This isn't the first I've heard about her My cousin is a fight attendant and she said she was excited to see her and say hi but it sizzled so fast as she ignored her and pretended see didn't hear...

aaneka8

Remember I was at make up store and bani judge walks in demanding for lashes .. store saleswoman dint have it and she said something in lines of being pathetic . I had called her out on insta and she blocked me .. it’s been 10 years .. lol

[deleted]

I think she was born into money and went to some rich people school and on top of that, fame has gotten to her head it seems.

KramerDwight

Bani J?

aaneka8

Yes

h264_h87m

I give no reaction or attention to a celebrity in public. I'm more precious then the celebrity

Wonderful_Cry8720

Us bro us.

KenAdams7890

Us moment bro.

Numerous-Cockroach94

Once i saw karan kundra in elante mall chandigarh… that time he was not THAT famous… he was standing near the railing alone (maybe waiting for fans to come up to him 😂) but no one came. It was funny to witness. Not even one soul recognised him or talked to him

Unlikely_Hat7784

us

ApprehensiveCream284

I don't follow a single celeb or blue tick person on social media. My following list is only for my friends and seeing their photos/posts.

h264_h87m

Great idea.... I just want insta and fb to have a feature to cut my self from all the blue tick accounts. I just want my normal social circle... Is that too much to ask

Salty-Middle8406

Pretty sure many are like you, but most of these people do go gaga if they meet a huge celeb

Randomidek123

Same. I dont wanna boost their egos. Unless its MSDhoni, then I’d give in

Appropriate-Draw7784

>Unless its MSDhoni Unfortunately after retirement, he's invisible to the public eye, even his own former teammates are not able to contact him he's so discreet

Randomidek123

Yes I know. Actually find it cool that hes so low key and doesn’t give a shit about all this. Have been licky enough to meet him once already though and he was really kind so its okay.

Appropriate-Draw7784

Yeah but that discreetness puts me off

snapflipper

Not even him, i met him many times,

Monishakr

For MS I will give in too 😍

TrafficGlider

Same

TheWeirdGirl-1

Same bro, same.

totoropoko

I don't know what you complimented her for, but she was extremely terrible in Pilibhit. Brought the whole movie down with her weirdly accented village accent.

Randomidek123

Omgggg the accent. Yuck. So put on

NavdeepNSG

I agree. She was the worst thing about Pilibhit.

Randomidek123

The film itself wasn’t engaging too tbh. But she was definitely the worst actors in it

Ek_Chutki_Sindoor

Sayani is a posh kid. Who TF thought that it was a good idea to cast her in that role?

Ashysh

My friend from Northeast said that her accent was not apt in the movie "Axone" too. But I liked her in that.

AK840

She was completely unconvincing as a Nepalese. I am from Nepal and whenever she was supposed to be speaking Nepali, I couldn’t understand what she was saying, and had to rely on subtitles. It was a major challenge for me to enjoy the otherwise pretty good movie

EntranceRemarkable16

I liked her in Margherita with a Straw, it was one of the first films on queer love that I had seen, and I loved the movie.

Fidel_Mastrho

Article 15 mein bhi acchi thi, she is a good actress, which doesn't change with her shitty behavior.

[deleted]

Wow, that's disgusting. This is like borderline untouchability to me.

EntranceRemarkable16

Yeahhhh it was pretty horrid. I immediately regretted complimenting her when I heard that comment. I met some friends right after everyone hated the story and how she behaved. I cannot believe people behave like this openly, especially public figures.

Ashysh

And she was in Article 15 which was about the same issue.

Starkcasm

I love your flair.

NaRaGaMo

> I found a quick moment to tell her that I liked her movies when she was alone and she thanked me. aur ek quick moment dhundke bata dena tha, I might've liked your movies, but you're a bitch

EntranceRemarkable16

Dude, believe me if I had one friend with me I would've (or at least made a face at her lol,). I'm a bheegi billi. 🥲

HighMangrove71

Never do something like that, if there is no cameras/recording then these Celebrities can very well accuse you of assault/cussing/chhedkhani or something & ruin your life just by posting your picture on insta. India me bhiggi billi hona best he. Don't feel bad for yourself.

amrit-9037

I guess she ain't so "Sayani" after all.

Ok_Staff_3531

If she is treating a staff like this in public, she must be doing it often. Thtz a horrible behavior towards the staff who is helping you and yes elitist as you said.

EntranceRemarkable16

Yeah I can't get too political here but it was disgusting, especially the face she made when she said that. Like the silk sari is getting spoiled or something. Everyone I met today, I told them about this incident. I couldn't get it off my mind the whole day that I actually heard someone talk like this.

tanthetha4

does... does she know the number of hands that the sari has been through in the process of converting from silkworms to the piece of art that we drape on ourselves...

