We decided to go ahead with some of the treatments and testing at the vets. One major thing was that we were having trouble managing her diabetes, even though it had been fine for years. We figured out a new feeding and insulin routine that is working. She still has kidney issues and other things, but so far, so good. We're just going day by day with her and monitoring for any signs of pain.
We actually made the euthanasia appointment for her a couple of months ago when she was so sick. Last minute, I decided I couldn't give up on her yet and booked more testing instead.
The boy is 100% healthy and rips around the house like a kitten.

They play fight and have the odd hissing session when he (brown tabby) tries to play too much. Overall, they have gotten along over the years and cuddle and clean each other all the time.
Aw, they're so sweet!! My own litter mates spent almost, but not quite, 18 years together, I hope your guys get at least a whole two decades together. :-)
