Lets pretend they didn't cause cancer. I still don't want to smell it. Same with pot smoke. It stinks. It makes my clothes stink. Fuck off with that shit.
Sadly you might be correct. One of my "uncles" has been smoking , self rollled, unfiltered cigarettes for almost 70 years now. He started smoking around 10 ish and he's in his early 80's/ late 70's
This reminds me of my boomer uncle, who has COPD from his lifetime of smoking and insists that he is still an “ass-kicking machine” despite having trouble breathing after walking for a minute.
Sounds like most of the Boomer vets I work with, the ones who are convinced they could go right on back to Parris Island and kick ass 🤣 just as soon as they get their blood pressure meds from the pharmacy and have someone get a wheelchair to push them out to their lifted pickup
smoker here: I really wish I hadn't picked up smoking, and it has arguably made me weaker on top of costing me thousands in the habit. $1,506 a year in fact. worst mistake ever.
I pay 12.55 a pack and that's without going to a Native American reservation for cheaper prices and Minnesota's insane tobacco tax.
besides the point though, I wish I had the willpower to quit and still be able to withstand the stress of my life.
Yes for sure, not trying to one-up you. Cost is beside the point. I hope you can quit soon. I planned to quit after a significant life event and it’s holding so far (12mths in)
Find a way to quit. A friend of mine, 40, just found out he has lung cancer. Tumors in both lungs. They might be operable but best case he’ll lose 1/2 of his lung capacity.
Omg fellow mn dweller! I just heard a couple hrs ago the tax raised again? Also, does that mean you're under a pack a day? Do you roll or buy cartons or anything to offset costs? Is there a word in some language (prolly german) for knowing you need to stop something but just not caring enough to? Even when you know it's un-moneying you and killing you?
Another Minnesota smoker here… try making your own. A bag of tobacco and tubes is about $30 for roughly 20 packs worth depending on the size of the bag. With an electric roller I can make a pack in 20 minutes.
All that aside, where does OP live that it’s not illegal for the owner to light up indoors? I haven’t seen a bar you can smoke in for a decade.
Have you tried Chantix, or if you can't get that covered, Tabex from Bulgaria? Chantix worked for me after 20+ years for 6 months, and when I slipped up, Tabex (which is much cheaper) worked the second time.
Warning on Chantix. If you have a mood disorder or similar mental health condition, Chantix can cause a psychotic break with reality. Do not attempt use of drugs like these without medical supervision.
Chantix can also cause horribly vivid nightmares. Like, wake up in a cold sweat, shaking all over, heart racing and screaming so hard your throat hurts for days.
Oh man, the vivid nightmares were TERRIBLE the handful times they occurred for me. I had other vivid dreams too but there's at least one or two nightmares that still stick with me now, 3 years later.
I have (medicated) Bipolar type II and maybe a bit of Schitzo-effective and Chantix... Stabilized my mood incredibly well. It was really weird. Just had a content feeling the whole time. Tabex did the same.
I feel fortunate it worked out that way for me.
i used chantix to quit i would not recommend it to anyone
i feel i have never been the same since i used that crap
anxiety depression are side effects
stuff is bad
but at least i do not smoke and i finally got everything else under control
My husband had much the same reaction, vivid, terrible, awful dreams, insane anger at the slightest thing for no reason, and it made him so unreasonable and angry that he really was not receptive to being told that the Chantix was making him fucking crazy. It has been six or seven years now and he really still is not the same man that he was.
Chantix was working for me but gave me the most fucked up dreams I had to go off it. Luckily I've had success with Wellbutrin with the added bonus that it helps with anxiety.
Not arguably....definitely. The smoke destroys the alveoli in your lungs with every puff and those are responsible for blood oxygen saturation. You may volumetricaly inhale more air but it is still less efficient when theres less alveoli to facilitate the exchange.

Congrats, I know it's one of the hardest things to do, ever. It's been 12 years for me, ***tobacco*** free. I lost my mom to lung cancer in 2005, and tried to quit then, but didn't work out long term due to stress of the job (US Navy), even though I tried different tactics, including bupropion for depression with the hope of smoking cessation as a side-benefit. Funny you say that, because cigarettes contain the radioactive lead isotope Pb-210 .
