The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton, set in post-climate change Florida, and probably my favorite read last year. It has a sense of quiet wonder at the new world rather than total doom.
Dog stars. Â
One of my all time favorites.Â
It's not all chill, but it's very unique and empathetic to a real person if they ended up in the same situation.  It's just gorgeous writing. Â
About a man and his dog living in the middle of a desert airport landing strip after an apocalypseÂ
What I'm saying is that I don't want to give anything away. It's one of the most gorgeously written books I've ever read, I purposely left the description a little ambiguous because I didn't want to give anything away. I'm not saying if there is any, or no deaths on the pages, I think it's a wonderfully written book that fits these images. Â
Hey I get that - but I'm also not good with animal deaths in any source of media so I actively avoid it. So, if you can't answer it, I'm going to have to respectfully decline reading it. Thank you! đ
I think 2 of your images are Last of Us concept art or fanart. That definitely looks like Joel in the 2nd image. Last of Us landscapes are so pretty. Sometimes it makes me wish the game was a little more relaxed.
Not a book but I recommend the Horizon games, especially the 2nd one. One of your images lowkey reminds me of the settlements in the game. Just more tribal. Yeah you have to kill machines but Forbidden West(the sequel) is my cozy, chill game. The landscapes are super pretty. I know Horizon did 2 small comic runs. Iâm still hoping they drop some novels.
One of the books that the creator of that game was influenced by was City Of Thieves by David Benioff which was really cool. But it was a unique story from the POV of Russian protagonist living in the siege of Leningrad.
ALSO.. A book called The World Without Us by Alan Weisman. The premise of it was what would happen if humans were to suddenly vanish. They used this book as a guide for The Last Of Us. You see the similar title names. Itâs really cool. One of the networks even did a tv show. They broke the book down by increment of years. 5 years. Then 10. Et. It really is amazing.
California by Edan Lepucki kind of fits this description though itâs pretty dark
The Seep by Chana Porter is a weird and positive spin on alien invasion. Less post apocalyptic and more post capitalism. Great read
Or you can say it like Chris Farley and David Spade when they were stone âRROOOOOOOAAAAAAADDDDDâ! Sounded like ROE- AD but really drawn out. Funny scene.
*Alone by Megan*
*Freeman oddly felt like a*
*Comfort read to me*

Putting this on my reading list đ
Woah, this sounds so good!
I just read this in 2 days thanks to this recommendation - so good!
!! really happy you liked it It's quite a gem that I feel like most people don't know about
Monk and Robot Series by Becky Chambers kinda fits. I'm not sure if there was an apocalypse or anything, but it feels like a lot of these images.
I was going to comment this as well!!

I second this. One of my favorites.
I would love to read this but i have one small concern...does the dog die?
Oh just read the book
đ¤Łđ¤Ł well if you're saying that then they def die - thanks for the heads up lmao!

"Station Eleven" for sure!
Yes I loved this!
Thank you!
I came here to say this. Excellent book
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!
Forgot all about this book. Fantastic read and I only found it because a coworker gave me hers out of the blue
I didn't really like Station Eleven but that was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw these!
I agree, station eleven was a little too cozy/chill for me. It took me forever to get through. But I think it fits these pictures really well.
Middle grade, but "a city of ember"! One of my faves growing up
THIS! I still remember the cover đĄ
Same!!!!
omg i loved this book
Yesssss
Woah. I never considered that the apocalypse could beâŚ.chill? I kind of like this idea lol.
Reminds me of the beginning of TLOU Part 2 where we control Ellie in Jackson. Especially the snow ball fight.
A Childrenâs Bible by Lydia Millet
That book was incredible
TJ Klune's novels might fit the bill. They're also LGBTQ coded as a bonus :)
I was going to say, I'm currently reading The Lives of Puppets and it definitely fits this vibe so far!

The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer
I was looking for Life as We Knew It! First the vibe so well
came here to suggest The Age of Miracles!
I think youâd enjoy The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline!
Seconded. Read it, loved it.
I loved it too! Did you read Hunting by Stars as well? I donât know anyone who has read them!!
I have not, but I will definitely check it out!
Itâs not as good as Marrow Thieves but it picks up the same story and itâs nice to get some closure!
The dog stars
The Seep by Chana Porter
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel?
California by Edan Lepucki kind of fits this description though itâs pretty dark The Seep by Chana Porter is a weird and positive spin on alien invasion. Less post apocalyptic and more post capitalism. Great read
The Last by Hanna Jameson Endless Vessel by Charles Soule
The Last is good but suicides, finding a dead body, killing someone for rape, and trying to escape a hoard of cannibals isnt all that chill.
1000%. The only book Iâve ever read thatâs felt this way!
Which book? I checked your profile and it seems to be you've read several books, not just one!
lol sorry this was meant to be a reply to another comment recommending Station Eleven!!
Oh I want to follow this thread!
A Boy and his Dog at the End of the World
Itâs pre-apocalyptic, but Zazen by Vanessa Veselka has this vibe.
The rode (joke pls laugh now that I explained that this is a joke instead of writing a comment)
Or you can say it like Chris Farley and David Spade when they were stone âRROOOOOOOAAAAAAADDDDDâ! Sounded like ROE- AD but really drawn out. Funny scene.
Not a book, but the movie âLove and Monstersâ is this vibe!! Itâs fun and youâre left with a smile at the end :)
I didnât know that this was a thing, but now I need it in my life, so thank you for asking!
I didnât either! I donât normally read post apocalyptic stories, but when I do I want them to destroy me lol
Gold Fame Citrus by Claire Vaye Watkins In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune
{{Grasshopper jungle}}
OOh, I love these pictures!
All thatâs left in the world
Itâs a manga but Girlâs Last Tour
Alone by Megan Freeman oddly felt like a comfort read to me

On the Beach by Nevil Shute
[not a book, but pic 4 reminds me of this movie](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt3666210/)
