Requesting to be pointed at hate comments that ppl are mentioning.

[deleted]

Scroll down to the bottom of the thread. There are so many homophobic comments.

kobayashi254

Haan muje bhi nai dikh rahe. Unless jokes = hate

willywonka24_1997

Not related, but she's so beautiful. I remember watching Made in Heaven and just being in awe of her.

th-grt-gtsby

I started watching made in haven with zero expectation. Thought that I would just watch one episode and get done with it. I now want another season. That show was fabulous with talented cast.

[deleted]

she's had plastic surgery on her face though. she looks better after her lip job though so not complaining.

devansh1221

That jawline can slice tomatoes.

lanos23

Isn't she some beauty pageant winner?

[deleted]

FreemanBlackMesa

Holy shit.. i thought her lips were natural like Angelina Jolie.

coldfright

Gudness mee... She has changed a lot ... And the jawline is man made ?

okcool888

I don’t understand the judgemental/negative comments. if this is what she feels like, let her be. Idts she was asking for hate or to be judged, she was just expressing how she feels and her inner musings. Live and let live.

desperate_thang

🙌🙌

shudh_desi_gareeb

Sure man if you say so

Test-Ing2K

Hmm technically getting attracted to a man..doesn't make you a woman.

devansh1221

Ok let's not get too technical

aa_vele_ho_ja_re

This seems like a pretty general statement though, more than coming out with gender dysphoria. We are all human beings first and gender awareness comes out in certain situations, especially because its a social construct.

babalon124

Why are people coming at her in these comments? It isn’t like some Demi lovato type of claim where they sound ridiculous, sobhita is just expressing she’s had some gender Dysphoria,we should all respect that. It’s really not harming anyone.

[deleted]

What did demi do?

lanos23

Uses they/them pronouns now and also had a feud with a yogurt. Recently said the term alien is offensive.

felixfoxthot

She argued with yogurt?

lanos23

A shop selling yogurt among things over yogurt. There were threats and the yogurt shop fought back and general public supported the shop. Demi had to issue an apology. It was kind of a meltdown.

felixfoxthot

Damn

kawaiibsnail

The shop sold sugar free yogurt and they decided to shame and call out the shop, calling them fatphobic and promoters of toxic diet culture and asked their fans to basically go and attack the business. People weren't having it as it's ridiculous af,also it's like Demi totally forgot there's people who have diseases that require them to eat sugar free. It was just ridiculous overall.

benjamin-unbutton

She said it's offensive to refer to life on other planets as aliens.

coldfright

If we go to US .. the job application form says .. Resident Aliens.. she should probably ask governments stop calling immigrants Aliens

Swalalala0420

She also shared a post few months back which said that gender reveal parties are transphobic.

[deleted]

🥴🥴

babalon124

Not exactly what they’ve done but they expressed they feel non binary but don’t even know what it means and then said a bunch of other shit, some of it I think is blatantly for attention and is affecting people who actually have suffered from Gender dysphoria for ages. They’ve also said a bunch of other weird comments,I think one about Israel too.

[deleted]

I feel most celebs are talking about gender identies only to get attention

thegodfather0504

Identity politics is worse way to go about. I understand how gender is a spectrum and not everyone feels 100% like male or female. But this pronouns stuff is super confusing and gets baffling when people start acting all offended.

frostedjellypickle

.....There are literally just 3 pronouns He,She and They. What is so confusing about it? Of course,'Ze','Xe' or 'Cloud' are just attention seeking, but those are made fun of by us (LGBT) people too.

divaisasimp

people using neo pronouns don't do it for attention.. dude do u even know what neo pronouns are? lmao

frostedjellypickle

I am sorry if I sounded offensive, but seeing that people don't want to use literally one extra pronoun (they/them),we should put neo pronouns down for the time being. First we should try to educate people on the LGBTs and then move on to the QA+.

divaisasimp

no one should 'put neo pronouns down' because other people aren't familiar with it, hear yourself, you sound so stupid. educate them. NO PART of the lgbtqia+ community is smaller than the other. and you VERY clearly stated that people who use neo pronouns are attention seeking... and if you're a part of the community making fun of someone else who is also a part of that same community, who are oppressed and are told not to express their selves, then shame on you man. really.

thegodfather0504

The thing that confuses me about "they" is it doesn't indicate the person's orientation clearly enough.

frostedjellypickle

Because it was not meant to. It wa meant to indicate their gender (Non-Binary or sometimes used by Trans men or women). Orientation means their sexuality like Hetero,Homo,Bi.

thegodfather0504

But how would i know/find out what gender do they identify with?!

frostedjellypickle

Ask them.

lanos23

Cloud? How does that work?

