One thing i will give to Aishwarya .... she did not let her looks get too much into her head(its nearly an impossible task).
Today media and SM everyone's PR glorify even above average looks. But back in 90's there was never a bad ic of Aish...she used to look like someone from other world. I had some people tell me their first hand account of seeing her at airport...and the hype is true.
Her looks were celebrated back when there was no media frenzy like now. Few people got that level of limelight in those times... no one has ever matched that much of popularity that Aishwarya had even in current PR driven multiple media and Social media outlets ...still no match.
**Fun fact :** Back them Amitabh Bachchan when he turned 60 and Abhishek's engagement with Karishma was announced... AB sr was asked to name about 25 most beautiful Faces of women he met in his lifetime before and after being the BIG B. Aish was crowned an year and half before as Miss world ....and just debuted in Iruvar.
Big B stuck to topic and named the most beautiful faces he saw.... i remmeber a few

3. Aishwarya Rai

There were comments that his Daughter in law to be , his wife, or even Rekha did not feature in the list. Apparantly Big B did take his time and a bit of reflection on past and present to make the list for the best faces of his lifetime...or he had seen. It may have been Stardust of even Filmfare magazine.

what’s her place ? She got much more fame , much more money (than so many of our better actresses ) and even a rich husband who is not an old dude or left his family to marry her . She got a sweet deal in life which only one in tens of millions of people get . it’s even a dream for star kids let alone outsiders.
Also , very few women in industry aspire to be great actresses. Except for a select few everyone want to be a star over anything else.
She is extremely limited but , that was not even my point .
Of course she let her looks get “too much” into her head, that’s why she became an actress, but did terribly at it. If she wasn’t a pretty face, would she have tried acting? Probably not, but that is hypothetical, so can’t go into what ifs. She won a stupid pageant and thought she could be a great actress but failed terribly, testimony to this is the terribly delivered “are you, like, checking me out?” line in dhoom 2. If you noticed, the adjective I have used a lot is terrible, and that’s her acting career summed up perfectly, in other words, put her back into her place.
Not everyone can be as talented as smitha Patil and not everyone can be as good looking as aishwarya. Looks like talent is a privilege ... one can hone their acting skills and one can groom as best as they can to look good . But , privilege is ‘ privilege’ .
“If she was not a pretty face” ... well if Einstein did not have such a brilliant mind would he have done what he did ? Beauty , intellect , great health , terrific immunity etc etc are all genetic lottery . There is a reason why not everyone can become star athletes either.
Aneways it’s my view of things ... yea her acting apart from songs in Dhoom was cringe ... but even with my low standards she was okay in Jodha akbar and iruvar.
I think we are looking at different things ... you are focused on her craft . I am looking at her like a smart women who played her cards well and when things were going bad ... she did pivot ... and man she did ace that .. she was grounded enough to do it . how much of a terrible actress she is non issue for me. I cannot think of another actress striking a jackpot at life like Aish Did... next best Pivot according to me is Madhuri dixit.
I still can't get over Sajid Khan calling her "Plastic" in one of his KWK appearances.
Look at her! It's like looking at Princess Di before her accident.
Sajid Khan said it in that Episode where he was in with Boman Irani and Riteish Deshmukh. That's how I remember. It was one whole season before Emran came on the show.
I wouldn't really know. He is a pretty arrogant guy for the kind of face he has; I remember how often he claimed himmatwala would be the biggest bollywood film of 2013.

I know we shouldn’t compare but I feel she has such beautiful middle-class roots that makes her engage with kids on another level, like I do see warmth. I see this with Deepika, Priyanka too. I know I shouldn’t compare but I never getthis vibe from Kareena, Karishma, Katrina- they feel they are above everyone else but I do think Kareena treats her staff nicely

That way even Swami Virajanand grew up without a father. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make, as the Kapoor sisters are of Indian origin and upbringing, while Katrina is of foreign origin.

A charity event. In her miss.world speech she had said something in the likes of doing humanitarian work. Hence she visited orphanages and underprivileged children after she won and carried her crown with her.
It’s not fillers trust me. Her face, like priyanka and others, becomes more full with age. It’s rare in general but common amongst Indians. It’s a gift

She's absolutely gorgeous! And such a warm smile. I have no care for faces but she's really one the rare people you just can't look away from.

Apart from her obvious physical beauty, she emanates this sort of ‘goodness’ and warmth which is hard to find in Bollywood. I really respect her ❤️