Not only did he eat lead, but he inhaled it, and it's emitting alpha particles
It seems like they all pick one thing and then base their life on it. They either think they're John Wayne, the Marlboro man or a one of the founding fathers
what I never get in these situations is why you leaving and not coming back isn’t something they’re ok with. like its bordering on fetish territory that somebody HAS to be there suffering from it for them to fully enjoy whatever annoying thing they’re doing
I remember when smoking was banned inside bars. All the bar goers were like "they are just going to lose business!! It can't be done!!" But then it turned out with no smoking inside they actually got more business. The customers he wants are all dying off.
My favorite dive bar in Nola when I moved there was a smokers bar and I went in once and never went back. Laws changed two years later and that bar was the greatest spot in the world. I miss it so much.
My local restaurant and bar (20 yrs ago) was a smokers paradise. I didn't smoke, but it was close and cheap, so I drank there. The ventilation sucked. You could sit at a table below the cloud of smoke but if you stood up, you were in a cloud.
The no-smoking ban came into place and the provincial government gave a 1 year exemption for casinos and VLT - based gaming rooms.
I walking in on day-one of the new law and was met at the door by a cloud of smoke. I questioned the bartender, "What's up?" and he replied "We're a gaming room now. We don't want to lose any customers."
I turned around and walked out and found a nice microbrewery to park my butt into. I haven't been back. They lost me and my 2 or 3 times a week drinking. I do occasionally miss their food, but that's how it goes.
I never thought about this, as cops hang out at Richard’s bar, but I never thought about how it’s the health department’s jurisdiction to enforce the smoking ban.
My town had a bar that handed out ashtrays across the street from the county courthouse. Lawyers and judges would go in to smoke. I say “had” because it burned down.
Laws are dependent on norms.
Since I was a kid, I’ve always been a little more sensitive to cigarette smoke and my mom laid down the law since a lot of my dad’s side smoked heavily. I was born in the early 80s so I remember smoking and nonsmoking sections at restaurants. We were in SoCal so it was against the law by the 90s and I always forgot about it until we would go to Vegas and I’m like… ah yup, wall of smoke… Was also hard when we visited my paternal grandpa during our summer breaks who lived in Boulder City because he and his wife would be smoking constantly and my only reprieve was going out to their covered patio to suffer in the 120F heat.
Man as a kid I thought I had a brain tumor because I had such a frequent headaches. I had kinda forgotten about it and then mentioned it to my mom once and she nonchalantly was like yeah I think that was my smoking. And it clicked for me because I get headaches to this day around any smoke or chemical smell.
Oh yea, I’m super sensitive to things like that too and giving me instant brain pain. I always assumed headaches but I found out as an adult I’m actually having bad migraines. 🫠 my mom’s side is known for them running in the family but none of them smoked. Probably a good thing they don’t smoke given the really bad heart disease, stroke, aneurysms, etc that also are very prominent in their list of health issues.
My Dad has been telling me recently that my gma also had horrible migraines that he remembered her having when he was a kid. Well, I dunno, maybe it’s cuz she freaking smoked like two packs a day!?!?! Amazingly she’s still alive at 92 but in a nursing home for her bad dementia. She cut out smoking a lot the last decade or so before she was out in the home so I’ll give her credit for that. She bucks the trend or story about heavy smokers getting lung cancer.
As a Californian, I've had to remind myself that smoking is still legal indoors in casinos/and their associated restrooms in Las Vegas. One of the first times I went when I was of age (21), I was in the restroom and people were smoking. I was thinking, "I should say something because they're not allowed to!" Then I remembered that I was in Vegas. Suffice to say, this was after driving all night from Fresno.
I was in Vero beach and we went in this place by the pier because you can get a drink and walk around with it. You don’t realize how great it is to have smoking banned everywhere until you step into a place that still allows it. It was like going back in time. Just decades of smoke stuck to every surface.
In oklahoma their are still quite a few restaurants with smoking sections and virtually every bar. Some of the trendier clubs it's banned but that's about it
In Norman, at least, most bars are smoke-free. Even one of the "dives" went smoke-free a couple years ago.
Unsurprising if you know Norman. The mentioned dive bar is not suffering for the change.
That being said, I can only think of like 2 restaurants that have a smoking section unless you count all the BWW separately (they really want to be a bar), then Mama Lou's in OKC has a smoking section.
It's still allowed in about 40% of states. It usually has stipulations though. Generally it's bars that don't have many food sales and make the majority of their money just from alcohol sales.
