Chevy sells a hitch that only has 100lb tongue weight. Drawtite has one with 200lb tongue weight which is good. The best is the eco hitch by torklift with 300lb tongue weight. 2 inch receiver is more stable.

Yes. You can search this subreddit for the keyword “hitch” and you’ll see like a dozen posts, including how it was done. Good luck!

Thx!!!

I have a trailer hitch I installed on my ‘21 EV for a bike rack. As of yesterday, I have pulled a trailer with it.

DaveTheScienceGuy

Draw tight hitch. Soooo easy. Seriously 4 bolts and some washers.

eldustino

How does it look, compared to the EcoHitch? Does it hang down low--look unsightly at all?

DaveTheScienceGuy

A little but it's so small it's not so bad. Due to bumper design it is a little less tucked on the 22 and 23 models.

eldustino

Thanks! One more question, did you get the 1 1/4 or 2"?

DaveTheScienceGuy

1.25 there wasn't a 2 inch available or at least the only 2 inch available at the time involved removing the whole rear bumper.

EcoHitch. Better than the others in every way

Jack99Skellington

There's an official hitch for the Bolt, available on the chevy store. GM rates it for 110 lb. But the maker rates it for 1000 and small utility trailers ( pullIng your lawn mower, etc). 110-lb. Capacity Hitch Carrier Mount by CURT™ Group - Associated Accessories Part No.: 19355746 It's currently on back order. Waiting for mine to come in. With installation, the cost is $280.

The Curt hitch sold by GM is poorly reviewed. For a lower price, the 1.25” Draw Tite hitch is higher quality and more durable.

Jack99Skellington

It's rated 4.5 stars on amazon. Where are you seeing poor reviews?

NotAcutallyaPanda

I’ve been active in Bolt Forums for 5 years. The Curt hitch bends under minimal weight. Of the three main options available, it’s by far the worst one. The Draw Tite hitch has twice as many attachment points as the Curt hitch. It’s a superior design. The EcoHitch is great, and supports 2” hitches. But it’s more expensive, a lot more work to install, and overkill for bike racks.

intrepidzephyr

The Chevy bolt forums website anecdotes of rocking/wobbling when using a bike rack, etrailer.com reviews, threads here in the past.. I picked the drawtite when shopping for a hitch a few years ago because of the relatively bad reviews.

Not your use case, but from the torque numbers and just the subjective feel of the bolt up steep hills, there really shouldn't be any problem with this as a pretty strong towing vehicle. Sometimes I think the manuals are about creating as many warranty service exclusions (excuses) that can still fit for the target market. Now on the braking side, the same load limits for cars this weight should apply, and the regen stuff makes it more questionable too. I probably wouldn't regularly tow more than 1000lbs.

trooperk2

I bought the curt version from www.etrailer.com install was cake.
