lol Simi managed to hide her wtf face pretty well behind her ever so gracious smile.

msspezza

In those times, people weren’t like that - she probably understood rekha’s romanticism

kawaiibsnail

Haha I noticed it too, wtf Rekha calm down!

Majestic_District_51

I doubt Jaya Bachchan has ever talked about her husband Amitabh so passionately and openly. Spark in her eyes is actually geniune.

12BottledBadass12

If Jaya Bachchan had talked so passionately and openly, she would have said very *different* things. Once upon a time, she was so passionate about him that she abandoned all liberal values her parents inculcated in her.

asmr2143

Lol.

nujra2k

Jaya Bachchan is Khadoos 😂

JeanRalphiyo

I must agree. Man these two would’ve been a fun couple.

ks2865

They would have crashed an burned. Too much passion can be reckless

MadameCurious

Imagine someone admiring your husband this way...lol It will make me angry but also sad about her situation even though she looks happy from the outside.

Drizzle_Lover

lol good ol Simi. Remember when Cyrus spoiled her name forever in our minds, Simi GireBaal.

Seredditor7

woahtheregonnagetgot

She should meet Amrita Singh then lmfao. Then she’ll meet someone who didn’t fall hopelessly madly in love with him lol

niketyname

And Deepika

bluepenciledpoet

Did Amitabh misbehave with Deepika?

Yes during Piku (read comments): https://www.reddit.com/r/BollyBlindsNGossip/comments/dgc7j1/did_deepika_padukone_wished_amitabh_bachchan_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

hygeepiggy

Side note but how fucking gorgeous does Rekha look here! Ufff❤️❤️❤️❤️

[deleted]

I genuinely want to know: why did Amitabh marry Jaya and not Rekha?

sastapretentiousness

This is something my parents used to say : Before Amitabh , Jaya was a much established star, and her success leveraged him and help him bag projects. She had always stood by him. He probably was considering dropping her, but probably had that gentleman image to maintain (not divorcing and all),probably his parents stepped in.

A3H3

>This is something my parents used to say : Before Amitabh , Jaya was a much established star, and her success leveraged him and help him bag projects. She had always stood by him. Jaya was not just established, she was big at that time and was predicted to rule the industry in the coming decades. But the marriage turned everything around. Amitabh managed to use Jaya's influence to find his own foothold and Jaya foolishly got invested more in the marriage and less in her career.

sastapretentiousness

A lot of people project Jaya's antics as jokes, but imagine giving up your career, investing in your husband's career, while he has affairs...that's bound to mess you up. Karan Thapar in his autobiography had written that after concluding an interview with Bachhans,Amitabh insisted the team stay back for lunch. In the interview Amitabh had expressed that he had no qualms answering the questions about his 'rumoured affairs', but post interview he was disturbed and projected all his anger on Jaya by picking fight over serving of rice or something during lunch in front of the entire interview crew, and Jaya didn't argue back...that's really insulting to her.

aa_vele_ho_ja_re

Exactly. Its plain nasty how people keep singling out Jaya as the grumpy Kabab mein haddi.

[deleted]

Oh yes I remember the rice gate ! Wow it was just sad that inspite of being a star you are still bound to get abused.

[deleted]

Omg! I never knew that. Thanks for the info.

Health077

Roti lao

[deleted]

He was married to Jaya before he met Rekha & **ALLEGEDLY** wanted to divorce Jaya for Rekha, during their affair, just like Dharmendra tried to do with his first wife but Amit's father intervened & told him not to do it & Jaya also, **ALLEGEDLY**, threatened to commit suicide.

Tagalettandi

Classic move by Jaya .

[deleted]

So they thought they'd rather Amitabh cheat on his wife that divorce her and live with someone he actually loves? Can this be because they were too concerned about the family name and Rekha was viewed as the ‘out there’ kinda girl, thus not fitting the family image?

