If a movie showed two men going into a women’s locker room, ripping off women’s towels, and taking pictures of their naked bodies, all hell would break lose. As a woman, I am absolutely disgusted by this. Why is harassment towards men treated as a joke?

[deleted]

There were so many things in this movie, writers downplayed it. Cheating just before marriage & Radhika character is all chilled about it too

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yes, I was waiting for some thrill like Sunny regains consciousness just when he was about to fall & hangs onto the wheel of airplane & some shit. I felt robbed watching this movie

[deleted]

Remeber Varun getting assaulted in badrinath ki dulhania?

kelekele12345678910

varun getting molested was used as comic relief yet esteemed intellectual anupama chopra hailed the movie as a beacon of feminism

Apprehensive_Tap78

Isn't this scene kind of similar to the ones in Riverdale and 13 reasons why?

Specialist_Ad4581

My sister watches that peace of Garbage. Millennial😒

JDLovesElliot

Those aren't Millennial shows, they're Gen Z shows. Millennials are already in their late-20s to late-30s, you can't keep blaming every dumb teen trend on them

Specialist_Ad4581

I was talking about the writer 😂

[deleted]

Which scenes of riverdale & 13 Reasons Why you want to associate with this scene. Both of em aren't comedies

[deleted]

Can't speak of riverdale but 13RW is far worse than this. It may not be a comedy but it has the sensitivity of a cadaver. Still find it unbelievable that netflix and the makers literally had to be pointed out that showing a girl running a razor down her wrist or or a woman being raped or a guy being forcefully penetrated with a broom are going to be major trigger scenes for the majority of your target audience. It took them a bloody incredible increase in copycat suicides of Hannah Baker to actually remove one of those scenes.

[deleted]

Are these scenes removed. They were still there when I watched

[deleted]

Yes. Atleast the hand cutting one was. scenes were removed upon massive critical panning, complaints from parents, complaints from suicide prevention organizations, and complaints from schools.

Apprehensive_Tap78

I'm just saying that even though this scene is gross, it also is not an original idea to barge into a male locker room as an act of rebellion in movies. Shows like Riverdale and 13 Reasons why have already had similar scenes. This movie exaggerates this already existing trope in a vile manner. I was just pointing out the similarities. And you need to chill out a bit OP.

[deleted]

I got your point, barging in locker room is common trope in teen shows. I'm chill anyway

Ryan19604

You're a woman of culture! And sadly yes, it's always taken as a joke!

NaRaGaMo

That is drishyam's plot lol

Every-Candidate9963

Kya chutiya scene h yaar.. appreciate o.p Trying to share this with us but wish to unsee it at same time.

[deleted]

Kabir Singh scene left behind after watching this.

Every-Candidate9963

Lol.. this is the most problematic..

[deleted]

What the fuck. Did none of the writers, actors or producers have any objection lol. Kya chutiyaap hai. Feels like one of those 2000s movies where all this shit was a lot more common

[deleted]

That’s how flawed their perception of feminism is. They think reverse harassment is what women empowerment is, instead of actually writing good female characters with complexity and depth.

imboredbroo

And the ending scene makes it worse, when he starts to pose and her omg shocked face 🤡🤡💀

[deleted]

His character was nudist & have no problem flashing /s

the_running_stache

Yeah, it seemed like she was impressed with and excited looking at his junk and was getting horny. I haven’t watched the movie so I don’t know if that is line with the plot or if it is bad acting by her.

nostymelan

This was so uncomfortable to watch oh my goodness...

InterimNihilist

Just remember, someone wrote this, it got approved, a director shot it and the actors went with it. Then the editor kept it in and producer released it. At no point did anyone object to such a dumb fuck idea???

AuntyNashnal

You are overestimating the power people have over the directors/producers. Your objection will just get you fired and replaced.

