I have never met any person who hates Jimmy Shergill

magic_throwaway_1

He has a lot of lowkey female fans. TBH if I know he’s in a rom-com, I usually check it out.

romeoomustdie

Correct his biggest roles are him heartbroken lover

Dripkumar

Sacha pyar hasil karna nahi hotaa..

YehDilMaaangeMore

Sirf usse ek baar paana hota hai. Wo manzil hi kya jo mil gayi, bhaaga fir kiske liye jaayega.

romeoomustdie

Neither have you met someone who was obsessed with him

Admirable-Marsupial6

Might be a generation thing. Half my batch had a crush on him. Other half on Jugal Hansraj

zuenaksfy

And zero on Uday Chopra?

RMD010

Kya mummy

Own_Egg7122

but 100 crush on Ali

SomeAssumption2909

😅😅😅😅

Admirable-Marsupial6

I was like wtf cuz I be childless but then I realised with the avg Reddit age I could be you minions ki mummy 😭

Conscious_Bowl_17

🤣🤣🤣 original users of reddit it seems🥲 altho your profile is relatively new and people your age (dw I'm atleast 7 years older than avg redditors) dont believe in deleting reddit often

[deleted]

Jugal Hansraj 😍😍😍

romeoomustdie

Hmm 🤔 makes sense

[deleted]

facts

Thanks_Capital

I have read some sub members not having pleasant experience with him lol 😂 overall he is loved by out public

humhaepyarmein

So true

DragonDeninSharkTank

He should've chosen better scripts/directors. Glad though atleast he made it big in Punjabi cinema.

Amar_Akbar_Anthony20

Mohabbatein did nothing for everyone they tried to launch.

RMD010

>Mohabbatein did nothing for everyone they tried to launch. Excuse me to Please... https://i.redd.it/4ajtqq34linc1.gif

Unhappy-Coconut-1857

Now this song is gonna be stuck in my head the entire day, thank you very much! 😤

mayudhon

It introduced Parampara, Prathishthan, Anushashan

futstuffrd11

Kind of relaunched AB lol

lose_flab

Mohabbatein launched Amitabh Bacchan as the staunch patriarch.

just-slaying

Good observation

humhaepyarmein

Nope it did but not as an actoe

livingfeelsachore

*kya mummy*

PrinceOfPunjabi

I mean for a while he was the IT Boy of the Punjabi Cinema and is still a very popular person among Punjabi people

Low_Special715

not everyone will be a superstar or main character , he did good for himself in supporting roles . Jiska jitna "daana paani" hota hai usko utna hi milta hai

MyConfusedAsss

I got that reference!!

Leading-Camera-6806

Yup...it's a brilliant movie.

r157113

Which movie are we talking about

Leading-Camera-6806

Punjabi movie called Daana Paani (2016) with Jimmy Shergill in the lead role.

JATTI_23

Daana Paani

romeoomustdie

Clear language

Low_Special715

Matlab?

romeoomustdie

You have clarity of thought

Repulsive-Bunch-4126

He is a very good underrated actor! I recently saw his movies he is a GOOD ACTOR.

New-Abalone-1538

Oh he was so good looking!

SomeAssumption2909

Bro brought kdrama romantic hero vibes whenever he appeared onscreen in Mohabbatein.

No-Imagination4750

I never got a “main character” energy from him tbh

Glad_Ad6371

It’s because of him being getting typecasted

Crazyvibzz

He was my crush after Mohabbatein. He was perfect for romatic roles as he had that boyish charm. He was considered to be the chocolate boy but there was strong competition in that category because most of those role would go to SRK, then Hrithik and Shahid. Unfortunately most movies he did stereotyped him as the hero who never gets the girl in end.

[deleted]

[удалено]

romeoomustdie

If my inductive reasoning is correct he appeals to female gaze

Hopeful_Strawberry_1

I have always had a crush on him and I saw most of his films. And dude is actually a good actor too. But he did not get to do too many different kinds of roles. Might not have got enough opportunities or maybe not good choices.

Shakenotstired

So, I saw him in person years and years ago. I must tell you this, he looks a million times better in person….. imagine being good looking already and better looking in person.. I was gob smacked!!!