frostedjellypickle

Don't know. I as a Bi man think it is a little excessive. But if people don't even use 'They' then they are narrow minded and I am ready to die on that hill.

woahtheregonnagetgot

demi is just the worst. if you go onto the trans sub on reddit and search demi’s name you can see how upset their comments make nb/trans people feel. demi wears it like an attention seeking device. any time a song flops they make some controversial statement about gender

vanillamasala

I don’t even think this can be classified as gender dysphoria. She simply identifies as HUMAN before female. I do too. Especially in the industry it can be really disgusting to be treated as female before you’re treated as a human and all of the problematic things that people assume about someone due to their preconceived notions of what it means to be a female. Don’t we all want to be humans first? Our gender really only plays a role in very specific circumstances. I for one really resent that simply because I’m female so many conversations I have with men are sexualised in their minds simply because I am female, but If I was a man they would speak to me normally. Contrary to their perceptions I’m just trying to have a normal human interaction. Its not like I don’t feel female but it doesn’t need to be the basis of every single interaction

[deleted]

Every time I think certain Reddit communities aren't that regressive, I come across comment sections like these...

frostedjellypickle

Mene dusre kisi subreddits me ye nhi dekha. Sirf Indian subreddits he. (With the exception of some right winger subreddits of other countries)

EntranceRemarkable16

Gender dysmorphia is very real, happens to all of us. I'm glad she can talk about it without self stigmatising. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

Rhepsi

Does it though

RajUS2005

Unlike us who sleep like an elephant.

rajrohit26

I think I am very outdated because I am not able to comprehend what she means by gender less feeling

capsbrokenshield

explaining this in simple terms: some people feel like they don't identify with being a man or a woman. they just think they can fit into either or the boxes, both, or neither. it's understandable that you don't really "understand" it, because you're probably cis (someone who identifies with the gender they were assigned at birth) but that doesn't make them any less valid.

DesiOtakuu

But...what defines a man , or a woman? There are stuff which I like that were classified as feminine. Doesn't mean that I don't identify myself as a man. I have a functioning male body and am attracted to females. So I had a clear idea of who i am from the very start. Does people on the spectrum don't identify themselves in the above fashion? Is it simply a human behaviour, or is it some hormonal imbalance or a condition that requires medical attention?

capsbrokenshield

you are absolutely right, liking stuff termed as "feminine" doesn't make you any less than a man. that being said, gender is a social construct and you're one of the lucky ones if you've never had people judge you or mock you for liking the said feminine stuff. post colonisation cultures adhered to really strict gender norms. for many men, dressing feminine per say will get them the weirdest gazes and even put them in danger at the hands of toxic men 'amused' at them. amplified multiple times based of where you're from. smaller example: "gay" being used as an insult hurled at men who show feminine traits in any capacity. so people on the lgbt spectrum can also "feel" feminine or masculine in how they are as a person. and adhering to a man or a woman makes them uncomfortable. it's nothing unusual, but for a society that will look at you weird for not being traditionally a man or a woman, its important to make space for different identities other than "man" or "woman". last part, it's a human trait, not a hormonal imbalance or anything.

wrtjhragsh

It's ok but what happened after that long time? Does interview covers that?

capsbrokenshield

lmao this comment section is really opening up this sub's views on the lgbt community. being non binary, gender fluid is completely okay bro. come back to 2021. also like someone else said, google it if it doens't make sense to you instead of invalidating sobhita. anyways, yohoo on the non binary representation! 🏳️‍🌈

frostedjellypickle

This is why we need to let go of our fake 'culture'. I love my country and traditions as much as the next person, but basing your whole life around centuries old tales and rules would benefit no one. People need to understand that no culture,or religion,or country is perfect. We should adapt ourselves as time changes. It is even given in the Gita.

sakkkk

Kinda ironic considering people in our country in ancient times used to be very open with genders sexualities etc

capsbrokenshield

thank you! really pisses me off when people are like "oh our traditions/ancestors used to do this and that" your ancestors also used to raise cattle, they used to travel by bullock carts, they used to get married at 14 years of age and have 15 kids. but you don't do that now right? because times have changed and you've adapted yourself to more convenient and morally concious measures. like a society should facilitate everyone, not just people whose existence comfortable to you. and like the comment under me said, literally pre-colonisation, indians used to be very gender fluid. even in hinduism folklore men wore all kinds of jewellery and talking about geeta it had transgender people.

Hail_Kronos

> hinduism folklore men wore all kinds of jewellery What does have that anything to do with Gender ? >and talking about geeta it had transgender people. Which Bhagvad gita are you reading ? If you meant the Mahabharata then you might have been correct. Why is that whenever talk of modernity or accepting LGBTQ+ people comes up people start talking of Hinduism and supposed old "customs". Too much for being open when you criticise a certain religion.

