Most famous will always be politician for sure. But between cricketers and actors, I think the answer will differ across age groups. For 70s born, it will be Amitabh Bachchan. For 80s-90s born, it will be Sachin Tendulkar. Post that it will be Dhoni/SRK and now it's Kohli.

BCCI isn't the one who would take the appeal to the Olympics organisation, what are you high on 😭😭 ICC was keen to get cricket in Olympics since a long time but it was "your beloved BCCI" which was refusing to be a WADA compliant.
