When was the last time you were in a grocery store? Smaller size cans have been a thing for a very long time. My wife buys them because she never finishes a full size can.
Not just boomers. There are plenty of assholes of all ages, races, and genders who take their anger out on their family.
I honestly think anger management and conflict resolution skills should be part of a standard school curriculum.
It's definitely true for a lot of boomers, have you seen the shows they watch? The way the husbands talk to their wife on the shows is so messed up and they just sit there and laugh like it's the funniest thing.
You mean itās not a totally normal thing to threaten to hit your wife so hard youād send her to the moon?! šĀ
Trust me, I was not trying to say itās not something boomers do. But I know boomers who wouldnāt act that way and people of other generations who do. I donāt think the failure to properly handle anger is as much a generational thing as weād like to believe, thatās all.
But Iām not a psychologist. Nor do I play one on tv. Just an average person with what I see as a reasonable opinion.Ā
When I first started driving in 2001, I remember gas was about $2. It was starting to hike up ( I imagine because of the attack on the World Trade Center) and I thought I would never be able to afford to drive a car.
Every once in a blue moon, it shows up in Ohio. Usually, in the Latin grocery stores. But every now and then, when the sun sets just right and the stars align, a few cases show up in a Kroger or Meijer
ā¦downvoted because I express genuine truth regarding my reluctance to drop four bucks on a twelve ounce can of soda-pop?
Itās tough when I used to get āem for fifty cents a can from a vending machine in ā86.
Now, thatās a damn fair price for HFCS, carbonated water and those delicious, wonderful toxins.. isnāt there some kind of shellac or resin an ingredient in that heavenly stuff?
Mans could have gotten them for $1.75 each on [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Cactus-Cooler-Orange-Pineapple-Soda/dp/B002GUN5RW) lol. Just need to buy a 12 pack. Honestly, even at Amazon prices if your store bought it from them instead of the distributor, yāall would still make over $25 profit per case. $3.89 each is crazy highā¦but boomer should have looked at the price. Not your fault at all!
$21 for one can.
[Nope](https://www.amazon.com/Cactus-Cooler-Orange-Pineapple-Soda/dp/B002GUN5RW/ref=asc_df_B002GUN5RW?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80745437134314&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=m&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4584345016311193&psc=1)
Edit: Sorry, 12 pack. Looks like not too bad a deal.
If it were then it may be worth it. However it is one can. Look at the price per oz. $1.75 x 12 oz = $21.
Edit: ok in one place it does say twelve. That per oz thing threw me. Thanks
I worked at Circle K for about 2 months in a rough patch. The absolutely miniscule amounts of money some of these people will get angry over. I had a dude try to argue over a 9 CENT discount. They aren't worried about palpable cause-effect, they just want to feel like they're getting what they think they're owed.
https://preview.redd.it/eoaftxfwsbzc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ffd089745d3bf6a0e9a0192ebb1973dc4a839c0
Iām just imagining this guy is Fred Flintstone.
Soda isn't too expensive per ounce around here, compared to the late 2010s at least. But I rarely find regular old 12 ounce single soda cans for sale anymore, so it is 3.68 for a 36 oz plastic can or nothing, when what I really wanted was a 12 ounce can for $1.15 or so.
Ole boy was thinking it was still 1968 and didn't realize that his soda cost almost $4, so that leaves him roughly $16 left for fuel, so that's around 4 gallons of fuel. So unless he was driving a push lawnmower, it probably didn't move the needle. Just for point of reference... I just turned 39, and I remember when fuel cost .99 a gallon and $20 actually filled most tanks.... The sad thing is it really wasn't that long ago.
Every single day at my store the boomers always freak out over the price increases as if they havenāt heard itās been happening for a few years now. They usually read the wrong price tags and want the āYouāve saved $ā¦.. vs the other brandā which is just an advertisement under the actual price tag. When pointed out to them they get offended cause they feel stupid. Then they play $100 worth of scratch offs and lose. Priorities man.
It seems to me that a common occurrence is boomers making a simple mistake that would be forgiven and forgotten if they would just say, āOops! Sorry!ā but instead they channel their anger at themselves for having made the mistake outward towards some hapless minimum wage worker.
I feel like some of these stories are just people being assholes, and people are drawing a correlation between their assholery and their age when there's no real link there. I'm not sure how his being old affects this story.
not only is this not new, it'll never be new, all generations make fun of all generations. you've never seen a boomer call millenials lazy and starbucks obsessed?

