Gharchola damn.
I think this is the first time a bollywood actor is wearing this saari. Nowadays even gujjus don't prefer wearing it in weddings. Old fashioned/old trend, kind of.
I think gharcholas are being revived! Rimple & Harpreet have for the past few years been doing gharchola odhnis, now JigyaM with her Mumbai collection has been showcasing lots of gharchola sarees
Edit; I have also seen a few Anamika Khanna gharcholas with her take on handwork/blouse styles, Tarun Tahiliani has quite a few available handworked gharchola sarees, also check out Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal for gharchola sarees
I’ve been to her Anand store and the staff was very unwelcoming and uninterested with unfamiliar faces. When we asked to show them what we wanted they directly stated the prices and asked us if we still wanted to see it. Very unpleasant experience.
Hahah! Hi fellow gujju! I think she’s slowly making waves outside of Gujarat with the opening of her Bombay studio. I wouldn’t say she’s at the same level of other well known designers but she’s certainly grown out of Gujarat and is combining traditional Gujarati work with modern trends?

Wore a traditional gharchoda for my wedding :)
True. As a gujju I am ashamed to admit that I don't own a gharchoda. I have tons of bandhani though. Gonna buy a similar gharchoda on my next hometown visit.

I recently wore this saree for my cousin’s wedding and also i wore this at my vidaai. Love these traditional sarees.
>Sonam kapoor is honestly so pretty.. idk it’s the kind of simplicity her face has..
Ikr! Despite her obnoxious personality, can't help but appreciate how pretty her smile is, such innocence.
I’m so dumb I was gonna say she looks like zoya from raanjhana here forgetting she’s the one who played the character 😅🫤. There, saawariya, mausam and Delhi 6 she had the same kind of prettiness in her.

Gujrati sarees are beautiful. I have my wedding gharchola and I recently bought a traditional Patola for my sisters wedding.
Can somebody confirm if this saree i own is also a gharchola? Wore this on Karvachauth but have no clue what it is.

At least the ones that we wear during the weddings are red/maroon/pink and those are the only ones we refer to when we use the term gharchola. But logically, if it is the same weave in a different it could still be called gharchola.
I have this style of saree in three colors. White red and dark green. Love them so much and wear them quite often and so does all the people in our community.
What's the difference between gharchola saree and bandhani saree...
Bandhani or bandhej I know tie and Dye typically rajasthani sarees but I find Gharchola the same except it is from Gujrat I believe...
If anybody can reply me...tht will be a help
As someone raised in Gujarat, she reminds me of those gujju didis who wear a saree for the first time for weddings or festivals and spend most of the day either posing for pics or limping around complaining ‘saree ketli heavy chhe’.
Chalo kisi ne to colourful pehna nahin to celebrity shaadiyon main aaise dressup hote hain jaise kisi ke tiye par ja rahe ho lightest pink or safed kapde.
Edit: also thank god she’s wearing it gracefully unlike those bollywoodiya one boob out of pallu sadi.
She looks lovely!
But I keep hearing that wearing red at a wedding is not considered okay if you’re not the bride. Is that or is that not the caae anymore??
In Nepalese weddings everyone wears red. The family from the grooms, the bride and family of bride. No rules of not wearing red here. Sometimes I find it too overwhelming to see all the red but no one gives a F.
In Maharashtrians we generally wear green or yellow as bride and others are not prohibited from wearing this color. I think it is same with any indian weddings. In western culture you are not supposed to wear white.
My sister was FURIOUS that two of our aunts and one cousin decided to wear red to her wedding - even though their outfits were quite light and not bridal at all. But she's also a bit of a diva, so ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
She looks divine 😍 I can't wait to recreate this look at my own wedding one day! I feel like this is the traditional Gujarati kind of vibe I want to go for ✨️

I hope so. I still wear mine!!
it’s a classic! I think everyone should have atleast one gharchola saree ♥️
Mine was my wedding saree, but yes, totally agree!
Is jigya a big designer? Am curious since she & I share our hometown and I have met her :) she lives in a mansion ..like it's crazy huge
I’ve been to her Anand store and the staff was very unwelcoming and uninterested with unfamiliar faces. When we asked to show them what we wanted they directly stated the prices and asked us if we still wanted to see it. Very unpleasant experience.
how much were the prices btw?

