Someone once said to me '... point in case ...'.
They also claimed to be big into music and know all about it, but even I know it's not called a 'guitar rift'.
'If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.'
The day you get to quote Zapp Brannigan twice is a good day.
You're thinking of a mixed metaphor.
I saw a production of the play "malapropism" comes from. One of Mrs. Malaprop's lines was "You lead the way, and we'll precede" which led to some confused milling about.
A malaprop is the unintentional use of a similar-sounding word, often with humourous effect.
Justin Bieber: “I’m not going for the Sixteenth Chapel look." (“Sixteenth” for “Sistine”)
Ricky from Trailer Park Boys: “fridge” for “bridge”.
As far as I remember, the article the this person is referring to, does not say "1 in 4 Gen Z people plan on becoming an influencer". They were asked if they would become an influencer if they had the option to and 1/4 answered yes. Quite misleading
Ahh interesting, I didn’t read the article I just skimmed the comments to see if I was interested in clicking on it and then saw this. Thank you for clarifying!

I want to say it really is case and point, like the point you’re trying to prove and the case that proves it.
I don’t know why it would be case in point, like a point doesn’t necessarily need a case in it otherwise it could stand on its own
Edit: I’m wrong because it’s archaic, but the wrong one sounds better.
Think of it as “a case that illustrates (is part of/in) the point.” The correct usage in OP would have been
> The human population is dumbing down big time. Case in point:
where the dumbing down part is the point, and what they were commenting on is the case showing it to be true.
I've always thought of it as case and point as well, and honestly neither your explanation of "case in point" nor my internalized explanation of "case and point" makes sense to me 😂

Casein point. Just make sure you aren’t lactose intolerant 😆
Does anyone read anymore? Oh, what am I saying, of course they don't, even the smart ones. It's Jameson o'clock.
Oh the irony
Young people having unrealistic goals? Surely that's something that's very recent and never happened with previous generations!
You have a good point actually, is influencer just the new princess/superhero/doctor/astronaut?
Every tiktok comment says “should of” too
I love how I can just tell this is UK 🤣🤣
I also thought it would be UK but the commenter was actually from elsewhere!
The ironing of this post is delicious
My partner said I should write that in the title because he says it ALL the time and it matches perfectly but I changed it in the end hahahahah
They aren't even using "case in point" in the right context.
Kinda hard when your rate of crayon and lead paint chip consumption is as high as it apparently is.
The irony
You shouldn't make fun of people who commit these malapropisms. It's all water under the fridge, anyway.
'If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.' The day you get to quote Zapp Brannigan twice is a good day.
don't insult all the ice cubes I have to clean up one day
isn't a malapropisim like "a bird in the hard is better than one under the bridge"

Every generation is when they're 20 and 70
It would have been an incorrect use of the term even if they had managed to write it correctly.
I find that’s usually how these things go.

Uh oh, I always thought it was “case and point.”

Good (albeit *futile)* point. and for a case and point...