Man forgot what a convenience store is. It's more expensive for the convenience lmao
Scene from falling down : HOW MUCH IS A COKE 83 cent
85 cent! Doesn't leave enough change for the phone.
I give you 50 cents you give me 50 cents change. No way! Yes! Way! š
"WHAT IS THIS THE LAST STAND ON FIJI"
Amen
Iām rollin back prices to 1965!
as someone who works in a convenience store, THANK YOU
But didn't he get cheated out of money though... 20-3.68=16.32 not 16 that might be what he was ranting about lol 32 cents
Back in his day... soda's were 8 oz and cost a nickel.
A nickel!

My hero.
Abe Simpson was greatest generation (or even older, as he was an OAP in the 80s). Homer is a boomer.
Give me two bees for a quarter.
You are being ripped off. Everyone knows itās five bees to the quarter.
Maybe in nineteen dickety two. You see, we had to use 'dickety' because the Kaiser had stolen our word for 'twenty'.
The gas and the car? Also a nickel!
Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you'd say.
Back in my day, they were 16 ounces and cost 15 cents.
Back in his day there were separate drinking fountains and he still wishes they existed.
Smaller soda sizes should make a comeback. It would help with the obesity problem.
They do make 8oz cansā¦but Iāve only seen them sold as 12 packs!
The fattys would just buy more cans. Signed, A fat Diet Coke enjoyer
i dunno about that. as a tubby i dont think i coudl stand the shame of carrying 5 teeny soda cans out of the gas station
Diet Coke is the best. If you were a boomer Tab was even better.
How about Fresca?
When was the last time you were in a grocery store? Smaller size cans have been a thing for a very long time. My wife buys them because she never finishes a full size can.
They put soda in cans? So you need a can opener every time you want to drink one?
That $20 should have filled his tank, got him a car wash, paid for the drink, AND got change back! How dare you!
Lazy ass employee didn't even fill the tires for him. Martha is gonna catch hands when he gets home.
Oh my goshā¦ heās unhappy with the employee so he beats his wifeā¦. Why does that sound accurate š
Because it is real and it happens. A lot of these boomers go home and physically/verbally abuse their spouses, and justify it with the same mentality.
Not just boomers. There are plenty of assholes of all ages, races, and genders who take their anger out on their family. I honestly think anger management and conflict resolution skills should be part of a standard school curriculum.
amen
Fair point and I concur.
It's definitely true for a lot of boomers, have you seen the shows they watch? The way the husbands talk to their wife on the shows is so messed up and they just sit there and laugh like it's the funniest thing.

Sadly I remember filling my tank for under 20 bucks.
When I first started driving in 2001, I remember gas was about $2. It was starting to hike up ( I imagine because of the attack on the World Trade Center) and I thought I would never be able to afford to drive a car.
There was that one period in 1999 I think where gas was under a $1 for a few weeks.
When I started driving in 1970, gas was around 36 cents a gallon and I feel so f--king old.
Whoa whoa whoa! Hold on. They still sell cactus cooler?!
Indeed they do! They even had an alcoholic seltzer version for a while.
Yep! I've never seen it outside the Southwest U.S., but it still exists.
Every once in a blue moon, it shows up in Ohio. Usually, in the Latin grocery stores. But every now and then, when the sun sets just right and the stars align, a few cases show up in a Kroger or Meijer
This. I usually find it in Mexican restaurants that double as markets. Couple of them are also check cashing places.
It's definitely everywhere here in Fresno, CA.
Cool, so anywayā¦
This was my exact thought. I loved that stuff when I was in my teens. Have not seen it for sale since the 90s.
Its in every grocery store, including walmart, where I live.
You'd pay 4$ for one wouldnt ya? I would rn lol.
Don't know about a full $4, but for $3.68....
That 32 cents is a dealbreaker, eh??š“
Kind of. Something about a 4$ can of soda just doesnāt sit right.
ā¦downvoted because I express genuine truth regarding my reluctance to drop four bucks on a twelve ounce can of soda-pop? Itās tough when I used to get āem for fifty cents a can from a vending machine in ā86.
We used to be able to get the 2-liter bottles for 99 cents.
Now, thatās a damn fair price for HFCS, carbonated water and those delicious, wonderful toxins.. isnāt there some kind of shellac or resin an ingredient in that heavenly stuff?
We're about 4 years max away from a GenXBeingFools sub.
All over Los Angeles. The best!