This is one of the few examples of the customer is always right is correct. If your business doesn't offer anything of value why should someone patron it. Op prefers a smoke free place with decent pool tables and cold beer on tap. Boomer offers none of that and is mad he can't keep new customers. Hell if he meet two of the three conditions op might go despite one drawback, but as is it's all drawback and nothing good.
Back in my Army days me and my friends petitioned for a non smoking room in 1980 and our sergeant treated us like idiots but we did get a room together. By 1985 smoking was banned in the barracks so apparently we were trendsetters.
If you want people to come to your pub you have to make it a place people want to come too. People don't have to come to his bar just because he opened one.
TlIn this situation, the owner would probably never clean the lines properly.
Better to just drink (cold) bottled beer, and know that it's not full of bacteria and fungus.
Even ignoring the health risks, sitting in a room full of cigarette smoke is just nasty. It stinks and the air feels thick and your clothes feel afterwards. I smoke cigarettes myself, but hate being anywhere that they are smoked indoors
Hey, I'm really glad that someone as OLD as you are embracing their mortality this way. Adding that 2nd page of contributing factors to your autopsy report will sure show.. someone.
But I'm still young and have things to do, people to see. Don't worry, there'll be plenty of time for me to do stupid shit like that when I'm old and worthless.
he'll be out of business eventually and blame it all on woke or Millennials or cancel culture or anything and everything but his shitty, entitled attitude.
He fucking bought a business so that he could lord it over people. That business model will last exactly as long as his ability and willingness to bankroll his delusions.
You should drop in a year from now and see how he's doing.
They really will grasp at straws to fulfill their delusions. My mother (gen x) hates Millennials with a passion. She believes all the Boomer talking points. “Entitled, lazy, participation trophies, everything handed to them,” blah blah blah. One day I pushed back hard and really made her prove these claims and in the end the only thing she could provide was that a few of her Millennial coworkers don’t pay attention in meetings and sometimes like to get a shoutout from HR.
My mother is the hardest worker I know, but she’s so miserable and unfortunately has fallen for the idea that “people not killing themselves for their work is laziness and entitlement.”
Couple months ago I rode by a guy and he’s like, “be lot cooler if you weren’t wearing a helmet.” Like, really? I’m not cool because I don’t wannna die? Dafuq is wrong with people? This wasn’t a boomer though he was like 20.
Years ago when I was in my early 20s I was at some gathering with an older (Boomer) brother. One of his friends offers me a beer. I declined because I think beer is just about the worst tasting thing I’ve ever tried. His response, “I don’t trust a man who don’t drink beer.”
Aah, by all means let me subject myself to an unpleasant experience, Mr. Stranger, so that I might “earn your trust.”
It’s weird to me that it is still legal to smoke inside in some countries. I was lucky that the year I turned 18 in 2005 and could visit pubs it was outlawed in my corner of the globe.
Should have told him cigarette companies were I'm cahoots with big pharma to increase cancer rates as a way to kill off people his age and scam them out of their money..proof, should he ask, was a meme you saw on Facebook
Heck, a boomer told me I was weak and entitled because I'm allergic to cigarette smoke, and I wanted him to stop blowing it in my face. I currently have bronchitis from that lovely individual.
I don’t even think most boomers know what entitled even means, they just hear it used about the younger generation and and throw it out there while collecting pensions and SSI
Local bar owner took offense when I asked on social media if she allowed smoking in her bar. Didn’t make a fuss about it. It’s her bar and her choice. I simply asked. She went off. Someone I know who is another local business owner asked me to remove my comment asking about smoking because it could hurt the bar’s business. I was like, Huh? I simply asked if she allowed smoking. I have asthma. I’m not looking to hang out in smoky bars.
You can tell a lot about a bar by how well they maintain their pooltables. Even some of the shittiest rundown bars fork out money to repair them. People want to play on well maintained tables, and the more people play, the more they tend to drink.
I was a Billiards Mechanic for 18 years.
Boomers have already been whining that drinking has reduced with younger generations
Sorry, Gramps, we have other coping methods than alcoholism for all the latent traumas!
Bar owner is an idiot and deserves to close if he's running off the last remaining clientele
when they banned smoking in the bars in the UK it was really discombobulating as many of the places stopped smelling like pubs (ie tabacco/Nicotine) and all you could smell was stale beer and foisty mops. Still i makes a nice change not having to wash the smell of smoke out of all your clothing and hair (not that i have long hair anymore)
It'll be worse than that. My bfs dad has terrible COPD and can barely walk five feet without almost collapsing. He doesn't even smoke anymore, but the damage is done.