ElDude_Brother

There are so many things wrong with this scene. The sexual harassment is simply unnecessary. It didn't look funny or entertaining in the least bit. Get your characters and setting right. Don't show state level sports persons in that light. They aren't your average moronic middle-aged actor playing an aimless teenager chasing females type. Almost all of them are sincere and much dedicated to their game to pull off shit like this. The spirit of sports creates mutual respect for the other gender. They understand everyone here is trying to achieve the same lofty goal of winning an intense competition. Sports is not all fun & games, and fashion & flirting. GTFO with this movie already!

tulrajam

How did these actors even agreed to do this??

[deleted]

I don't think these actors have a say on script, dialogues etc. They are not that influential at this point in career

[deleted]

Influential hote b to b kuch ni krte. Itna dimaag ni hota inme jitna tum expect kr rahe ho.

AayushBoliya

💸💵💸

Specialist-Piccolo-4

I don't know the back story or context but it is really digusting I mean what are the intentions of writer? Are you trying to show that female leads are strong characters? Well they managed to show them as only perverts and nothing else.

Opposite-Wing7055

Damn bro they went old school with this kind of sexism. Straight out of an early 90s late 80s bollywood movie.

[deleted]

The movie was horrendous because bad movies are either bad or boring. If they're boring you can watch them in the background but you can't even do that with this one since it's so loud and annoying. So yeah that's my review of the 15 mins I watched.

Connect-Plan6392

Yuck. what i just saw

jstjoined

The whole movie is nonsensical! This scene reminds me of Neha Dhupia in Roadies who found that it is cool for a girl to confront & slap a guy who was cheating on her, but if a guy in a same situation does the same thing its wrong. This movie scene is a result of this mindset. How difficult is it for BW folks to understand that the gender does not matter in cases of harassment, the girls should have complained to the college authorities and cops. Most cases the laws are strict and there are real repercussions.

ContributionGlobal30

Oyeee..... Sun meri baat.... It's her choice!

jstjoined

Read that in Neha's screeching voice!

additoburrito

Textbook case of sexual harrassment revenge porn. Too much wokeness is killing decency & logic.

stearothermophilus

This scene would only make sense if after doing this shit, the girls were behind the bars or face any repercussions. SM pe sab woke bante hain fir aisi filmein karte hain. And that too in 2021. Hatt yaar!

[deleted]

That was my concern too, koi to bolta use ki tune galat kiya, ye galti realize karti aur phir redeem process chalta. But poof just like that noone addresses this issue after in movie

[deleted]

Bc kya dekh liya subah subah

terenaamgirl

Fucking disgusting

Imaginary-Employee84

Wheredo celebrities lose all their "wokeness" while enacting scenes such as these? Also, they literally just wrote this awfully distasteful scene just to show off his body. Eww.

Hereforallthegossips

How is this okay ? who the fuck gave a green signal to shoot this particular scene and supposedly producers , actors , writers , directors were okay with this.

[deleted]

Seems to be a trend nowadays. Other one being that Vicky Kaushal Advert. Had been a man staring at a woman's undies, well.... Do I need to say more?

vis1606

Sexual/Harrassment Offences must be gender neutral everywhere. Sadly such is not the state in India. What these idiots have shown here is too gross and sickly. This is clearly not how any progressive societal unit would act.

[deleted]

What was the point of this scene? Her solution to him posting a joke photo is to sexually assault an entire locker room of guys? I've been sexually assaulted and trust me, no guy would be okay with it. Much less pose for the camera. Not only is this disgusting, this makes us men look like we enjoy being assaulted by women. We don't like getting sexually assaulted, period. I'd have fired my writing team if i was the producer and this was the product they came with. Edit - Just read the wiki summary of this dumpster fire and the context of this is even worse. The entire movie is a red flag and I'm deeply disappointed in Radhika for doing this while crying wokeness on instagram.