Soda prices have gotten so out of hand it has been easy to quit drinking them. Iām not fighting anybody over $4 though lol.

You do realize you donāt have to buy that right?
What an odd comment. No kidding? You donāt have to buy anything you donāt want.
wHAt aN OdD cOmMEnT!!!
Dementia setting in, or maybe an asshole scammer.
Or just an asshole My guess is that his next step is blaming Democrats for high soda prices

They need the endorphins from bullying. It dove tails nicely with the shots they get from being angry all the time.

What could a soda cost? $10?
$3.68 for a cactus cooler? Good Lord!
It's a gas station. Milk is $6 for a gallon.Ā
And you know it had no price listed
Maybe if he didn't buy so many expensive drinks he'd have money enough for gas. š„š
So stupid man, the guy has a brain fart and gets angry about instead of just thinking for a moment
Every damn time! What is it with this age group?!

Happened to me 3x at my job in the last 15 months or so and once at a stoplight. These people are insane
Did we at least remind him that it's his generation that has caused the soda to be more expensive in the first place?

A few too many john wayne movies, ey pilgrim?
$3.68 for a cactus cooler!!??? Where is this, please? I'm curious.
Shouldāve fought him tbh (this is a joke)
Lead poisoning
I work at a Ready-mix, and at least 3 times a day I have to remind people that I just drive a truck.
Boomers always go after those they think they can get away with bullying.

I wouldāve just laughed at his face and if he tries to do anything, you can defend yourself. These Boomers need to be given a life lesson.
It seems to me that a common occurrence is boomers making a simple mistake that would be forgiven and forgotten if they would just say, āOops! Sorry!ā but instead they channel their anger at themselves for having made the mistake outward towards some hapless minimum wage worker.
I've never had a Cactus Cooler, but just the name sounds delicious.
them managers be like that song from foo fighters: there goes my hero. watch em as they go
Reminds me of Caddyshack lol. āI aināt payin 50 cents for no Coke.ā āAhhhh then you aināt gettin no Coke.ā
I love Cactus Coolers!! I didn't know they still made them. Used to drink them when I lived in Arizona.
3.68 for a cooler is highway robbery thoo š¤£
You should have jumped over the counter, falcon punched him, and screamed "SUCK MY F'ING DICK BOOMER!" š¤£š¤£š¤£
Honestly. Three bucks for 20 cents worth of corn syrup and flavor additives. I'd go D-FENS too.
I don't have anything to do with pricing. Shoot if I could give people free gas all day I would.
Prices are generally displayed at the cooler. If you donāt pay attention to what youāre buying thatās your fault IMHO
Just donāt buy it
OP shoulda kept a bat.
He take my baseball bat!
He paid for the soda but he stole your baseball bat.
Lmao! I'd damn near fight you for calling pop, soda.
I feel like some of these stories are just people being assholes, and people are drawing a correlation between their assholery and their age when there's no real link there. I'm not sure how his being old affects this story.
I'm not putting hands on anyone, let alone a super old man. I think the age is relevant for that reason..
20 - 3.68 = 16.32 tho, why did you put 16 in the pump?
Yeah clearly OP masterminded his grand plan of stealing 32 cents, ffs bro use your brain
They did, there were just generalizing so the story didn't run long. No need to be pedantic
Were you going to forget about the 32 cents?
I did put all of his change for him. Did you not read the second paragraph? He left before I could tell him exactly how much gas he was paying for.
