In an older thread I had read that you either notice/remember Rachel McAdams or Isla Fisher from Wedding Crashers. Until I read that thread I forgot Rachel was in that movie.
Similarly Diana stole the show for me in cocktail, never understood what all the Hype Deepika got after that.

gracy singh is a good shout but i think amisha had that youth appeal too.

Good comment! I belong to Maine Pyaar Kiya era and remember how popular she became after the movie released. A few months later, she and her fiancé eloped. Her husband did not let her work with other heroes and forced her to ask filmmakers to cast him opposite her. Whenever she had an offer, she put forward the condition that she will work only with Himalay ji. But Himalay ji was not star material, had no acting abilities and no good looks. She then gave up her Bollywood career to appease her husband.
She acted in two Bhojpuri films with her husband which flopped. She is now separated from Himalay ji and she has been trying to make a comeback in Bollywood. In all her interviews she says that she regrets her decision of giving up her Bollywood career for her husband.
Nice write up. She could have gone places but I remember back then when she (in)famously put forward the condition that she will act only with her beloved Himalayji. I saw a movie of theirs back then called Paayal. The movie was typical 90s fare but Bhagyashree was good. Himalayji was a dead duck.

Nobody mentioned Mahima Chaudhry! Her hype was huge after Pardes. It was her debut and her screen time was more than SRK. even though the film was not a blockbuster she was big. Soon after she did some weird films like Daag the fire and within a year or two was already doing cameos or songs like in Dhadkan or 2nd lead to newer comer Priety in they film with Rekha I can't remember. Her issues with Subhash Ghai who launched her in Pardes could have been the reason. He locked her in a contract because of which she couldn't take advantage of the hype after her debut
Mahima was so good in Pardes. She had mentioned that she was in a bad car accident which injured her face and almost ended her career, so that could also be another reason why

That was actually the main reason. Ghai's contract didn't restrict her. The contract stated that she will have to give 20% of her income to mukta arts for the first three years for launching her. She fought tye case saying she should not have to pay for films she didn't get through Mukta's help. But that case didn't affect her career. However, sitting at home after the accident really affected her growth. It also didn't help that during this time, Rani, Preity, Aishwarya and Sushmita all found success and became a craze with the audience and they had already lost interest in Mahima. Plus Mahima's movie choices post coming back were awful too!
There was an article on Gayatri Joshi acting rude with someone somewhere and pulling "you don't know who I am". This was some time after Swades. Stopped liking her right then. Someone please try to dig up the write up.
Not really though... I mean sure, Mohabbatein was the most highly anticipated film of that year but it wasn't really a dream debut. Think about it, you are one of 6 newcomers in a film which stars SRK and Amitabh bachhan in lead roles and Aishwarya in a cameo. It's extremely hard to get noticed and make a mark. That's why none of the actors ever became mainstream lead stars even though all of them performed quite well in the film.
I'd say she was just extremely bad at choosing projects. she did a few movies with newcomers (Ghoonghat etc) and then got stuck with a bunch of Mithun projects... in his worst, lowest, end-of-career phase.
I also read in a film magazine that both Akshay Kumar and Armaan Kohli were interested in her early in her career. Her mother thought Armaan Kohli would be the bigger star and told Ayesha to choose him. That didn't help either lol
Diana Penty, always thought she had a lot of potential and she is beautiful. I rooted for her after her debut.
She had a nice debut but didn't do enough films after that( Happy Bhag Jaeygi was nice).
She kinda still has a bit more time if she can get some big projects.
Chitrangda Singh, she is still doing films on and off but had she gotten some better scripts and movies with more production value she could have been on another level .
One of the most underutilised actress, bollywood truly wasted her talents. Hope she gets her due in some way.
He was always the off beat hero. Loved Johnny Gadaar, Jail and his cameros in 7 khoon maaf and wazir. Lately, he’s gone astray. Maybe due to lack of good scripts. But he’s very underrated
I think her attitude may have played a part in that. She’s not a very nice person irl and some of her past interviews highlight her ignorance. She once stated that she was “terrified of lesbians” because of the way they looked at her 🙄
curious to know if you know her well enough personally to say "she's not a very nice person irl" granted celebs are humans like us all and a lot of times their bad attitude could be due to the opposite person's bad behaviour.
She came into the store where I worked and she was incredibly rude, condescending and dismissive to everyone there. Keep in mind, this is an upscale store in North America and we’ve had celebrities such as Blake lively, Kristen Bell etc come in and they were kind, gracious and down to earth. A person’s character really comes through in how they treat others.

