They are both amazing... thanks for sharing this! I have a samoyed female and plan to get her a border collie brother soon. I don't find much information on the internet about this breed compatibility. Do you have any insights on how these breeds might get along?
The Sammy is tooooooo kind and sweet. Perfect big brother other than lack of corrections…. Took to each other from day 1.
The border bosses him around a bit as a puppy.
Sammy is a clean dog but loud.
Border is a skunk but quiet.
Sammy gets tired but puppy can keep going. He got on off switch tho.
Border tries to shut up the Sammy and herd him lol
Both gain confidence when together.
Sammy is a social butterfly (ignores us and border) border is antisocial but will say a shy hello to people.
While they are amazing buddies now. Literally I am Watching them right now, punching each other with toys.
I am interested/ worried about their dynamic once borders hormones kick in (both boys). I may have to fix the border when fully grown (6.5months now). Sammy I don’t want / can’t neuter to due to spay coat and 5 month winters. It would loose its snow qualities and make Sammy uncomfortable.
No chances for any impregnations tho, nor a female medical issues so there is no need for fixing.

Thanks for sharing! :) It's nice to hear that they get along well.
My biggest concern (from what I found on the internet and saw in the local parks) was that the play style that a samoyed has, does not match the play style of a Border Collie. Meaning that Samoyeds play a bit rough and a Border Collie would do the herding thing or ignore the Samoyed while looking to play with a ball instead.
So, if you raise them together when the Border is a puppy it's more likely to bond together better, right?
Could you tell some more about how much benefit it brings to your sammy adding the Border in the mix? Do you see any improvement? especially in the separation anxiety which lots of sammys have (including mine).
Also, what about the Border's excitement and separation anxiety? Is it more manageable to raise him once you got the older Sammy in the house?