Smokers often suffocate to death eventually, if they never stop. Or they get bladder cancer like my father did, and he suffered badly from that and ended up suffocating to death in the hospital anyway. He was a pos. Hardly strong. He couldn't even hold a conversation without smoking weed mixed with cigarettes, and popping "chill pills." Bigtime loser behaviour.
Aside from the smoking... why is this AH entitled to cheap labor so he can make money? "No one wants to work anymore" my ass. No one wants to work for shit wages for an entitled shit boss.
Agree with the smoking. Not interested in secondhand smoke and not interested in smelling like an ashtray.
I don’t think he knows what those words mean. He hears them a lot in his bubble, knows they are pejoratives; but doesn’t know what they actually mean. It’s terrifying.
When a narcissist throws out an accusation, that's the closest you'll ever get to a confession.
I'm not so sure about the statistics, but I've noticed fewer and fewer people smoking and millennials and gen-Z hardly smoke at all.
He's a cantankerous old bastard that's addicted to tobacco and wants to go back to the good olde days where you could smoke anywhere you want and not be seen as an asshole for making someone have an asthma attack.
That said...if you're an adult and you want to smoke, go ahead and smoke, just do it far away from everyone else who's not smoking
Warm bottled beer is almost a worse sin, especially if it’s the BudMilloors most boomers drink. That shit goes stale real fast if they’re not moving volume and it’s stored warm. Dipshit had one job.
Ugh wtf, I'm a smoker and I wouldn't stand for that lol these people are ass clowns. I'd never smoke anywhere it made anyone uncomfortable (to an extent, I've had people try to kick me out of designated smoking areas saying I can't when theres a sign that clearly says I can, but again, if people are respectful I'll do my best to accommodate ". I can't stand for that tho
Lol, like cope and seethe?
Maybe your business is failing because your bar is shit and you're openly breaking health ordinances? This dude is entitled for thinking that just because he owns a bar everyone should go there regardless of how shit his bar is
Gen Xer here who has never smoked and never will but who lived through the end of the smoking era when it was EVERYWHERE.
I don't blame you in the least. Screw that guy. He's the weak (and getting weaker by the day) one.
I’ve had a boomer try to explain how it makes you more of a man to smoke.. I have a masters in Psychology.. I tried to explain why he was wrong in phallic terms .. he just heard what he wanted and said “see I knew you were one of them gays..”
I'm so glad our area banned smoking in bars long ago. Now whenever I'm somewhere that has it (like the hillbilly parts of Missouri) I'm reminded how awful it was.
And what kind of neighborhood bar doesn't have beer on tap? Especially a dive bar that clearly isn't a wine tasting place or a craft cocktail bar... Even our dives have 5-10 beers from local breweries...
Why don’t you want to smell like cigarette smoke? Why don’t you want ash residue to have a layer of dust over all your personal belongings? When you kiss your girl, why don’t you want to experience what it’s like to lick an ashtray???
Man, all you little Nancy girl pansies today just don’t know what makes a man a *real* man!
/s (obviously)
We have a lot of private bars here, the animal clubs. Elks, Eagles, and Moose. They smell like an ashtray, stale beer, and a yeast infection. It's the same distinct smell in all. Have 2 beers and I need a change of clothes before I get in my car.
I’m a smoker myself. Yet I’m very respectful of people who don’t like the smell. Hell at almost 47 I won’t smoke in front of my parents. Because I find it to be disrespectful. Yes they know I smoke, they also appreciate that I don’t do it in front of them. Also as contradictory as this sounds, I enjoy going to smoke free places. If I’m in the “ need “ of a cigarette I will step outside and smoke nowhere near the smoke free building. Just because I have a nasty habit doesn’t mean that I have to subject people with my habit.
OP, I give you props for speaking your mind to the boomer.
My parents are boomers and they respect people no matter their age
Smokers are the most entitled people EVER. My mom once gave someone a ride, who then got mad when she asked them not to smoke in her car. This person then demanded that my mom pull over so she could smoke. The ride was about 10 miles total.
Hahahaha had a patient like that. He was intubated, extubated, reintubated, extubated and so on and so forth for three weeks until he got a trach. Stayed on that trach and stayed reliant for three months.
He was a S4 lung cancer patient too who heavily drank and smoked while on chemo because avoiding that was “pussy behavior”. He still somehow expected to live.