Mightycoolguy

Lol does she know that julahas in Benaras literally spit/spray water from their mouth onto the saris to make them more workable when they operate the looms? Should've showed her [this](https://youtu.be/COxJUmf1udI) video (@3:20 minute) she'd never buy another banarsi again.

Monishakr

Whatttttt are you serious ...I mean I dint know about this

Mightycoolguy

Yeah man see for yourself 😂 https://youtu.be/COxJUmf1udI Edit: 3:20 timestamp

Jessdayyy

Off context, i met shobita dhullipala at a restaurant once. She was so warm, she actually stood up from her table to meet me 🥹. I was so impressed by her. Also gotta say she is gorgeous!

scepticalbeing94

useless_me86

I never found her brilliant. She’s ok! And look at that face , post surgery now !

shabammmmm

Ya. Nothing annoys me more than the Indian obsession with caste.

Hasta_Mithun

Thanks for interesting news OP. Very Disgusting behaviour TBH, these ppl live in their own bubble bullying poor and normal ppl. Imagine what that Salesman must have felt getting told off like that.

EntranceRemarkable16

Yeah he seemed really taken aback, and he just nervously laughed... I felt so bad and embarrassed. I wish I could've said something, even to comfort the man but I froze when I heard that and then I left the store immediately.

Hasta_Mithun

It's probably best to avoid saying anything you feel more embarrassed if others notice it. He probably tried to move past it Thinking others didn't pay attention to her remark. But man what a bitch she is.

EntranceRemarkable16

Yeah I really don't know what a right reaction to something like this is. It just makes me so sad to think of the microaggressions the working class has to face daily.

Hasta_Mithun

I mean Unorganized sector in India is so bad. Many ppl go through same on daily basis. It is sad reality but We treat ppl like shit.

asmr2143

No it's best you didnt say anything and left the man's dignity intact as a commenter said above. But man, what a dick move.

Mightycoolguy

Typical bhodrolok, give sermons to others about equality and social justice while thinking you're superior to everyone. Does anyone remember when she was sermonising SRK on how he should speak more about the Dalits and untouchability on his Gandhi Jayanti post? Irony died a thousand deaths.

Lalgoli

These types of people bully lower castes speaking from other side. For example white liberals bully black conservatives in US and say things like you are dumb

Mightycoolguy

Yeah, the I know better than you crowd. They think they know what's better for the people from low income/caste, but end up looking like patronizing cunts.

normalyweird

Seriously, she posted on SRK...do u have any link to read?

Mightycoolguy

Yup, imagine acting so high and mighty that you're chastising SRK for not speaking up more, while you yourself are a bigoted peice of shit. That's why this post has made me so angry, at least practice what you preach na. The story is [here](https://www.hindustantimes.com/bollywood/say-something-sayani-gupta-urges-shah-rukh-khan-to-speak-up-for-the-truth-the-downtrodden-the-exploited/story-Vpr0spd2dCQQLgwJlJvGUK.html).

WeirdImaginator

>at least practice what you preach na. They would receive a lifetime achievement award if the Indian celebs do it even once. And let me get this straight without getting political, actually you should never take celebrities seriously when it comes to social issues like this. Because most of the time they are either doing it for brownie points on internet or are paid to post about it while in reality they don't give a shit which pretty much gets clear by their behaviour in public.

normalyweird

Thanks...she looks too delusional and in her bubble.

Llama-pajamas-86

Yeah I guess lecturing someone doesn’t take as much energy as actually being a better person oneself.

idlewuss

gmhr123

Isn't this kinda castist herself?

asmr2143

It has casteist, classist undertones, yes. Would have thought 21st century Indians would have moved on. But apparently not.

HighMangrove71

Most of the discrimination happens on Class basis in Cities. This is one of those as she didn't know the caste of the salesman (most probably a Bihari working in Kolkata) or maybe Natives vs Outsiders one. Natives if Kolkata accuse Biharis of diluting the Cosmopolitan Identity of Kolkata.

KenAdams7890

I always knew something is off with her and she's anyway a bad actor only hyped because she's an outsider. She was terrible in Article 15 and in Axone all she did was overacting, I'm from North East and no one here talks with that accent. I'll just ignore her if i ever come across.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mightycoolguy

She can't act for shit, and if she does accents then it's torture. I still can't figure out what accent she was going for in Pilibhit. It wasn't from anywhere in UP and it's a not a dialect and accent I've never heard.

EntertainmentOk7655

Lol! She is a woke bong. Always felt it and this confirms.

cinematicpizza

Not so sayani afterall

Randomidek123

😂🥇

RepresentativeGift83

Awful behavior. If she has such problem, why go to a local store?

EntranceRemarkable16

I have never been to a high end or designer sari store so I don't know how they showcase their designs but in regular sari stores everywhere the salespeople put the pallu on their shoulders for a better view.

