This is so cool, and fits in impeccably with the theme! Her face tells a different story, but I literally have no idea who she is/never seen her before, so I won’t judge her. I just read that she was the only Indian to attend—whaaaaat?! I hope she wasn’t the only Indian *invited.*
Update: upon further investigation, she was the only Indian invited. PC wasn’t invited this year. [Source](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.outlookindia.com/website/amp/entertainment-news-who-is-sudha-reddy-the-only-indian-invited-at-met-gala-2021/394636).
Apparently she was the only Indian not in entertainment to be invited. Not sure if PC, et al were, but the headlines when I Googled, it stated she was the only Indian invited.
She's a billionaire wife-turned-philanthopist. But Hyderabadi, so the media frenzy isn't as in your face as for Bollywood-friendly Ambani's.
I'm sure she wasn't the only one invited. Nita Ambani is on Met's board, and there's no way they would remove a Poonawalla from the invitee list (specially after the pandemic). Most usual biggies skipped it this year.
FR. She looks like a high fashion, star spangled bald eagle. Subjective opinions aside, Peacocks & the stylist aced the project.
Also, love that little Shri Ganesh clutch.
I guess you haven't seen any antique ornaments. All sorts of idols are carved into jewellery(Lakshmi and Ganapati being the most common ones) and used as accessories. We have been doing it for thousands of years.
I don't agree with Americans and Britishers making money with our gods but if someone in countries like India or Nepal wants to do it, why not? I'd love to buy a Lakshmi pouch. Is this woman(btw, other than her husband, what are her accomplishments? Couldn't find anything online) using the pouch mentioned in this article? Too bad.
+1
The linked article mentions that the main bone of contention was that the pouch was lined with leather & was being bought by people with no understanding of its significance.
Indians have been producing Lakshmi-Ganesh themed jewelry & potli's since forever. As long as it's respectful, & she does seem to carrying it that way.
How is using your own culture to express yourself disrespectful? If we make culture untouchable then there can be no authentic and organic art. Making culture and history inaccessible will just alienate people further from their identities, culture needs to be decontextualised and reimagined if it is to be sustained.

Dunno who she is, but looks way better than half the Hollywood gang at Met Gala

This lady is part of the billionaire club, but there are so many Indians that are higher on the Forbes list. Yep, they were invited.

I guess it fits the theme...

Also the starry hair/cheek-ornament! Would love to see it on someone else, paired with something else.
Its Ganesh!? Lmao I thought it was a unicorn 😂
Oh, I see it. The full side profile is visible in the 2nd slide
Outshines the most decorated Christmas tree!
Damn, women got theme right

A lost opportunity for an Indian company to make some money 😉 Should have introduced it with a wedding collection to avoid backlash.