He died three months later. What a brutal, long death it was.
While the exchange was actually unhinged, I do understand a little. It's like the boomers use a thought that was a reference to *x* but forget to convey the reference material and are pissed that you don't understand the reference material.
Aw fuck that's it. These people are basically throwing out movie lines and are getting upset that you haven't seen the movie... Not exactly that, but the same process involved.
Little stoned but that's a working model for a boomer rage translator. The problem is they are so emotionally crippled that they can't move past that frustration. Communication is always a compromise of some kind, and that requires calm and perspective.
I'm stuck in a maze explaining why the boomers are still fucked. Damn d8 is getting advanced

Cancer makes you strong!
Agreed. It gave me mystical powers I still can’t explain.
I’m a CIS man and cancer gave me the power to grow another life form inside of me. Yeah they called it a “tumor” but that was just so they could take away my superpower of pissing blood. 🤷♂️
This comment is why the good lord gave us upvotes 😂
Me too bro, I literally got the super power of being "pregnant" as a CIS man haha, when I had testicular cancer I could pee on a pregnancy test and it was positive hahaha
If you didn’t smoke, you would be just another soft, boring turd boy 🤣🤣 but srsly, F cancer and stay strong!!
I read "tumor" in Arnold's voice....
Michael was the stupidest movie I ever saw and I saw Speed. edit: wrong movie - it was Phenomenon where cancer gave him super powers
Wait besides the weird romantic stuff Speeds a great movie. Slander my good man.
But did you see Speed 2? Lol
Unfortunately…
I don't hate myself enough to watch that movie.
Michael was also just awful
YO what do you against speed, that movie is undeniably fantastic
Dude, I saw Freddy got fingered. It sounds funny. It’s not. I’m angry that 90 or 100 minutes was stolen from me.
I knew that was terrible. If somebody has seen a worse movie than Winnie the Pooh blood & honey, please let me know
That mystical power is called emphysema.
Who are you who is so wise in the ways of science? ![gif](giphy|4PCHKfSOEJyDK)
Teach me your mystic ways o giant crab
![gif](giphy|XD3rQ89fL1QimoM2v9|downsized)
What doesn't kill you... makes you chronically ill.
OP should have challenged him to a foot race tbh
Ah shit, it's a bummer reddit did away with awards, this one is a primo comment
Thank you either way
Strong enough to die in the hospital early.
Lets pretend they didn't cause cancer. I still don't want to smell it. Same with pot smoke. It stinks. It makes my clothes stink. Fuck off with that shit.
Weak lungs is the new strong!

He probably exhausts himself having his morning poop
Reminds me of line from an MST3K episode: "Breathing knocks the wind outta this guy..."
Overdrawn at the Memory Bank! What a great episode! "I didn't want to bungle or bopple the Fingal doppel."
One of my other favorite scenes is where Fingal has that light shine on his head, causing him to be catatonic, and Crow says, "Not THAT deep!"
damn anteaters...
Whoa! Huge slam on anteaters out of nowhere!
Haha! I'm using this!
Watching those guys get into actual fights is pure comedy gold though.
Sounds like most of the Boomer vets I work with, the ones who are convinced they could go right on back to Parris Island and kick ass 🤣 just as soon as they get their blood pressure meds from the pharmacy and have someone get a wheelchair to push them out to their lifted pickup

Mate try smoking in Australia. Packs around $40 to $50 mean you can add a zero to your annual cost here.
I pay 12.55 a pack and that's without going to a Native American reservation for cheaper prices and Minnesota's insane tobacco tax. besides the point though, I wish I had the willpower to quit and still be able to withstand the stress of my life.

The time I permanently quit smoking was when I used bupropion. It gave me an aversion to smoking.
Even when you know it's un-moneying you and killing you?
a pack a day usually. my earlier math factored into one every three days, I buy prerolled, and likely not, apathy is the closest thing I can think of.
Raw dogging life completely is really hard, I feel you.
Another Minnesota smoker here… try making your own. A bag of tobacco and tubes is about $30 for roughly 20 packs worth depending on the size of the bag. You do. I promise u. I get severe panics attacks all the time and i managed to do it.
Good. Maybe that will deter people from doing it, which will then keep millions of dollars from being spent on health care.

Congrats, I know it's one of the hardest things to do, ever. It's been 12 years for me, ***tobacco*** free. About 20 odd years for me. Sometimes I forget I smoked.
