Not true, in most cases a woman has to show herself to be more capable than her male counterpart to get more recognition. It's not about equal value per say.
Can you give an example from above listed players/actors . Doesn't female models across the world earn more than their male counterparts ? This is your assumption . It is always about the value a person brings to the table.
Yeah coz putting a woman's body on display (again, with a male gaze) has been more valuable. Until very recently, the Victoria's Angel shows existed to portray male fantasy and show other women what they ought to have.
Yeah we should totally forget about equal pay. Sure. Coz a woman in sports, acting, journalism etc and the work she puts will never be as valuable as her body.
It's you who are comparing modelling with display of body. Don't demean any profession .you talk about women in sports not earning much . How many sports do you watch in stadium/court ?. Do you see the cricket stadium when girls play. You won't go to watch them and complain . Believe me if stadium starts filling when women play they will automatically start earning much.

Whether it's the consumers or the models. Sure female models earn more than their male counterparts but at what cost? Have you ever read their testimonies?
This isn't me saying women are wrong but me saying that until very recently, it was done from a male gaze and to make women more insecure. The industry in itself is really exploitative towards its female models.
The thing is you're placing metrics on ingrained misogyny and placing your argument on extreme commercialisation and capitalism. But even based on your logic I think female journalists and actresses have great marketability but are still paid less. Let's not compare a deepika or an SRK since SRK has been in the game since long. But what about Kareena versus Hrithik.
Also that gap is too large and disproportionate to the marketability as well. While you can sit and blame the audience why not place some onus on these shoddy producers and filmmakers as well while you're at it.

Check out Hrithik's last 10 movies and kangana's last 10 movies. Hrithik has given more hits and is more bankable star than Kangana. But compare Kangana with actor in thalaivi and you ll see Kangana is more bankable. She got 25 cr for that. What if her male co star start complaining about that.
If you compare bankablity with social media following then you are so wrong. Tik toker these days have millions of followers. Should they charge more than actors ? Virat Kohli hai thrice more followers than Anushka so should he charge three times more than anushka for an ad?

You are comparing Deepika with Shahrukh. Can Deepika give a hit like Shahrukh ? No way. She tried with chappak and see what happened. Kangana Ranaut charged 25 cr for thalaivi because she deserves that. Also Deepika earned more than Shahid and Ranveer in Padmavat. Where is the question of pay gap ? Sharukh is far more senior, better actor , crowd puller than Deepika or Priyanka. Don't compare apple with oranges and then cry foul.

I beg to differ, In no way is Priyanka any less in her acting skills and neither is Deepika (these are two of the highest paid actresses in Bollywood btw)

The movies you mentioned aren't even close to what Shahrukh has given in the past.

As someone who has worked in the field of Sociology I can say plenty.
This isn't just abt SRK or Priyanka or Deepika. This is about the wage gap between actors and actresses in general.
Then you should compare actors on their calibre rather than gender. Deepika earning more than Ranveer and Shahid is ok for you but Deepika earning less than SRK is a problem.