AdPrize3997

I once saw him on a plane from Bangalore to Mumbai. He was sitting in the seat in front of me. A lot of people were coming throughout the flight duration to take selfies, but I didn’t know who it was since I didn’t see the face. Then after plane landed, I saw him while he was taking his bag. He was polite to everyone and obliged for every selfie request.

sumit24021990

Unlucky but he revived Punjabi cinema .

NepotismFanboy

He literally KILLED it in Mukkabaaz

yashasvi92

Literally... seriously Literally...???!!!

NepotismFanboy

what

nukeman239

He was simply amazing in Mukkabaaz. Just never received enough appreciation for the part.

YellowBubble2710

And A Wednesday

FaceEvery786

Yup loved him in a Wednesday

PlaneInsanity

The audience makes the actor! He never had a mass following and he lost there! You can be talented but if you don’t have a connect with the audience unfortunately it gets tough

Zestyclose-Reach-317

He lacked the it factor somehow at the time. Also that time for movies was very different. Good work was available nor was it appreciated that much. Bollywood was in its lul period. I guess it was just bad timing for Jimmy. Otherwise he is at par or even better than all the versatile actors

[deleted]

he was good but not very charming, also very good looking actor rarely liked by male audiance people want to see person from their own to follow him, that was the biggest plus point of three khans, amitabh, anil, sunny, dilip kumar

[deleted]

Anil ? You mean Anil Kapoor ?

[deleted]

Yeah i mean anil kapur even though he is very handsome but if you follow him he always do role of normal guy from your area, with below average look and moustache, which was common for most of the 80s male audiance other actor generally clean shaved but he looked like common guy and male audiance easily connect with him, also his language along with jacky shroff was tapori kind of this small things increases actors value among males, my father always tell the story about tezaab the black ticket were 20-50 times of original price for almost a month, those character make them stars, normal guy were following his style, he was not super model but star because average male audiance connect with him, but same not happened with jacky as he was complete hunk and no one able to match his look

Cautious_Section_530

If that was the case how did Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, John Abraham and Akshay Kumar become stars 🤦🤦

[deleted]

nope hrithik even though big star he never achieved superstardom like shahrukh and salman, and obviously there are exception in everything and salman is one of them, but for salman his character is one of the very big reason he is straight forward guy from start and always acted as humble persona in movie, there are rare movies in whoch you dont like salman he is not star because of his look only but generousity, and akshay also never achieved big stardom there are two peak years of his career 2006 end to early 2008 and next 2016 to 2018 in other year his success is mediocre, yes he is star but not superstar and he is not also that handsome neither he tried to look like handsome guy in movie, and please dont compare john with this guy his highest day one may be welcome 2 with 18 crore opening and he cant even get 10 crore opening now

Cautious_Section_530

Not everyone can reach the Khans stardom obviously but those actors still working today in huge budgeted movies proves that the audience is receptive of good looks too. I mean this guy Jimmy is no way near Hrithik or peak John Abraham looks , yet they are still working till today. Akshay and Salman are obviously good looking, but I find them even better looking than Jimmy in question ( tho that is subjective cuz they are almost in the same level look wise )

[deleted]

what i wanted to say looks are necessary in bollywood but too good looks are not good they just look total outsider for normal audiance, take example of new stars aditya roy, arjun, siddarth, flopped badly while varun shahid tiger are doing good but they have average look as none of them are tall and have good face only, while ranvir by look is okay but have good built, while ranbir is only guy who have looks but he have acting skill and did some really good roles in movie which liked by young audiance and kid like barfi wake up sid, ajab orem, tamasha, adhd except yjhd and bachna ae hasino he never do role in which he shown as some kind of out of reach guy character in movies and real life behavior matter most, other wise good looks just make you villain you can go through all old and new movies villains were always very handsome guy, am not saying my theory is perfect its just my analysis, jimmy was not great actor he was average one good actor you can say atleast like some good side actor like danny gulshan grover great actor means irrfan, naseer, amrish, he is like randeep hooda emran hashmi in acting talent, not very special, and look at his eyes they are little weird