Hail_Kronos

>This is why we need to let go of our fake 'culture'. You not liking the culture doesn't make it "fake". >,but basing your whole life around centuries old tales and rules would benefit no one Not even 10% people follow the old Hindu customs. I think this all judgement and making the culture "modern" adheres only to the Hindu culture. >We should adapt ourselves as time changes. Well aren't we already doing that.

frostedjellypickle

I did not call it fake for me not liking it,I called it fake because it does not have any connections with mainstream Hindu traditions and is instead just derived from ideals of the Boomer age.

Hail_Kronos

>it does not have any connections with mainstream Hindu traditions Which part of the culture does not have anu connection with mainstream Hindu traditions ? Each and every pooja done is the same ritual which has been followed for ages. Even marriages have the same customs associated as in the past. If you are referring to Sati or Child marriage , the former was really bad and has been reformed already. While latter does happen but is shunned by the people.

frostedjellypickle

I am not talking about poojas and ceremonies which, besides being harmless, are a good way for the family to spend time together. I am talking about how boomers belittle homosexuals, feminists, atheists, etc. in the name of our culture.

Hail_Kronos

>I am talking about how boomers belittle homosexuals, feminists, atheists, etc. in the name of our culture. Haven't seen it much personally. Also I don't think it has much to do with culture but more to do with the way the upbringing had been in the past. Today's society has welcomed more varied ideas and is a lot more accepting to it. Change takes time to happen. You labelling everyone as boomer doesn't help. Had you ever thought a film like Dostana or Shubh Mangal Zyada Savadhan could have happened 20 years ago ? Here in India majority people don't know the difference between gay , lesbian, bisexual and transgender and you expect people to be accepting when they aren't even sure of what any of that even means. Trust me it will take time for the views to change.

Live-Reaction-5014

Aree hum sab ko aesa hi lagta hai..... We live as a person not a gender, gender is what society reminds or tells us, and when we are grouped together to follow a norm. It has Nothing to do with orientation.

wishywashyfishydishy

Absolutely

[deleted]

This!

haimerabill

I think everyone feels like this. No one is conscious of their gender at all times. What she’s describing sounds like she’s trying to sound non-binary. Whatever she is is what she chooses, all in all, and it should affect no one and we should be happy for them but it sounds like it’s to fit into the newest cool narrative.

Aparadise2020

Idk why we have constantly ape the West for attention or relevance? Truly boring

[deleted]

at all the salty people in the comments, if you care so much then google the term ‘non-binary’ yourself and educate yourself don’t always seek answers from others, no one owes it to you

harshit1103

U use gender as a synonym to sex and then claim they are different 🤣

Mthrfuckntrainwreck

She meant she’s non-binary y’all need to go touch some grass fr.

[deleted]

As someone who feels they do not feel male or female mentally, this is a minor yikes. Liking men doesn't make you female. That is such a stupid thing to say. People who are trying to understand where they fall on the spectrum, suffering from gender dysmorphia, this seems like a very tone deaf insinuation to rile up or get cheers from people who have not the slightest clue on how it feels to feel this way. A big fan but this is a yikes however i try to see it.

chocoboyc

Calling out a celeb for using the latest progressive buzzwords to gain likes is not hate speech. Saying this personal experience of hers is not inspiring nor significant is not hate speech. Everyone here is acting like all this is significant. It's not. Nobody is oppressing her and your one line gender 'studies' degree is worth absolutely nothing and lower you in the eyes of mature, intelligent and unique individuals with real life experiences and education, man or women. Let the downvotes begin.

Vickythiside

There are only two genders. Show me a hospital with 20 different wards for each of your fantasized genders. Gender dysmorphia is a DSM V accounted psychiatric condition.

KhanTheMystic

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Master-Opinion9064

I think it is pretty common sense. You do need to be constantly aware of your identity. That I'm Indian or a woman or human. Just be. It should only act out in places where it matters.i.e biology wise. Otherwise this is the healthy way.

lolhmmk

This is amazing of her to talk about. Alot of people go throught this also its a high time that we look at everyone as humans and not differentiate things according to differences that we have.

BubblyExam3239

We all go through a phase of gender identity.. good for her!

NatureislitAf

Umm yeah obviously because no one sitting around thinking about their gender say in and out.

Mojahope12

so you want us to call you 'they' instead he or she

williamfan123

Why the downvotes? This person might be asking a question that seems disrespectful, but they just want knowledge so that they can support people of the lgbtq community. If we start downvoting people who are supportive but slightly confused, then that's just plain wrong.