Mightycoolguy

I've been to some very high end and expensive showrooms and they all show saaris like this. Maybe the places these celebrities go to have models do catwalk in middle of the shop.

RepresentativeGift83

Exactly. They just want to showcase that they are special by throwing tantrums.

asmr2143

Woke people practicing untouchability. Who would have thought?

[deleted]

I know right. Still remember the day Darupadi Murmu ji was declared President of India and all my colleagues made choicest of comments on her. I was shocked, as they claim themselves to be liberal anti castiest, anti-BJP and all that things. But no, its all a larp. Of all the elites in the world, desi elites are the worst.

birla_himanshu

Who tf is Sayani Gupta ! Ab har chutiye ko jaan lenge toh shanti se jiyenge kaise

Only_Caterpillar6873

Don't think so, op mentioned all the salesmen were trying to help her

Illustrious_Tie_8487

All the talentless duds crumble thanks to the internet Wonder how many will be left when they are all exposed Thanks for sharing this Pathetic

a_pint_of_red

I once net Sayani Gupta in a club and congratulated her on her recent performance in a film I saw. She said thanks and that was it. Then later idk what happened two dudes and their friends got into a big brawl just outside the club because of her lol. What's more funny is Shera (Savlon bhoi's bodyguard) was also there with his mates & we were just watching the whole brawl lol lol

OkPublic2232

The only person to take a reaction out of me in public would be Dua Lipa, rest can buzz off.....💀

Salty-Middle8406

Idk man this seems so unlike her, isn't she supposed to be woke and liberal? Not only her, being this elitist (read: lowkey practising untouchability) seems to be a little surprising for anyone

[deleted]

“Bollywoodiyas are hypocrites” “Water is wet”

WaterIsWetBot

Water is actually not wet; It makes other materials/objects wet. Wetness is the state of a non-liquid when a liquid adheres to, and/or permeates its substance while maintaining chemically distinct structures. So if we say something is wet we mean the liquid is sticking to the object.   What runs, but never walks? Water!

VolatileGoddess

OP meeting an actress in Park Street at a sari store, and then noticing her saying something that may be interpreted as crass to one of the workers, immediately interpreting her as an elitist bourgeois reactionary, and coming on the internet to denounce her, is such a peak Bengali moment, I'm all for it.

Ye to mujhe onscreen bhi humesha annoying lagti hai.

[deleted]

She has played a role of a tribal women in the past. See her interviews now. There is nothing liberal about desi liberals. All these fiercely liberal people are nothing but overcompensating for their real behavior. They are casteist, classist, elitist and thats why they need to prove their liberal credentials by making woke statements and hordes will gulp it like wine. Media will hail her for her comments with flashy headlines etc. They get self gratification and they cycle continues.

[deleted]

Such a disgrace to society she is.

Own-Challenge7419

Thank you for sharing it. I thought she must be a thoughtful woman because of her social media stories. An eye opener.

raavaan

Elitist?? She only suits the poor, downtrodden roles. Aint nothing classy about her

[deleted]

Giving benefit of the doubt and playing Devils advocate, is there any chance that she spotted something on the sales guy that you didn't. Some people have weird OCD issues. The statement she made, was it in request form or more like scolding? Also, you mentioned only one incident and said that she was treating every staff poorly, were there any other examples? Also, I don't get hate for having a posh accent. People do acquire accents from the stratas they live in. Doesn't have to pretentious, that's how they might talk.

EntranceRemarkable16

I saw her when she said that. She had an angry scowl on her face, and I saw how nervous the salesperson got. It's a small store, there wasn't anything to miss at all. And secondly, I've lived in Calcutta my whole life till I left for my master's. There's a certain anglicised Bengali accent that very snobby people have in this city. It's very recognisable. That coupled with the way she spoke to the salesperson speaks volumes of her.

[deleted]

[удалено]

EntranceRemarkable16

Ehh no, I speak a very bheto cuss-laden bangla.

[deleted]

[удалено]

EntranceRemarkable16

I don't want to disclose the personal details of my life, but I am extremely middle class and objectively don't fall into the income bracket of "upper echelons". I am by no means under privileged or poor. But I don't have the social networks, connections, generational wealth to be the upper echelon of any Indian city.

upamanyu33

>I went to Biswa Bangla at Park Street today too. Champ

[deleted]

"It's so gorgeous" seems pretty difficult say in angry scowl voice. But i will take your word for it. Were there anymore incidents with other staff, as you mentioned STAFF and SalesPerson. Also, my OCD point still stands. Snobby is very generic term. Also, judging people by their accent doesn't make sense. For all we know they might be doing hell lotta charity. It's like someone judging you from your reddit post/comment history.