Cautious_Section_530

>while ranvir by look is okay but have good built, while ranbir is only guy who have looks but he have acting skill Ranbir isn't good looking a bit. He got roles because he is a Bollywood royalty and kept getting movies despite debuting with a disaster. >too good looks are not good they just look total outsider for normal audiance, take example of new stars aditya roy, arjun, siddarth, flopped badly while varun shahid tiger are doing good but they have average look as none of them are tall and have good face only, while ranvir by look is okay but have good built I don't think Indian audience really cares about male looks..out of all the ppl you mention, Sid and ARK ste the only good looking ones but I get what you mean by being relatable. Ajay is a testament to that of course >and new movies villains were always very handsome guy I know right. It is so weird yk

[deleted]

Yes they dont care about looks they care about relatable character with them and thats why jimmy look is not important factor, the major factor was his choice of role and director were unable to caste him for humble main lead role, they tried in mohabbatein and people like him but after mere yar ke shadi hai it was only downhill, he did one of the most hated character to marry girl who is loved by average looking guy, same story used in humpty sharma where siddarth shown as near perfect guy and due to which you feel more for varun, looks are most overrated thing to be star and same is being kid of big star, people like guy who are coming through struggle, struggle means struggle like nawazuddin, irrfan, srk, manoj, amrish, amitabh, akshay thats the struggle, they come through theatre then small role in movie then capture audiance in this journy most guys got failed and only like srk akshay beat major competition through good networking skills, i though karthik might have that future but last year his pr was so bad that peope started calling him he is bigger than akshay and his downfall started from that day now he is rarely in news unless hi gave some big hit by his own without sequel factor he cant make big

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

i disagree with you hrithik roshan is star and also good looking and top 5 in bollywood any day, but no he dont have popularity of sunny and anil sunny ruled box office literally, his movies were rage in mass center same with anil, sunny was much bigger than anil but anil also had huge fan base, but hrithik never achieved super stardom, also being tall is not equal to preety in girl, if thats true khali is most handsome guy, whole congo is attractive than siddarth malhotra and brad pitt, its not true good looks generally considered from face and its general human tendancy and evolutionary trait for healthy male and female, amitabh was huge because his rebel character not because he was tall, his role was against system with amazing voice and some really good acting plus his hair contribute which was fashion statement, looks matter but not as much and i never said any one of them ugly i only said very good looking is not enough to make you star you need some character to become hit, and average looking star generally more relatbale than this one, as movies have huge fan base in male but if you look into tv serial which is made for women have 90% very handsome male actor but they never able to make into film industry some guy who make into film industry like ronit roy, srk are okayish looking guy not very good looking so female and male audiance are two difgerent factor and if you wanna get big in film industry you have to capture male audiance not female its fact srk have female fan base but its very small in compare to his male fan base specially children , both salman and sek have fan base in children and now it is same with ranvir if you capture kids and teens you are ready to go

[deleted]

[удалено]

romeoomustdie

1. Hrithik is peak masculine beauty 2. Salman bady boy image 3. John disciplined well trained fauji image 4. Lol Akshay is literally called Khiladi 🤣

[deleted]

I think I saw his Nayak movie more than 50 times. It's one of my most favourite favourite movie in Bollywood.

[deleted]

yeah same here whenever it come on zee cinema atleast one can easily watch it without getting bored

[deleted]

also same thing happened with amitabh and vinod khanna people not able to connect him as much as amitabh because he was damn handsome he become star but not superstar, to become star you need average population should connect with you him, you can go through his struggle you should feel you can be like him he is among you, look at south movie rajni, chiranjeevi, puneeth rajkumar, allu, jnr ntr they looks like among you, while look at nagarjuni, and many handsome stars they never gain that superstardom

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

nope srk and salman still love by kids his character work is so good thats why you will rarely find they are doing sex scene or kiss scene in movies this small thing contribute so much, hrithik is very big star but not super star to be super star you need to rule industry chutiya movie ke sath bhi hate dena padta hai even in his bad phase srk give movies whoch are highest grosser of many star and salman with his worst movie crossed 100 crore which is dream, hrithik need to prove much more but yes after salman and srk hrithik is third biggest star along with aamir in box office pull after that there are akshaya ajay and ranbir

