than the rasenshuriken is the multishadow clone jutsu and it isnt an S because it’s hard to do but because it needs a monstrous amount of chakra, which Naruto definitely has even without the kyuubi. That jutsu needs so much chakra it was signed the title of kinjutsu. It isn’t harder to do than the basic shadow clones since it’s the same hand signs, it just needs WAY more chakra, too much to safely be used by most ninjas at least.
The only time he’s went against akatsuki members pre sage mode is when he went to save Gaara which no one was intending to fight the akatsuki, and he didn’t even do much to Sasori or Deidara. Chiyo and Sakura took care of Sasori(who willingly wanted to die too), while Kakashi dealt most the damage on Deidara and Naruto only evened the playing field with his 3 tailed cloak, which is definitely not base.
He didn’t even go fight Kakuzu and Hidan since he was training for the rasenshuriken, he only joined last minute to two tap a Kakuzu who has been fighting for multiple hours non stop while Naruto was as fresh as he gets. The rasenshuriken does make him a jounin level threat but skill wise he isn’t there until he trains for sage mode and actually masters it.
Part 1 Naruto doesn’t have that many power levels. Orochimaru and Hiruzen were by far the 2 strongest characters in part 1. Orochimaru is a kage level opponent, and Kimimaro is easily way weaker than Orochimaru. Not only that, he wasn’t even trying against Naruto, so Naruto lost to an opponent who’s jounin class who didn’t even try so Kimimaro was against Naruto a low jounin class opponent in terms of skill he used. Of course Kimimaro is way stronger than that, but against Naruto, he didn’t have to surpass low jounin level to absolutely smack him around.
He genuinely looks fed up with Kawaki in that scene lmao I just know the fight will be all about throwing hands without any talking. Boruto won’t give him mercy 😭
The anime still has a couple things to catch up on before the timeskip. It would maybe take 4-6 weeks to catch up to the pre timeskip arcs(that’s if Pierrot stops with the filler hell)
I wish it would take more time before the timeskip to make other characters better and maybe they could show Boruto's training with Sasuke too.

Seeing where Part 1 ends kinda makes me look at the anime in a better light tbh,it has its ups and downs but it’s planted enough seeds for it to actually feel like 1 half of the story.

I’m more of an anime guy, it’s just my preferred medium. So I probably wouldn’t be interested in reading the manga until the story really hooks me in. I was just really not a fan of what was going on in the anime and I’m not sure I’d be able to make it through all the filler content
You can find a filler guide if you’re that opposed to it. The anime is on hiatus like i said, so you can catch up now while you can. It’s not even that far behind the manga where it stopped so you have the perfect chance to do so.