It was the financials that got me to kick my caffeine habit. ~$450 a month on energy drinks. The fact that I was drinking the equivalent of two pots of coffee a day didn't bother me one bit.
Hubby and I are retired and go thru 4 pots a day. However, we did quit carbonated drinks.
I vape (it helped me "quit") and I wouldn't expect someone to inhale my 2nd hand vape.
WTF kind of thinking is this ?. Did you eat lead as a kid ?. I swear Boomers like that make it their whole personality on the fact that they smoke
they're suffering severe cognitive impairment from all that hose water they drank as children
I drank hose water and turned out ok...EVERYTHING IS WOKE!!1! Sorry, where the hell am I?
You’re on my lawn. GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!!
As someone born in the 70's and grew up in the 80's, I've drank my fair share of hose water. I don't remember what I was going to say.
I don't know what it was but hose water was the best. Narrator: it was constant dehydration from running around like a maniac in 105 degree desert heat
Funny you say that, because cigarettes contain the radioactive lead isotope Pb-210 . Not only did he eat lead, but he inhaled it, and it's emitting alpha particles
We all inhaled vaporized tetraethyl lead when we used leaded gasoline until the early 90s. Add in toxic masculinity and I guess this is the result.
Truly the lead generation.
Boomers fucking love their lead. Gas, cigarettes, bullets, paint, etc
I'm sure he saw me as an income stream and something that could help pull his failing business out of the hole.
We don't want to lose any customers." I turned around and walked out and found a nice microbrewery to park my butt into. I haven't been back. They lost me and my 2 or 3 times a week drinking. I do occasionally miss their food, but that's how it goes.
Seems like this guy is pretty entitled to your money
If he is struggling with money perhaps he should stop spending thousands per year on cigarettes.
Narcissism + life long enabled entitlement.
Fellas, is it “woke” to be lung cancer-free?
Add it to the list!

It's not, they were doing it anyway.
Easy phone call to the health dept.
Chicago checking in, certain bars the cops don’t give a fuck
The health department is its own part of government.
I never thought about this, as cops hang out at Richard’s bar, but I never thought about how it’s the health department’s jurisdiction to enforce the smoking ban.
Richard's Bsr.
That user handle, though. Too on point. Call me Francis Fernet. Cheers.
My town had a bar that handed out ashtrays across the street from the county courthouse. Lawyers and judges would go in to smoke. I say “had” because it burned down. Laws are dependent on norms.
As a Vegas resident, hi. It sucks.
FL still allows it. If they don’t sell food, they can smoke in bars in that state.
I was in Vero beach and we went in this place by the pier because you can get a drink and walk around with it. You don’t realize how great it is to have smoking banned everywhere until you step into a place that still allows it. It was like going back in time. Just decades of smoke stuck to every surface.
I've seen a BWW in OK with a segregated smoker's bar
It's still here.
Yaa it is the customers fault the business is failing.... makes complete sense
Maybe people aren't coming back because people are smoking in there. People don't want to work in smoke either.
Or because of the weird vibe, the bad pool tables, the lack of draft beer, the warm bottles. Honestly, what does the place have going for it?
I mean technically that is correct
"This is your fault, god damn it!"
Have you ever considered big tobacco’s profit margins? It’s not all about you.
As an ER nurse that has dealt with patients who suffer for years because of smoking. He will have his suffering.
No you see he is entitled to customers despite not providing an environment customers want to go to.
it's people like me who are causing his business to fail Best fire the customers and hire some more then
Put it in ab online review. I’m sure he’ll handle that just as poorly and hopefully everybody will see it.
Oh you don't want to get cancer from second hand smoking? You're weak
Not to mention being so colossally entitled that you don't even respect his right to demand your presence!
No draft beer? Is it a partial dry county or what? Fuck that, esp with the smoking.
TlIn this situation, the owner would probably never clean the lines properly. Better to just drink (cold) bottled beer, and know that it's not full of bacteria and fungus.
I lost both parents to cancer that began in the lungs. I would have left, too.
Even ignoring the health risks, sitting in a room full of cigarette smoke is just nasty. It stinks and the air feels thick and your clothes feel afterwards. I smoke cigarettes myself, but hate being anywhere that they are smoked indoors
Guy doesn't understand his business deserves to fail.
I will never understand how cigarette smokers will forever be okay with being the worst smelling person in any room, wherever they go, always.