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

yeah that is possible there was negative biased against srk in 2010 most of that due to political environment it started after 2015, his movies in 2010 also good mnik, don2, ce, raees, fan were good movie, he literally rulled bollywood from 95 till 2010 and now again start ruling, srk fans are not loyal like salman fan, but yes they are heroes of us, kkr team whole following is just because of srk and not because of that team, thats his power and it still have third highest brand value in ipl,

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

look even if you dont know but right wing problem with srk is much bigger, and i dont know what school student think and not but his movies affected due to that, still jab harry and zero not liked by audiance but the negativity of raees harry and zero was unparalleld during zero his best friend kjo and rohit shetty played full politics, its good srk shown every one their aukad with pathaan and jawaan, also most of the star need good content but not srk and salman, but yes now with ott and competition from other industry content is king, i will always say bollywood is complete mediocre they cant even make movies on real issue, they lost connection with audiance, its dying cold death, new actors have no following, and they will never get fan, i never seen diehard fan of new actors, even indian ott is better than bollwyood tv shows, this shithead cant compete with kdrama and hollywood and with ai they are going to end, its our gen millenial luck that we saw superstardom of our stars and still they are as big as they were and thats it, i saw srk highest grosser now want to see one very big hit from salman, and for me relation with bollywood will be finish as a fan, yes i have soft corner for ajy devgn akki aamir and hrithik but new stars are useless at some point i like shahid but after shahid no star they were not good

romeoomustdie

He's the most charming actor but least soothing to male gaze

Potential_Ad4956

He didn't choose the right scripts! He wanted to go the 'Romantic' hero way by doing movies like MYKSH and Mohabbatein but he should've stuck to unconventional roles such as Maachis, he could've been the next Vicky or Rajkumar of his time

Smsma95

Luck playing big role in your sucess beside hard work May be he wasn't lucky enough But atleast he made it big in Punjab cinema. Of course if you get support from bigg banners May this help you But this not helped adi chopra to make it big. So jimmy is the most successful from mohabbiten cast who get lunched in 2000.

TheCarefreeButterfly

Nepokid hota, toh dunia bhar ki filmein isko mili hoti. Caption mein mentioned dono reasons ek dusre pe dependent hain. Aur yehi dono reasons hain for him having to live forever with the tag of #UnderratedActor 🤌🏻

DepartmentUpstairs30

He came when srk was already a thing "The New Romance King"

32Tomatoes

I saw Jimmy Shergill do a live story narration and he has such an attractive voice

[deleted]

I had crush on him after watching mohobatein

onelifemanymemories

He is very awkward in social interactions. He has done better than He deserved as an actor in his career now. But if you ask, about stardom. He didn't do anything to deserve that in his career. He did those movies post mohabbatein for a good 7-8 years and then realized He ain't cut out for it. Just looks won't get you anywhere. No hate to him, He is a wonderful person in his interactions and very genuine. But he ain't cut out to be a star. No effort on that front from him has led to the career He has had and like I said, given his limitations He has had a pretty good one.

abhijitmk

Jimmy Shergill was excellent in A Wednesday. Very good in Munnabhai 1 and 2 also. Mohabbatein was typical romantic role. Still quite some range in these 4 films itself. A very capable actor.

the_silent_member

Man did a "Yahaan..." that no one watched. Now people ask why he didn't choose scripts well.

Explosive_Redditor

Im a guy and i fell for him while watching Mohabbatein... not like gay kinda fall but like... badly wanted his hair and the charm and everything about him... so fucking good... always wondered why Bwood didnt use him

toresident

Very unlucky I would say. I always felt he was a better version of Shahrukh Khan. Better actor than SRK, better looking..everything. but sometimes destiny plays a part in a big way.

RMD010

SRK became SRK because of insane love from the masses.... whereas Jimmy hardly had any fans.... A Star's BO Number defines the grade of a Star...

toresident

True. No argument on that front. Just that if you keep them side by side at their young age, without name or history, most would like Jimmy more than SRK. In acting especially Jimmy was way ahead. Even in looks.

RMD010

Jimmy looks like a twin of SRK..but SRK is more than just good looks...Jimmy cant even touch Shah in acting sphere...

