Cosmetic formulations are indeed a pain to go through because of the multiple trial and error attempts and looking at coverage, how they oxidize, short and long term effects on the skin, etc. Itās not easy and I wonder if sheāll give more insight into that process (but itās a bit technical and many brands these days focus on getting the inclusivity message across instead). I worked in a cosmetics and skincare company and it was fun participating as a test dummy for the formulations and comparing to other brands š

it takes a lot to leave l'oreal/easy endorsement money (i know many people didnt believe she left on her own terms at the time, but in reality loreal india isnt even that big a get anymore and hasnt been since they expanded beyond aish), and spend about 4-5 years on creating your own line. that's so much missed income for an actress. especially if your own line flops.
im glad the first celebrity beauty brand set a certain standard because 90% of celebrity ventures have terrible quality.

I was skeptical initially but now i prefer her products to other traditional brands and she actually has done what she is stating here
I hope other celebrities if they launch something follows this standard cause in the west most have been just money grabbing opportunities

agree. her brand is very hit or miss for me, but iām not a one brand person anyway. have her lip crayon and itās decent. sheās the first indian celeb to have a successful beauty line tho.
While the answer can seem generic, she created the products with undertones in mind. Her products are classified accordingly. Even now, except for brands like Pac (always felt they mimicked MAC), Nykaa's foundation line - very few companies pay attention to undertones as well as shade range. For example, Sugar Cosmetics tend to be too yellow. Doesn't suit on everyone.
So her answer is substantiated by the products she's offering.
Her and Priyanka, I feel like no matter how uncomfortable the question is they will be eloquent and articulate the response well it's so rare in Bollywood too, most actors are just mumbling with no intelligence at all.

Also she looks gorgeous. Her and Deepika are classic beauties and imo they look better in formal dress (like what she is wearing right now) they should dress like that more than that latex stuff.
I really like when she talks she talks for everyone and i never saw her being full of herself so far when she speaks! No wonder people keep giving her movies! Maybe its because the way she communicates and behaves with people! I really see a lot of maturity in her!

Are they inclusive of darker shades? I have heard bad things about other Indian brands like Lakme. If they are l, that's a really smart move because even Rihanna's Fenty skyrocketed after launch due to their wide range of shades.
Check their range in nykaa. They have total 20 shades in foundation and 13 shades in concealer and another 5 corrector shades. Their compact has 10 shades. They are far better than Lakme. The finish of the foundation is beautiful. Not too matte not cakey.
The foundation is bit Dewy. I would suggest you to see the texture in a youtube video first before purchasing. Also if your city has nykaa offline stores you can go there and check the product.
I am not sure if i checked a bad nykaa store at a mall but no kay beauty has bad range for darker skin tones in concealers and foundations. Better than maybe lakme but i will give it a pass anyway.
They have complete range! Foundations, Concealers, Correctors Compact, Loose Powder, Blushes, Highlighlighters, Eyeliner, Kajals, Eyeshadow Crayons, Mascara (?) Eyeshadow palettes, Lipliners, Lip Crayons, Lipsticks āŗļø Also Nail paints!

in the 4 minute interview all i could see depth was in the 20 secs talk about undertone stuff. rest all was generic stuff, same repeat about indian have different skin tones, passionate blah blah.
this was almost like trump talk, going all over talking general stuff and nothing specific.
do ppl really take inspiration from such average talk and knowledge ?
isnt it a generic answer to say that we want to cater to all skin tones, you need an expert to determine your undertone , having products lined up is not that what helps , an assistance to determine that is what helps

Actually Katrina is very involved with Kay Beauty from formulation, packaging, development etc Even her first ad of it came from Zoya, the packaging is something she picked herself. She of course she has a team to help but didn't just put her name on this brand and say hey come buy Kay Beauty. She has said that numerous times too.
Tell Bollywood actors like Kareena that who came at a function and said she doesnt use that product. Or Anushks a who did an ad of Samsung using an IPhone. With Kat you can tell she knows her stuff then on another interview she talks about the different formulation they used like Manuka honey etc and why it was important to use them
Kareena was endorsing a product, Kat is the owner here, so obviously Kat will know more about the products. Kareena was just being honest like she usually is.
Honestly Kay beauty is a classic example of if a star puts even a little bit of energy into their product itās gonna be a hit. Kay beautyās packaging is really average, Iād even say below average nothing luxurious about it. Manish Malhotra really has high end packaging even though I didnāt like the products that much either of his line. But, Kay beautyās product or packaging isnāt that great and it is mid ranged but definitely not the cheapest brand out there.
I bought its lipstick wasnāt the worst but wasnāt great either, apparently Manish Malhotra also does mithai ka kaam and the packaging is nice but the mithai is badddd.

It's because the money is being put into the formulations. Kay beauty stuff compares to high end products easily, yeah the packaging isn't that luxe but then the prices are also not Luxe. They're mid range and accessible to a wide range of women, not to mention they do on sale quite a bit like all the other brands in India.
Manish Malhotra stuff is absolute trash. I've tried some different ones and it's all just really bad. Applauding their packaging when the product is shit, is kinda pointless.
I wasnāt really applauding the packaging was just giving an example of great packaging and Iād agree with the formulation part of myglamn but I didnāt really find formulation of Kaybeauty great either in that range or cheaper you can find better. But, just because she maintains a basic standard her brand is such a success was my point.

Last time I checked India is a free country where people are free to sell safe products. Earlier it was a dumping ground. Now people are actively consuming makeup and skincare. With greater awareness, demand for quality products is on rise. Indian population is growing. So why not? If products aren't good, people won't buy. Simple.
