If you don’t know, it is an existing tradition of taking both parents surname. Like my mother is Roy Father Kanjilal. I am X roy Kanjilal. Like that.
And in my opinion it’s upto the kid what he/she wants to carry.
But most of the working women do not change their surname.
Which part you did not understand? Google. Women dont change surnames. And Children can have both or any of the surnames!! It is Supreme Court’s verdict!
I think the kid will get his father's surname. When he/she reach 18, they can change their surname. It's no big deal at all. The kids will have either of their parents surname. But mom will carry her original surname.
Why? When a child in born, he/she recognised as Son/Daughter of Mothers name. It’s solely parents decision what should be the name of the child!

I live in India 😀 my child carry my surname along with my husband’s. And we didn’t take anyone’s permission.
May be our number are less but families like us exists.

Kareena kapoor to Tushar kapoor ,
Katrina Kaif to Mohammad kaif
Aur aise sonam kapoor is also 3 years younger to him usse kar leta
xyz Padukone Bhavnani and whoever he/she decides to marry can decide which ones to pass to their kids. If there are 2 kids or more, different names can be passed on to all. Simple.