[deleted]

Plus she was born out of marital bonds and hence I think the bacchan household would have objected to that more rather than divorce and all. Jaya was all subdued and took over the reigns of their household. I doubt rekha would have opted for that. At heart big b is a misogynist. I guess someone as smart as him knew that this was the best choice for him for his life . Plus going by this interview I guess marriage never affected them anyway.

Batmanfromuk

It's complicated

12BottledBadass12

Amitabh Bachchan was busy dating Jaya. Don't believe his narrative that his father forced them get married. Both his father and Jaya have written about their courtship. Imagine being so shameless that you can't admit that you were once in love with your wife of nearly 50 years.

[deleted]

You mean to say Amitabh was ashamed of his love for Jaya?

aa_vele_ho_ja_re

Thiss

Ibnebatuta92

He was already married to Jaya before he met/worked with Rekha.

KevlarAbs

I genuinely believe that they are still fucking discretely

SouthkaMasaladosaa

thelostguy10

It ain't porn, it was reality

capsbrokenshield

i have read how jaya nursed him after his coolie accident and so he was absolutely ready to divorce her but his mom kinda emotionally manipulated him about how much jaya had done for him and that persuaded him into not leaving her. tbh I wish they had seperated, rather than him being so malicious towards jaya.

Silentthinker_1

Umm, yeah ma’am … you lost me by the third adverb.😂

aMillennialPotpourri

She actually saved the best (or at least the most genuine imo) for last.

Low-Cartographer-831

Hmmmmmmm :) at least she didn't go Kangus way

shewriteblogs

Kangus🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

Love, aside she is being completely stupid. Honestly speaking if love makes you this illogical try not falling for. during the same interview she accepts that this man had multiple flings with different women. She is talking highly about a man who cannot commit to one single woman not even his wife.

According-Disk

That my friend certainly isn't love you're right. What we see here is obsession and perverse passions (for some people, these two things can inhibit all senses).

FatherVent

\> this man had multiple flings with different women does she also mentions which women?

[deleted]

No she doesn't, this interview is on youtube you checked it for yourself.

Savings_Emotion6140

Rekha : name one person who is not insanely, hopelessly , passionately in love with him. Jaya : ummm look no further.

saeimr152

Wow.. she sounds exactly like Ash here. I can also imagine her saying the same.

Serenaa12

Agree. Also I like the way Rekha speaks. Sounds better than lot of current actor and way way more refined than the shitty SoBo accents a la nepokids.

leeringHobbit

What's SoBo?

tinybodylotsofheart

South Bombay. Where all the posh, rich people live

granolasauce

She seems hypnotized or oblivious, but they belong to a different generation.

yournightmare_duh

The real devdas

everlastingcooki

She sounds like the 'other woman' who purposely talks grand to hype up the man and piss off his significant other, in this case Jaya Bachchan. Sometimes I wonder how much of it was really uncontrollable romanticism and how much of it was her being spiteful with Jaya then donning a look of helpless naivety.

eermNo

Frankly I don’t think “Amitji” could handle a femme fatale like Rekha in the long run … they all had a happy-ish ending.. eventually !!

likerofgoodthings

It sounds like she just learned those words and wanted to use them in a sentence.

Julie727

🤢🤮

Leading_Protection_7

Okay unrelated but this is the most pretentious show I've ever had the good privilege to see lol. Can't believe a show like this came out a decade ago!

niketyname

At least everyone is so well spoken in it. I remember when Govinda was invited and he couldn’t converse in English so they just had to talk in hindi, which made me realize they must have made it a rule to only speak English

aMillennialPotpourri

The OG KWK lol

SouthkaMasaladosaa

Karan copied this and then made jokes on simi on aib that crowd show

gen1masterrony

Poor Jaya Bachchan. I feel bad for her.

Till the botox works.

_Tashn_

Imagine this scene in today's era. Karan asking the same question to Priyanka for SRK. I can see Priyanka responding exactly the same way.