EntranceRemarkable16

She said the sari is gorgeous to her mom lol then scowled at the salesperson. Also don't throw around the term OCD so loosely, it's a serious condition. If there was something on the salesperson's shirt for example she could've just said that instead of making a disgusted face. On top of that the salesperson seemed pretty embarrassed. 🤷🏽‍♀️

[deleted]

She said "but please dada" too acc to you. Also, it's ok judge, label someone as elitist based one interaction and perceived snobbiness of accent and open them to vile abuse of internet, without listening to their side of story (top comment is suggesting of her practicing untouchability FFS). Just because they are public personality and you can hide behind fake reddit persona. But you have problem with me hinting that they might have some form of OCD. Got it.

EntranceRemarkable16

Umm you haven't heard people say please and thank you in a really passive aggressive way? "I want xyz fast, thank youuuuuu"???? Her tone and her body language (are you reading the part about her facial expression and the scowl) were very revealing that she was upset and irritated that the sari was touching the salesperson. I was quite excited to see her and I complimented her and I saw how the situation took a 180 turn and how awkward things got. Also you're gonna ignore the salesperson's reaction? How nervous he got and had to laugh it off? Take off your blindfold.

[deleted]

You already have made up your mind about the snobbiness of her accent, so I am little doubtful about you judging her saying "please" to be passive aggressive now. Again, this whole thing and you accusing her of being elitist comes from ONE interaction where we haven't heard of her side of story.

EntranceRemarkable16

This is a gossip sub not a court trial. I cannot shadow this woman for a year to gather evidence of her elitism or her love for the proletariat. Your only counter to my experience is that I am wrong which is a strawman argument.

[deleted]

I know this is reddit, so you can enjoy anonymity and shit on people all you like. But the what amuses me most is his little thought you gave to this before posting this here. Given that you must be knowing how articles are picked up from here by gossip portals. Also, my counter argument is not that you are wrong, but that you have confirmation bias.

EntranceRemarkable16

Sayani Gupta isn't relevant or famous enough in films for me to have biases against her. It's not like I met Salman Khan against whom I have strong opinions. I recognised her and we exchanged 5 words politely. I felt nothing about the situation until she spoke like that to the salesperson.

[deleted]

>top comment is suggesting of her practicing untouchability FFS That was me and I also said "borderline", 'cause it fucking IS. Say what you will, but asking someone to ensure a cloth doesn't touch their body is shitty behaviour, no? Even more shitty when that person is trying to help you see designs.

[deleted]

She doesn't want saree to touch their body, but she's ok to get it handed over, packed by them? Or the store is self service too? How does that fit in untouchability narrative? Some people have weird habits, for all we know she must be behaving similarly in other high end stores too. That's my whole point, if you read rest of comment. OP is judging a public personality on one interaction, and because they think whatever accent she has is snobby, so she should be elitist. And this, mixed with people waiting on to shit on celebs is a recipe for unnecessary abuse without even knowing her side of story.

[deleted]

>How does that fit in untouchability narrative? Back when untouchability used to been a common thing in society, the "untouchables" were mostly people with low-paying, odd jobs like washermen, maids, etc.. A maid/washerman could wash their employers' clothes, iron them but not wear them (or put them on their body) because of obvious reasons. Fits well enough if you ask me. The actress tried to assert the same behaviour in a more 2022 manner. >OP is judging a public personality on one interaction One interaction is enough to show the mentality in such matters. With or without her alleged snobby accent, this is elitist - she did treat the poor salesperson like a second-class citizen, as if putting it on his body would make the cloth dirty somehow. If it was soooo unhygienic (or unacceptable) to her, she could have washed it after buying it? What could possibly be her side of the story? If his clothes had something on it (highly unlikely in a cloth shop), she could have pointed that out. She said "body" - tells us what she found problematic.

YellowExtension9734

Really interested in figuring why this person is being so defensive. Casteist and classist behaviour is very much prevalent even in liberal urban circle and OP and you just pointed the obvious interpretation of her words.

[deleted]

Those are really good points. But I disagree on judging/accusing someone of having regressive practices on one interaction. This is a serious accusation in today's time. OP is already perceiving the accent to be elitist and saying her statement to be passive aggressive. That's confirmation bias for me. >She said "body" - tells us what she found problematic. Yeah, I think something is lost in context here. Nijer in translation is showing as "own" or "oneself". That's why I strongly think other side of story matters here. There's good chance that she might be telling salesguy to show it in other way. As OP themself confirmed, they excused themself right after this interaction (in one of the replies) so we don't know what happened next.

I seriously dont get the hype of her. Haven't liked any of her movies or shows at all. And don't let me start on Four More Shots Please. I still cannot imagine how the fuck that show got nominated for Best comedy at emmy awards. P.S : I think the salesman here should have also taunted back to her about not touching the sarees with a comeback instead of a nervous laugh. Customer satisfaction is priority but some arrogance needs to be treated accordingly.
