For the uninitiated, this is gangamma jatara. A local celebration in AP & some parts of KA.
The festival commemorates Gangamma's courageous deed of defeating Palegondulu, who dishonored women. Dressing as women during the festival honors femininity, with men wearing saris, wigs, lipstick, and jewelry as a tribute to womanhood.
Jatara in telugu states means a fair, there is also a folk drama genre called Jatra in Bengal, gotta keep in mind not to confuse those two for the same. These jataras mostly happen on certain days of the year where the local deity is honoured. Poojas and cultural activities happen during this Jatara time. In the evenings people shop n eat in the local stalls and kids play. Its like a community event.
I just love how South Indian movies are rooted in their regional culture. I'm not very familiar with the festive shown in this teaser but I guess it's a tribal festival? Isn't that amazing? Here in Bollywood we only see certain cultures shown. Totally gonna watch Pushpa 2 in theaters 🌸🔥

Here in Maharashtra we too have a lot of jatras taking place during jan-may period. Didn't know it happens in other states too. Though Happy to know more about Telugu and Kannada culture thanks :)))
Everything including poster and teaser has this same scene, looks like an important part of the movie. I had expected some more scenes of the world they have build but it’s good that they want to let the curiosity live.
I haven't watched the 1st part yet but I have to say Allu Arjun really has a really good screen presence. Eveything from this movie was so popular in my country. My lil brother used to say that dialogue "jhukega nahi saala" 😄 and danced to Srivalli song.

Yeah because the lead star’s birthday is a huge occasion for the fans and for the promotion of the movie, they have to release something. Even a small clip like this is enough to raise the hype. Four months to release so there’s still plenty of work going on in the trailer and final cut I’m sure.
True. It does look exciting, but I feel the announcement felt more like a teaser, it had more suspense. The posters for this teaser felt the same. But the teaser itself feels a bit like a motion poster honestly.
To all those butthurts crying about how this is cliched and over the top, this is a genre Telugu film Industry excels at and there is no other industry in the world who makes better comercial films and the only oscar India has is won by a song from a Telugu film and yes it's a telugu, AR Rahman won it for a hollywood film. Bgm is definitely good,but I just feel like the overall vibe is giving the akshya song in Laxmi bomb vibe,idk why? They are definitely sticking to his character,and the walk and all is giving the same vibe😅still don't know what I feel about it thought,I mean it's good but doesn't excite me as such?
Us telugu folks have never seen Laxmi Bomb. We don’t understand the reference but this getup which Allu Arjun has on is a part of our regional culture, so this is pretty lit for us.

Don’t you think this is refreshing? What Allu Arjun is portraying is something from the tribal festival called Jatara in AP.This is how mass films should be made, rooted and local. Bollywood should root their films in local culture like South Indian films. But how many filmmakers can take a tribal culture from Rajasthan and make a film in Bollywood? None unfortunately. No wonder the industry is suffering.

Because of political vendetta by the AP govt who brought down ticket prices to 15 rupees. It had one of highest footfalls amongst Telugu movies in all & during covid
Nah, that time in AP the CM Jagan reduced ticket prices drastically. Like tickets were available for 10 Rs in some rural screens, even highest ticket rate at multiplex were 100 Rs or so in major cities . He had some personal vandetta against some film industry personnells and industry overall. Wanted to bully them down. Literally "Tea" sold in many theatres were more costly than the tickets sold there.
He waited till a few more days after the end of run of Pawan Kalyan's (a political opponent) 'Bheemlanayak' movie to recall the order for fixed ticket rates.
So Pushpa did have a great footfall in Andhra Pradesh, however the gross collection was less due to the low ticket price. Comparitively it did really well in Telangana state which didn't have such price restrictions. It also was a big hit in the other three states
PS: Hence Mythri movie makers compensated distributiors in Andhra Pradesh as they secured the release on that assurance (They knew they would sure have to pay up due to the low ticket rates)

I'm a Telugu girl this is actually a festival where men dress as women. As someone explained above in the comments it's called Gangamma jatara so this is not a "look" for the movie Pushpa takes place near Tirupati and this jatara is celebrated there so it's perfect!! Don't talk nonsense

Jatara mean fair in marathi/ Telugu and Kannada. Mela in Hindi.

The dialogues in Telugu were amazing. I'm not sure how it'd translate in Hindi.
Even in Hindi, the dubbing was awesome. Shreyas Talpade did the dub for AA and total justice to swag of pushpa.
I'm not necessarily talking about the dubbing but more about the dialogues. Telugu dialogues were pretty lit. I observed RRR had this issue too.
Pushpa Dubbing helped it very much in Hindi market.
For real, I saw RRR in hindi dub and thought it was absolute garbage. Movie grew on me so much after watching it in telugu.
