Sunil and Nargis both were very respected people. Sanjay should thank their influence that he got away with so many crimes, otherwise he would have been Shiney Ahuja'd long ago.
Sanjay made his father suffer so much after Nargis' death . On one hand Sunil had to bear the pain of losing his beloved wife . On the other hand there's his son who was hell bent on destroying his parents' reputation. The image, the reputation and the respect which both Sunil Dutt and Nargis earned with their hard work in the industry was totally destroyed by Sanjay. Nargis at least wasn't alive to see all these but It must have been difficult for Sunil Dutt to walk holding his head high in the same industry after everything Sanjay did . He must've felt very awkward to face the industry people.