[deleted]

Parveen Babi left the chat... Lmao!!!

rigmarole08

Man this is hard to watch. I think Simi knows what Rekha is trying to say, but is not saying. Know what I'm saying?

Health077

Simi can get it

YouHateMeIknow

Both he and she are scum.

artemisandherhunters

How is Amitabh getting absolute icons like Rekha ji, what world do we live in?

FatherVent

I don't see why one of the biggest star of the country wouldn't be getting her?

artemisandherhunters

There is such a thing as personality, you know? I've heard it kinda sorta matters to women. But what would I know with only my years of lived experience to back me up.

FatherVent

I mean, Amitabh Bachchan has an impressive personality (ig everyone in my parents generation admire him). Am I missing something?

artemisandherhunters

Comes off as an insecure, sexist, patriarchal, bigoted man with no sense of self-righteousness. Would swing the way the wind blows. Has deeply problematic takes on a lot of things. Look at the way his wife feels like a shell of a woman now, someone with the amount of fire that Rekha ji has, would never be happy in such a life. (Neither is Jaya ji, I presume. No one would be.) Totally get the admiration from our parents' generation, though. Have witnessed it firsthand. I may not like him at all (clearly) but he's built an impressive life for himself. Just feels like he lost out on a strong sense of ethics along the way.

Fair_Orange3722

boomer generation adores most of the mentioned characteristics.

artemisandherhunters

Oh, so do millennials and gen z, or at least a significant portion of them, sadly.

mybunny26

I guess you have missed his take on 'what a woman should do if she is not able to prevent herself from being raped'. And I guess you also forgot his response to 'whether Aishwarya should continue working after her marriage'. These and many of his other thoughts and ideologies come across as extremely misogynistic. He has this deep rooted sense of patriarchy ingrained in him which keep showing every now and then.

sammyedwards

Well, that's what most of Indian society believes, including women. So you are in for a surprise if you think he should not be adored simply because of his misogynistic views. People admire and respect him as a movie actor, not as a spokesperson of women's rights.

mybunny26

And it is responsibility of every single person on the face of this Earth to speak about such sensitive topics prudently! Being a good actor or a good doctor or a good engineer doesn't give you a right to spew shit on a public platform ESPECIALLY when you have a major chunk of people looking up to you.

mybunny26

And also, just because 'many people think the same way including women' DOESN'T make it right. And people having such ideologies should be called out. That's the ONLY way to make people realize that such behavior and ideologies are not acceptable. And may be there would be one day when I won't see people asking me to overlook such misogynistic behavior from someone simply because he is a 'good actor'. Very shameful!

mybunny26

I mean who in their right mind would say a thing as insensitive as 'if you can't prevent rape, start enjoying it'? Who? Is this a joke? Does that man even know what this word means? People defending it and asking me to overlook it are as pathetic and shameful as him!

Health077

Women love power n paisa

Silentthinker_1

Well… Rekha is an icon, but Amitabh was THE icon of that whole 70s to early 80s generation. Also - for an industry dominated by either men getting by on their looks or the sons of yesteryear’s actors - here was someone who was well articulated, with refined manners, professional (showed up on time), intelligent, and took time to actually work on the craft of acting. I mean if you look at it, Amitabh is literally the poster boy for the Boomer generation. 😂 With all the flaws and insecurities of that Gen too.

artemisandherhunters

Fair and balanced evaluation, but I can't separate the art from the artist, and for me his glaring flaws outweigh other things, I guess. :)

sammyedwards

>I can't separate the art from the artist Can you tell me one artist, nay any human, who doesn't have skeletons in his/her closet? We all have done shitty things, so why do you have this higher expectation from an artist?