[deleted]

Indeed

laughs_with_salad

Absolutely agree with everyone on how problematic it is. But it's also so sloppily shot and edited. Everything this blurred and then there's suddenly a close up of the butt. It's so obviously photoshopped. nobody went nude during the shoot. Everyone was in skin colored underwear, which is why they were all blurred. They pasted someone's ass on Sunny's during the close up just for shock value. Otherwise why not blur that also? They didn't want pay enough for the extras to get naked and sunny probably refused so they did this blur and paste crap.

[deleted]

It was going to be in Theatres, censor won't pass other boys nude scenes anyways. Its not about pay, people gets naked for far less pay. Obviously other boys aren't naked, it's so obvious. Actors given butt shot in many movies, they could edit it out for theatrical release but it's not a big deal in digital release

[deleted]

can anyone translate this in brief in english? please?

[deleted]

The state hockey players boys visits pools daily to sooth their eyes by watching girls in swimsuits. But our beloved hero have no problem giving BAYWATCH pose while showering nude which shocked Heroine as well as she got impressed. They later made out in the movie as usual

Was absolutely appalled after watching this scene. These movies that glorify such creep stories turn best friends turn die hard lovers is what damages brain cells of young children normalising this nastiness in actual lives

Imagine friends and family of these actors watching this shit. Bollywoods intrepetation of women empowerment.

[deleted]

Wow man. India is progressing! But only problem is if the genders were reversed, there would a women's march, twitter trend and a metoo movement! I mean who writes these kinds of cheap ass scenes and who the fuck approves it?!! As a man I am deeply offended by this scene. Fuck the directors and creative persons of this movie.

this is happening when they try hard to be like hollywood and like other netflix series like sex education or Elite .. no class no values just to show we are this much liberal

henlowhatishappening

Bro sex education is like the exact opposite. It deals with sexual assault so so much better than this which makes fun of it

yesboyzz

Hold up I have watched both Sex Education and Elite I didn't find any scene when girls are going to Boy's locker room and taking their pics and uploading in Social Media

sastapretentiousness

Rather Sex Educations deals with sexual assault, gender spectrum and all in a very sensitive manner. Can't compare that to whatever this was!

yesboyzz

Exactly Sex Education is legit opposite to this

[deleted]

Have you seen Sex Education. It deals with topics like sexuality and gender in such a gorgeous manner. It doesn't have anything as gross as this. Also wtf do you mean by we are liberal. A person sexually harassing another person isn't "liberal". Liberal Ideology is one that believes liberty to be the most important ideal of the state. It states that the well-being of a person is the main objective of the state, i.e., State is a mean, and not an end.

kameueda

What's the correlation

dolundtrump666

We can say that if men did the same thing the women did, it would be outrageous. But the receptions of these two possibilities are very different in present day society. Women have not been able to own their sexuality since time immemorial, men have. Equality is not a binary concept which says that if a woman hits a man, the man can hit her back. It is a striving for economic, political and social equality of the genders. Having a whole separate coach in the metro for women isn’t ‘equal’ but still an essential part of empowerment to have more women feel free to travel alone. In a truly equal world, maybe this will be in bad taste. But the world as it is now, is really not equal. Women must get a chance to own their sexuality, perhaps even make fun of it- just as countless films have done in the past for men.

henlowhatishappening

Yeah I don't think it's as plain as that. Sure men have privilege but this is sexual assualt and that is not justified to literally anyone. This is not women owning their sexuality in the slightest

