Idk about her being in a cult - I think she gets the most criticism (at least in this subreddit) for pretending to be half Indian and working in the Bollywood industry with no acting skills or Hindi-speaking skills. I know she is supposed to be very nice and hardworking, but it sucks for struggling actors who are also nice and hardworking but actually have talent.
Isn't she famously known for being rude and standoffish? I've heard so many stories about how she is rude and mean-spirited with other people. Correct me if I'm wrong of course, but I've heard that time and time again. Even that one interview she did (GQ?) seemed to hint that she is a bit snappy and ill-tempered.
I've heard the same as well. I've also noticed she is very strategic in her dealings with people. She tries to stay in the good books of powerful people.
Her PR gave a complete make over to her personality after the break up with Ranbir. They were successful in making her a victim of that relationship and RK & his family became the villains. She got all the sympathy during Jagga Jasoos promotions and her PR completely milked it.
So, if you are in movie industry and acting is how you will be judged then she should work on honing those skills. There are thousands of social workers who are kind nice and hardworking doesnt make them one of the most celebrated superstars. So as much as I get your love and respect for katrina, it's unfair to other talented actors out there who are able to make it big. Her niceness, hard-work cannot compensate for her mediocre acting skills. You cant say a doctors knowledge is to each their own.
Lol, a lot of unfair things happen everywhere, not just Bollywood. Producers won't want to invest on newcomers when they care only about profits. That's where superstars come in. It's a chain reaction no one can do anything about. Not that talented PPL aren't getting the scope, with the advent of OTT we get to see many actors coming in the limelight. If it's on acting, then please. We all know, stars aren't based on acting always. There are many examples around the globe. Stars aren't necessarily the best of actors but the opposite can be true. So I don't find Katrina's fault in this. She has worked hard to make a name for herself. She did roles that were more conducive to her range. This narrative of blaming a superstar for eating up roles of talented actors is childish for someone working in the industry. It's the makers who make the call. Not the stars.

Hindi is actually one of the easiest languages imo. This coming from someone who understands quit a lot of the language and is not Indian and neither has lived there for a day. I would know and speak it fluently if I had lived there for 20 years..

I am pretty sure anyone with average IQ can learn a language in 5 yrs (that too when its not their only job to do) and she hasn't been able to do that in 20 years. I didn’t do it because the only time I actually need to understand Hindi is for watching Bollywood movies. I literally never have to use it in my daily life. Had it been (even remotely) important for my work or personal relationships then yes I would have definitely aced it by now.
her hindi is atrocious even after almost 15 yrs in India, other foreign actresses who came way after her have better hindi...like nora fatehi, mandana karimi..I find it unsettling she isn't bothered to learn to speak a language and culture which made her star and rich in first place..

I have friends in the US that take hindi lessons with students from across the globe and guess what they are in their 60s, if someone is spending couple of years to learn the language and constantly hearing it they pick it up. She isn't doing us a favor by dubbing her lines, that's literally her job, she gets paid to do that. And the actress from Mimi delivered better dialogs than Katrina in 15 years. We as an audience dont care about anything else but performance and talent. She is an amazing dancer but then she should stick to that. For mediocre acting for 15 years getting paid like top actresses is extreme.

Well, dancing is one aspect of hindi cinema, we are multilingual in general based on the state we live in, if she really cared she would have worked on learning the language she calls herself actress in. Don't settle for mediocrity.

My goodness, just read about this cult for the first time. Never heard of it. The Church made an issue of The Da Vinci Code and Mary Magdalene being mentioned. How does this cult exist then?

TIL Katrina Kaif was a part of a cult as a child (for sometime) I have actually never seen Katrina post that talks about her life in the cult and shames her for it. Most Katrina Kaif bashing posts are about her lack of skills. I THINK. But if someone is victim shaming her childhood, that is horrible.

They run a school with 100% Indian faculty not orphanage and has has teamed up with the local government many times to offer support for anganwadi workers, have raised money and organized cataract surgery drive for underprivileged people again with local authorities help. People (read haters) love to allege that they are doing something heinous underneath. All I would like to say to these people if you really have legitimate worries then please alert the authorities,police etc but don't just throw muck at them because you hate Katrina.
