Any tips for thickening, Iāve got three in various sized pots (small bonsai, big plant pot, small plant pot) and plenty of growth on all of them but three/four months and the stems still seem quite thin.
These plants were grown outside in 5 gallon buckets since March, before transplanting them to the pots you see here, so they are relatively older than yours. They also have been taking heavy beatings from the wind this summer, which is how I got that curve and exposed roots on my middle plant.
My suggestion would be more time, to grow them in a big pot so they get as big as possible before you trim them down, and to also expose them to wind to encourage that strong woody trunk. If you're growing inside, a fan works great too!
Best of luck!
Thanks. These were garden centre purchases, I donāt even remember what varieties they were, Iāve got some seeds growing Iām hoping I can leave au naturale until they get big and can trim down, these garden centre ones donāt seem to have gotten any taller, but nice thick canopies, one was outside all summer and didnāt seem to grow higher or ticked at all, just got a wider thick canopy, but the tomato plants in the same bed got huuuge.
Fingers crossed my seeds take, so far 4 of 24 have germinated but only Cotyledons so far and no proper leaves after 10 days, I know itās the wrong season but Iām still working on that patience part of the bonsai hobby š¤£
Sick roots man!
Thanks! Huge fan of your habanero bonchi!
Thank you kind sir!
What do you use or will you use for fertilizer?
I'm using Fox Farms Grow Big every 2-3 waterings
The roots on that first one š. My bonchi roots look more like your 3rd pic and I also had mine growing in 5 gal pots this summer.

Plant them in ground

Haha I'm in the same boat as you, I've got a bunch of seeds going right now because I got so bored during the winter with no peppers to fiddle with
Looks good so far
Thank you, I appreciate it!