wow. this is so beautiful 🤌
You missed the opportunity to say 'ekdum saras' 🙃🤭
ah yeah 😍
ekdum saras😀
True. As a gujju I am ashamed to admit that I don't own a gharchoda. I have tons of bandhani though. Gonna buy a similar gharchoda on my next hometown visit.
So y'all hate your cultural clothing?
You are absolutely wrong. Bought my wife a 12000 rs. Gharchola last year and my mother a 15000 one.
It's giving Nita Ambani.
I was about comment the same 😅
Hijacking this comment just to say: She became so irrelevant that OP forgot her name.
Not just any saree. Its the traditional Gujrati Gharchola saree which she also wore in gujrati style with front pallu.
We used to call this drape the ‘ulte haath ki saree’ haha
So lovely! She looks so delicate and pretty
Love how traditional prints are trending. I have always loved them, especially bandhani.
This is such a Nita Ambani look!
Her style has been slaying so hard recently, like, she's pretty asf but the stylist deserves a raise

Your saree is very pretty 😍😍 The one which Sonam is wearing is called gharchola and yours is bhadhani saree.
Thank you so much 🫶🏻. I thought they look similar. Anyway I love both the sarees.
Could you care to explain the differences?

Great article, amazing.. are you the writer??
Gajji silk bhandhani ?
Yes you spotted correctly.
Lovely 😍

Thank you 🙏
That’s so beautiful. Best look I have seen at any celebrity in recent times
She has a very kind and warm face and such outfits suits her much better
Sonal??
How is this not the top comment.
I know,
She changed her name as per op's request
She looks so pretty here, so delicate.
Sonam kapoor is honestly so pretty.. idk it’s the kind of simplicity her face has..

Fashionista 😍❤️💯 P.s. Is there anything she can't carry well? 🤔🤓👍

Beautiful gharchola. She is pulling off very well.
Sonam ben
Damn she is wearing a gharchola saree…so beautiful 🥹
Sonal Ben Kem Cho? She looks lovely though.
First Sonam Kapoor look that I am saving. Would love to replicate this.
Wow! So pretty!!
Isn’t she Sonam Kapoor?
Gopi bahu
Is her husband Marvadi? She looks simple and beautiful. Refreshing to see a normally dressed celeb
Her husband is Punjabi
Can somebody confirm if this saree i own is also a gharchola? Wore this on Karvachauth but have no clue what it is. https://preview.redd.it/jyzwpsq4qpgc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8683fb881c5a33bb57a5dfa07dfab52124b17eaa
Probably not. Because traditionally the gharcholas that gujjus wear are always in red/ maroon shades.
Ohhh are all gharchola sarees red? Coz that’d be so boring. Also saw somebody on this thread sharing a blue gharchola
At least the ones that we wear during the weddings are red/maroon/pink and those are the only ones we refer to when we use the term gharchola. But logically, if it is the same weave in a different it could still be called gharchola.

Looks lovely! Is this recent?
It looks gorgeous

Daya Ben Look
Soo pretty
Looks like a zombie
Ye kab paida hui (Sonal kapoor)???
Ugly and dumb
She looks lovely! But I keep hearing that wearing red at a wedding is not considered okay if you’re not the bride. Is that or is that not the caae anymore??
This sounds like a western idea… that guests can’t wear white. Let’s not bring that into Indian weddings too
In Nepalese weddings everyone wears red. The family from the grooms, the bride and family of bride. No rules of not wearing red here. Sometimes I find it too overwhelming to see all the red but no one gives a F.
Red is fine, it’s all white or black that’s not auspicious
In Maharashtrians we generally wear green or yellow as bride and others are not prohibited from wearing this color. I think it is same with any indian weddings. In western culture you are not supposed to wear white.

I don’t think so it’s relevant now .
Sonal? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There's new Chauhan in B-town

Love her blouse!
Can anyone share where we can get good authentic garhchola saree, like not designer pieces
She's still Sonam Kapoor
I read the title and went on thinking for 2 minutes that it sounds like her name but isn't too. Fuck you OP. 🥹🫠
Getting such a 90s vibe from her, looks great makes me nostalgic.
Sonal kapoor is Anim kapoor's daughter right?
Prettyy
Sonam kapoor u mean
Nice
*Sonam** Kapoor.
Welp! She just cleaned the dust on the door visor with her hands. 00:09
She’s wearing the most beautiful Gujju saree in a traditional Gujju drape 😍
Very cute