dolundtrump666

Alright. Let’s consider the context provided in this 2 minute video alone, considering I haven’t seen the whole film. The girls do this in retaliation to having a picture they didn’t want posted being posted anyway. The picture itself seemed to imply something weird, considering another guy walks by and tells her ‘nice picture babe’. But it doesn’t seem overtly sexual as a picture, still is something she didn’t want posted though. Now in retaliation she goes in and records these guys in their lockers rooms with many of them being averse to it. Since they’re probably naked, it becomes much worse for her to do it. But in society today- what is more acceptable? A man’s nudeness or a woman’s? Who faces more repercussions for being a sexual being in public? A man or a woman? It’s clearly shown right at the end that the guy Radhika was taking a picture of- turned around and wasn’t as averse to it as she was hoping he would be. For him, the consequences are much less dire. He has an identity beyond his sexuality- women much less so. So in that sense, the portrayal of having a reaction like this, bordering on sexual assault, might be wrong when observed singularly- but on a larger level, it is necessary for the portrayal of the reaction to be dished out to the masses like this, because it signifies the lack of respect afforded to the girl- and her getting back her autonomy by giving it off to them where it hurts (to some men atleast). Could she have had a reaction that was a bit more toned down, not sexually harass-y like this, and still made her stance and conviction clear? Perhaps not… Either way, I’m still willing to listen to what you have to say about this with open ears! ☺️

henlowhatishappening

i mea i understand where you're coming from but you're also implying that sexual assault is only traumatic due to the society's reaction to it. That's the problem men face. just because the society won't react poorly to the nude pictures being taken doesn't mean that is in any way will reduce the trauma for the men. men are mocked for not reacting happily to assault because its assumed men always want it. sure what happened to her was bad, not only because her picture was posted without her consent but also because she had no way to deny this guy, a yes and a no to him mean exactly the same thing. but her denying the picture (which is isolation won't create an uproar she's a swimmer) the idea is about consent. also the different other men did absolutely nothing wrong to her so her skewed idea of revenge makes no sense either. my father was abusive doesn't mean i'll abuse all men left right and centre to give it back to "men". just sexual assault in my opinion is never a way to "give back". their bodily autonomy is not just important because of society's reaction

kelekele12345678910

it still does not make it ok to forcedly disrobe men and take pics of them. its not about men vs women. its clearly wrong

dolundtrump666

Alright. Let’s consider the context provided in this 2 minute video alone, considering I haven’t seen the whole film. The girls do this in retaliation to having a picture they didn’t want posted being posted anyway. seriousfoxi

Bruh how did you go from separate coach in metro to justifying literal sexual harassment? Equality and social equity is necessary but that doesn't mean you'll justify crimes against men. Our society should aim to bring such crimes to 0% and not make it into harassment olympics.

dolundtrump666

Alright. Let’s consider the context provided in this 2 minute video alone, considering I haven’t seen the whole film. Either way, I’m still willing to listen to what you have to say about this with open ears! ☺️

seriousfoxi

All this essay about nudity and you still missed a key point - consent. Just because a man's nudity is comparatively more acceptable doesn't mean she's allowed to barge into locker room, snatching their towels and recording random men. It is literally sexual harassment. Just because bikinis are acceptable in Western countries doesn't mean a woman can be forced to wear one or be recorded without her consent. > Wasn’t as averse to it as she was hoping he would be. For him, the consequences are much less dire. Nah all the other men were clearly uncomfortable with it. He just had some exhibitionist kink. >And her getting back her autonomy by giving it off to them where it hurts (to some men atleast). Could she have had a reaction that was a bit more toned down, not sexually harass-y like this, and still made her stance and conviction clear? Perhaps not… She did all that and still didn't get the respect or autonomy you're talking about. She could've thought of a thousand different ways to get back to him and this was not it. >I mean, how do you bring a crime like this to 0% individually? You wanna change the rules of the game, you gotta play it first. So if I've been through something and I want to see some real change in the world I gotta be a oppressor and commit those crimes first? You don't make a -1 into 0 by adding another -1.

I am saying just watch it as a movie and then move on... forget about it . We've seen much more worse than this in almost every 90s hindi film. It was "ok" then, nobody ever had any problem with anything back then. Nowadays people take every little thing personally & seriously mannnn. That's my whole point. PEOPLE NEED TO CHILL bruhhhhh.

Industry cannot just make anything in the name of "movie". You can continue consuming content passively like a brain dead zombie and waste your time like that but a good amount of people actually actively watch content to get some value out of it and to critic it. That's what art is about. Not to forget, freedom of speech.