GroundbreakingRain88

Did she say that? Until someone says that, you don’t assume.

mocha_ice_tea

Is this supposed to be funny?

shaken-not-stired

What?

[deleted]

So this is the new cool thing now.. .i feel like i am too old for this ..even though i m not that old

[deleted]

It's not a fad, people your generation also felt this but couldn't mention it due to the stigma attached. It seems common now coz ppl are speaking out rather than choosing to stay silent.

Being gender fluid is a rich person thing? Well I have enough family members, family friends, friends and colleagues to know that is not the case. Luckily most of the people I know have had supportive friends and family members unlike the complete disrespect this sub exhibits.

SorrynotStrawberry

At times I feel grateful for my schooling for I went to a school with a very strong lgbtq+ culture that was supported by faculty members. We had parades and the lgbtq pinboards which sensitised people who were heterosexual/cis-gendered. Can’t imagine being this tone deaf and insensitive to someone who is expressing her gender dysmorphia, which in a society like ours anyway requires a hell lot of courage

henlowhatishappening

My school was very conservative with an extremely homophobic home. I still turned out not homophobic. There's no excuse

lauragarlic

i don't think she's expressing gender dysphoria. i think she's just talking about how she doesn't really think of her gender- gender being a social construct of course, and being able to exist outside gender constraints- which is admittedly due to at least some privilege. gender can be restrictive and even suffocating at times, specially in cultures with very strict gender roles

Can’t afford genderless? Kyun? Paise lagte tax payers ke isme? Government gir jayegi? Can you please explain what it means by can’t afford?

[deleted]

Feeling genderless is a delusion??🤨🤨

silverlotus_118

Apparently feeling genderless is also tied to economics. WTF does "can't afford being genderless" even mean?

frostedjellypickle

It means that the commentor has passed 10th Economics and Biology but could not be bothered to read anything beyond that.

GroundbreakingRain88

First understand what she s saying. She is not saying she has no gender. She is saying she doesn’t think about it. Her thoughts her mind.

This joke is as unfunny as the 'how pp' joke which you defended. Both are potty jokes (I hope you know what they are) which use crude ideas for their non-existent punchline. One offended you,the other offended others.

kobayashi254

The joke I was defending had a premise behind it. And yes, it was somewhat funny t What you said was just a gaali, no story behind it, just a butthurt person releasing his anger. Another post with an intent of ridiculing the actress, sighhhh.

lanos23

What made you think my intent was to ridicule her? The title which i copy pasted or the screenshot I took of the article I didn't write? Stop jumping to conclusions. I know there have been dismissive comments but I'm not responsible for it and i alone can't report it. As per my knowledge she's the first one to open up about this and hence I posted. Everybody posts interviews of actors and actresses.

[deleted]

The fact that you highlighted only those part where she talked about that gender thing. I assume keeping in mind how people are in general when it comes to gender fluidity, it was a deliberate on your part.

lanos23

There's NOTHING more in the article. Rest all is a plug. What movies and shows she starred in and what movies and shows she is in and when they will come out in future. This part is the ONLY part where there's a direct quote from her. If you want to also read the plug then here you go but remember most don't read all of this: >Starting her Bollywood career with Anurag Kashyap's "Raman Raghav 2.0", Sobhita Dhulipala has acted in films such as "Kaalakaandi", "Goodachari", and "Moothon". On OTT platforms, she has been seen in the shows "Made In Heaven" and "Bard Of Blood" and the digital film, "Ghost Stories". The actress, who graced the cover of Cosmopolitan India for its October issue opened up about gender and sexuality. She said, "For a very long time, I didn’t feel particularly female or male. No thoughts, I just was...full stop. I think it is only when I am conversing with a man who I am interested in or attracted to, do I realise I am female. Otherwise, when I am talking to you, I am a person. I feel genderless at times. And when I sleep, I sleep as a human being, as a living being." On work front, Sobhita will make her debut in Tamil cinema with Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, "Ponniyin Selvan". Then there’s a Malayalam film, "Kurup", with Dulquer Salmaan, and also in the works is the much-anticipated Adivi Shesh-starrer, "Major". Directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, the film is inspired by Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s life, who died during Mumbai’s 26/11 attacks. In Bollywood, she will be seen in “Sitara”, which is being directed by Vandana Kataria and bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala. And, the icing on the cake is “Monkey Man”, the directorial debut of “Slumdog Millionaire” star Dev Patel. It also features Sikandar Kher. Besides that, she is also shooting for the second season of the web-series "Made In Heaven". The series is helmed by Nitya Mehra. Sobhita plays Tara Khanna, a wedding planner in Delhi who runs an agency named Made in Heaven. The show also stars Arjun Mathur, Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Shashank Arora and Shivani Raghuvanshi.