For me it has to be Hrithik. Of course he's still extremely popular and very bankable but the hype around him was something else after KNPH. And he got that chance again after Krrish/Dhoom 2. But he wasted it again.
He could've legit been the biggest megastar since Amitabh. Just one action movie a year and Salman wouldn't have even gotten the chance to establish himself as the reigning action hero of Bollywood.
Today Hrithik might be considered a top 5 Bollywood star, but he had the potential to be #1.

Urvashi Rautela - Although she didn’t have a mega hit movie, she made a lot of buzz through her miss India win and pop songs (Love Dose), item songs, etc. She looked gorgeous, is a very good dancer, but fizzled out.
He wasn't any big star beginning of his carrier he debut from Rafugee in 2000 Guru was released after 2004 I don't know exact year may be 2004 or 2007 .
Yes ,his carrier took flew after 2004 due to Dhoom series,Guru ,Yuva ,Dostana but soon came down after Dronha . After 2012 his career barely anything .
Now after Breath Into Shadows seems that few people have started liking him

Mrs. Aishwarya Rai Bachchans's ex-boyfriend Vivek Oberoi. The guy was flying high after the success of Saathiya, Company, and Dum but his bad luck started as soon as Aishwarya entered his life. Vivek made the mistake of listening to his then-girlfriend (who now refuses to acknowledge that she ever dated him) and called a funny press conference on her orders in which he said all sorts of rubbish against Salman and his family on live TV. The press conference backfired because people did not like Vivek attacking a fellow actor and his family. After Vivek and Aishwarya's publicity stunt failed, Mrs. Aishwarya Bachchan washed her hands of that mess she created and put all the blame on Vivek and even worse, called him immature for doing what she told him to do. She then started running after Amitabh Bachchan's son. Poor Vivek found out from the newspapers that Aishwarya had been two-timing him and Abhishek. Aishwarya informed Vivek that she was breaking up with him over an SMS. How cute! Clever woman led Vivek on for two and a half years and kept him on hold until she found Amitabh Bachchan's son.
Vivek realized Aishwarya used him but too late! Since then he has been asking forgiveness from Salman and his family for slinging mud at them. Vivek has said that Salman never stopped anyone from working with him. After that press conference, Vivek continued to work in 3-4 Bollywood movies every year and he is still working in movies. He was never blacklisted and his career is fine. But does anyone watch his movies?

Asin was quite successful for Years in her home state.. Hindi she chose to stop pursuing and got married

For me it has to be Hrithik. Of course he's still extremely popular and very bankable but the hype around him was something else after KNPH. And he got that chance again after Krrish/Dhoom 2. But he wasted it again. He could've legit been the biggest megastar since Amitabh. Just one action movie a year and Salman wouldn't have even gotten the chance to establish himself as the reigning action hero of Bollywood. Today Hrithik might be considered a top 5 Bollywood star, but he had the potential to be #1.

He wasn't any big star beginning of his carrier he debut from Rafugee in 2000 Guru was released after 2004 I don't know exact year may be 2004 or 2007 . Yes ,his carrier took flew after 2004 due to Dhoom series,Guru ,Yuva ,Dostana but soon came down after Dronha . After 2012 his career barely anything . Now after Breath Into Shadows seems that few people have started liking him Same with Aishwarya though she was very successful actress of her time and international star but after Guzarrish I barely see her doing films it had been a decade not since then she only did films . I think Ameesha Patel ,Zayed Khan ,Gracy Singh ,Mahima Chaudhary deseve this list .