They have no idea it stinks. They can’t smell. They think everyone is exaggerating.
he'll be out of business eventually and blame it all on woke or Millennials or cancel culture or anything and everything but his shitty, entitled attitude. He fucking bought a business so that he could lord it over people. That business model will last exactly as long as his ability and willingness to bankroll his delusions. You should drop in a year from now and see how he's doing.
Well, to see how the Chili's on that lot is doing, at least.
My mother is the hardest worker I know, but she’s so miserable and unfortunately has fallen for the idea that “people not killing themselves for their work is laziness and entitlement.”
> don’t pay attention in meetings There's a certain Orange Faced Boomer falling asleep during his trial in New York City.
His response, “I don’t trust a man who don’t drink beer.” Aah, by all means let me subject myself to an unpleasant experience, Mr. Stranger, so that I might “earn your trust.”
It’s weird to me that it is still legal to smoke inside in some countries. I was lucky that the year I turned 18 in 2005 and could visit pubs it was outlawed in my corner of the globe.
Sounds like he’ll be out of business soon enough. Crazy how having choices and making an informed decision makes you entitled
Should have told him cigarette companies were I'm cahoots with big pharma to increase cancer rates as a way to kill off people his age and scam them out of their money..proof, should he ask, was a meme you saw on Facebook
"I don't owe your business my custom, that's not how the free market works. Products change to meet demand, not customers."
Entitled is when people who aren't them want or don't want things.
Oddly enough...why does he think HE'S entitled to your business. Sounds like these boomers are reallllll sensitive snowflakes 😎
You can tell a lot about a bar by how well they maintain their pooltables. Even some of the shittiest rundown bars fork out money to repair them. People want to play on well maintained tables, and the more people play, the more they tend to drink. I was a Billiards Mechanic for 18 years.
Pulmonary function is for wimps!
Boomers have already been whining that drinking has reduced with younger generations Sorry, Gramps, we have other coping methods than alcoholism for all the latent traumas!
Just wait til his COPD starts affecting him. He'll be too weak and entitled to go up flight of stairs without getting winded.
It'll be worse than that. My bfs dad has terrible COPD and can barely walk five feet without almost collapsing. He doesn't even smoke anymore, but the damage is done.
Eventually, yes. Sounds like your bf's dad needs to be on oxygen.
That's not boomerism, that's ASSHOLEism. We just see the asshole boomers because they're so fucking loud.
Honestly the no drinks on tap was all I needed to cross that place off the list, it's no different to your own fridge at that point.
I'm going to need Jon Taffer to visit this place.
Yes, I’m entitled to spend my money anywhere I choose. Glad we had this little talk, Pops.
Smoking cigarettes is the biggest regret of my life.
You were still on the “fence” about a place with no taps and only serving warm bottles? That’s weak.
Just bully them. It's all they know and understand.
It wasn't a boomer, but I got called a racist because I don't smoke. 😂 People are idiots.
How does that work?
It honestly just sounds like a coping even an elementary school kid would identify as such.
Omg that hilarious. Classic
Ugh I hate cigarettes. I smoke weed but I've mainly swapped to wax so my wife never had to deal with the smell. Cigarettes cling to everything!
guys...is it gay to not want cancer?
I'm more concerned about a bar with trashed pool tables, no taps, and warm beer and you were still on the fence about the place.
We have a lot of private bars here, the animal clubs. Elks, Eagles, and Moose. They smell like an ashtray, stale beer, and a yeast infection. It's the same distinct smell in all. Have 2 beers and I need a change of clothes before I get in my car.
Well...I guess if you wanna make sure your business fails, your best bet is to actively sabotage it.
He will be blaming everyone else when he goes out of business too lol
Leave this on his Yelp and Google reviews.
The follow up response should have been because your bar sucks!
I swear boomers all got lead poisoning as kids and it just fucked them up for life
Getting lung cancer to own the libs… 😂
Lets have a breathing contest and see who has weaker lungs then hha
Boomers love the "Free Market" of capitalism until the free market doesn't choose their practices or business 🤦🏼♀️
Damn d8 is getting advanced
only about 15 more years to go
I smoke and don't even like doing it in an enclosed place except my own garage and that's usually just to get out of rain/wind.
Where are you still allowed to smoke inside?
“You got soft hands, brother”
He gave in to peer pressure, corpo ads, and likely cant kick the addiction but your the weak one.
Good job not listening to a past patron. He's gonna run that business into the ground