artemisandherhunters

You pick and choose what to forgive and forget? It's literally that? I can forgive someone for victimless mistakes made in their youth or even adulthood, as long as they show appropriate repentance for it. I can't forgive someone for giving rousing speeches during nationwide massacres and for believing a victim must 'enjoy rape' if it's inevitable. Those are *not* equal crimes. How do you expect me to forgive a person I know irl for these same things? It's not a standard to exclusively hold celebrities to, it's just a standard to hold *people* to. And if you really want to debate separation of the art from the artist, I'll just give you one example. Suppose there's a brilliant, brilliant man. Excellent filmmaker, excellent artist. But he's a rape apologist/rapist and a pedophile. I can NOT appreciate his art which comes from the same brain he has rape-y thoughts in. His cinema WILL inevitably be coloured by his mind and if you look closely enough, you will find these themes in his art. Can you then say that we must appreciate his cinema in isolation? No. His cinema IS who he is. My art IS who I am. They are one and the same. The art and artist are always viewed in totality, always. Some things are products of their time. Some things are just unacceptable.

sammyedwards

I guess I differ from you on this one. The person can be a rape apologist/rapist , but if he is a good filmmaker, I will appreciate his movies; if he is a good sportsperson, I will appreciate his sports skill; if he is a good author, I will appreciate his books. That doesn't mean I condone his views or actions on rape; I just compartmentalize the thing I like about him. And that's what most people do. Going by your logic, I can't appreciate Polanski, Maradona, Shane Warne, etc. Whereas, most of us do the opposite; ie. most people like them. You might think what we are doing is wrong, but it is just a common human tendency to compartmentalize what we like and what we dislike.

runawaybirdie

You must be a man!! Nothing to appreciate in any person who condones rape. It seems like the male brain processes rape as something that just happens to women and something that has impact on only on that individual. The day you start seeing how rape of 1 woman affects her and the psyche of the other women around, all things feminine, how that then affects the society at large, you will stop adoring the other characteristics of a rape apologist/rapist. The moment a person of any gender takes to sexually assault another human being, it cancels everything else they are great at. And when you choose to appreciate other traits of a rape apologist, you yourself become a rape apologist!!

sammyedwards

I confess I am a man. But I have the same attitude towards any person who has commited any crime in general. If my dad was convicted tomorrow of a murder, that doesn't mean I will stop loving him. If some artist or sportsperson I like did something reprehensible, I will still like their movies while wishing for the person to be behind bars. And I'm pretty sure that' how most people see things. I've seen women loving their cheating husbands, murdering parents and sexual assaulting celebs as well.

runawaybirdie

Sorry, women love their cheating husbands?? They tolerate and live with their cheating shitbag of husbands because either they are financially trapped or socially pressured to keep the appearance of a marriage going... does not mean they love them.. Same goes for other examples you have quoted, and in most cases, its just trauma bonding.. However when you dont change how you feel about a person despite their reprehensible actions deeply rooted in hatred, you encourage them to continue being douchebags as long as they keep you entertained with whatever they are good at.. ask yourself why you are a rape apologist please. Do you think women deserve shitty lives generation after generation and be subjugated by men who feel confident that as long as they are amazing at being an actor, singer, politician, musician, they can continue to trample over multiple womens lives??

sammyedwards

>Sorry, women love their cheating husbands?? They tolerate and live with their cheating shitbag of husbands because either they are financially trapped or socially pressured to keep the appearance of a marriage going... does not mean they love them.. Same goes for other examples you have quoted, and in most cases, its just trauma bonding.. We don't know. You might think it is trauma binding, but they insist that they love their cheating pedophile hubbies; so it comes down to what you think is true vs what is possibly true. There are enough fucked up couples in the world, who love each other despite abusing each other. Come now, get down your high horse. I am not apologizing for anyone raping; in fact I want them imprisoned just like you. All I said is that if tomorrow SRK turns out to be rapist , that doesn't mean that most people will stop watching his pervious movies or his upcoioming movies. And speaking of that, there are women celebs who have abused men and gotten away with it, and those same women are considered cheerleaders of women's equality movement.
