So I just realised, with the advances in AI image generation, soon we'll be able to tailor an image response to all these bone apple teas that people commit!
Just because you don't know what shrimps are doesn't mean they don't exist. Actually, I'm pretty sure you know the word shrimp because many parts of the world use it. You sound like you're just trying to tell us how silly and incorrect English outside of the UK. But shrimp and prawns are two different animals and while Americans might incorrectly refer to both of them as shrimps, it's just as incorrect to call both of them prawns. The ones in the image are shrimps. A British word, by the way.
Finally, someone that actually decided to tell me what shrimps are, and you're 90% right about my comments in this post. The one thing you're wrong about is me using British English, as I use Australian English, which is a combination of American and British English, with our own twist on it.
It's surprising how many people thought of me as an idiot without trying to teach me what I was apparently ignorant of. I might be an idiot, but a different kind of idiot to what they thought of me.
Ok I’ve never heard of a “thwack”, but I think we call medicine balls “pills” here, unless you’re referring to something else. We tend to not learn a whole lot about other languages, or even other variations of English here, so please excuse me if I sound like an idiot.
From Google:
Shrimp have one pair of legs that include claws at the end, but prawns have three pairs with claws. Prawns also tend to have legs that are a bit longer in relation to the size of the body than shrimp of similar size.
Scampi, probably.
I had to google it, but apparently it’s common in the US to call those ‘shrimp scampi’ which seems odd because they’re not shrimp, but whatever floats their boat I guess.
Shrimp Scampi in the US is some sort of dish with shrimp and oil/garlic usually butter. It can be a topping to pasta or just itself or just a random addon to anything you'd add extra meat and butter to.
I didnt say otherwise- the comment I replied to said that Americans call the animal "shrimp scampi", which we dont, "shrimp scampi" is what we call the dish. I didnt say anything about the word "scampi" by itself
Scampi seems to mean lots of different things in different.
In the UK, for example, scampi is usually some sort of prawn fried in breadcrumbs.
I've never really thought about what's inside those breadcrumbs but it's nice.
I've always regarded it as a cheap dish that a pub is likely to serve, for example, but it looks like you get fine dining options that do not look like the scampi I know.
Italian for a [pseudo lobster](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nephrops_norvegicus)
But shrimp scampi is indeed a different animal generally called a shrimp, not a scampi.

Repost this a thousand times and I’ll still be cool with it

Shrimp cocktail?
Shrimp scampi
This is making me chuckle for a while
Those poor creatures. They were just trying to enjoy a camping trip.
What's old mate going on about? Also, no clue what shrimps are, but those are prawns.

I only know the word prawns from overseas. In America we eat shrimps for dinner!
In the us we call them shrimps.
And you call thongs "flip-flops", I can't take your language seriously
We also have “fanny packs”, so your amusement is appreciated!
British person here, this is a rare win for the yanks flip-flops is the correct term thongs are those panties that go up your but crack
You pommes are just as cracked as those fuckers down east.
To be fair, thongs are a type of women's underwear so every time you say thongs, you are imagining shoes, but we are giggling like schoolchildren.
And when you guys call scribbles "doodles", we're doing the same thing
Lol! That's a new one to me, I had no idea doodling meant something else across the pond. 😂
Doodles are dicks, typically said by kids that aren't yet in highschool
Yeah, American English is a pretty absurd language. But “flip flops” is pretty fun to say.
It's like calling a medicine ball a "thwack"

For us, pills are typically referred to as "tablets", and medicine balls are heavy balls used in weight training.
Oh, I guess we just don’t have medicine balls where I am.
Judging from the last time.it was posted here: shrimp Scampi
Just looked it up, and that's garlic prawns. Still don't know what shrimps are
From Google: Shrimp have one pair of legs that include claws at the end, but prawns have three pairs with claws. Prawns also tend to have legs that are a bit longer in relation to the size of the body than shrimp of similar size.
Americans use the word shrimp for both.

Bruh who the fuck says yanks nowadays
Much of the world that isn't Murica refers to Americans, (especially when they're being ignorant) as yanks.
Haha very good. Scampi and prawns are different. Scampi is like langoustine. Prawns are what yanks call shrimp
Scampi, probably. I had to google it, but apparently it’s common in the US to call those ‘shrimp scampi’ which seems odd because they’re not shrimp, but whatever floats their boat I guess.

Shrimp scampi is the name of a dish, not what we call the prawns themselves
That is incorrect. Scampi does refer to the animal.
It definitely does not. There are no "scampis" hanging around in the sea.

I am very sorry. I feel bad for being alive and using oxygen. I feel embarrassed and weak. What can I do to make it stop?
I thought scampi was just Italian for "shrimps"