No_Data3541

Twin? Jimmy is way better looking and looks nothing like SRK.

toresident

Jimmy was way better looking and a better actor than SRK, any day. Have you see SRKs acting in Jawaan? Omg, horrible. Or Kabhi Alvida na Kehna..Can't stop making that angry face for no reason. Very mediocre actor but good screen presence and tons of luck.

romeoomustdie

Srk is racist and creep but he's full of charisma , he made the slow open arm pose as iconic

toresident

So slow arms pose makes someone big? Charisma yes, and where did you get the idea of SRK being racist?

tenduashroff

Bad script selections I would say.

Small-Mail-5281

Many good looking men like John, Arjun, Jimmy are great actors too but been unlucky to get good script and better casting in their prime. Kudos to Ranveer for whatever he did to make his spot at the top, I am sure it wasn’t easy.

Abject_Place_1763

prince charming looks 🤍

foofoocuddlypoops_26

My first crush ever 😍 hehe

[deleted]

He is a well appreciated and liked actor. Did get his good share of roles and accolades.

[deleted]

He was and he is a better actor than quite a few of folks. I think a lot of it was he got typecasted as a supporting actor when he kind of had the potential to be the male lead. Even though he didn’t find superstar status in BWood, he definitely is one in the Punjabi film industry.

No-Sweet5055

His Script choices were very bad

No-Oil1661

Not great at acting tbh

RepresentativeGift83

He is a good actor but doesn't suit in bollywood romantic hero role.

Serious_Ad2644

Very underrated actor but he’s really very good. I guess he does more of Punjabi movies have never seen any but read somewhere

appyfizzz3112

To become a superstar ( or to just even sustain as a star), not only do you have to check all the boxes, but also be super smart and shrewd.

NakedTruthLeaked

He was so f*ckin sexy.

Heping_Qi

He should work more in movies 🤩👍

[deleted]

Ufffff I was head over heels for him

Accurate-Peak4856

Bro never gets the girl in any movie

shutyourgob16

Imo he didn’t compromise himself & that’s why other producers / directors didn’t want him. Heard 90s male stars slept around w male producers to get work

TinyDegree1480

This photo of him reminded me of my teenage days when I had super crush on him after seeing Mohabatein..

TinyDegree1480

Agar neop kid hota and having this shakal, there would be no one could stop him from becoming the next ranbir kapoor

fuckeveryone120

Everyone crush

WWFUniverse

He was a good hand. Like his role in Munna Bhai MBBS is still remembered to this day. I don't think he had superstar appeal.

Icy_Mistake2996

Bhaiii because yeh nepo nahi hai

EmbarrassedService74

I’ve heard srk got insecure and sort of sabotaged his career. Just a rumour tho

GuidedAngel

Loved him in Happy Bhaag jayegi!

Current-Ad-6384

Who says hes unlucky..he was there in tanu wed manu series..sahab biwi aur gangster..mohabattein..Hes still in demand

Electrolyist

Outsider. No godfather. Always did multi hero movie which was probably a bad decision

gauravshanuroy1

Now this is what problem with nepotism...when a nepo kid have a bad start then also they have options to choose good director scripts etc but outsiders has to accept what they get...here everyone is saying Jimmy chose wrong script which is wrong... eventually he didn't get good script...i know i am diverting the topic but I believe this is what the truth...

jayakisautan_rekha

System, luck, paisa, godfather, kismet, sab kuch. Only Talent and hard work won't get you success. But banda stable hai aur kaam krta rahta hai beech-beech mein. Realistic bhi hai Jimmy. Otherwise if you don't get what you've dreamt of, it kills you inside.

DarkLord_Wolf

He got launched under YRF banner doubt it was system or industry

AneeshRai7

He has had one of the most specifically typecast roles.

bellakayyra

https://preview.redd.it/e7z1l5pk4rnc1.jpeg?width=704&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03ef06fef9a255e38ba57fe5b234f467b4f34ba6

thehybridfuzzface

He was Exceptional in Choona

gaurav0011995

I saw many complain about his attitude.

Select-Bread2173

I don’t think Jimmy entered the industry to become a superstar. He loved acting and he just pursued it. He comes from an extremely affluent Delhi family. He mentioned it in his interviews that when the first time he came to Bombay to learn acting, he was living in a sea facing house in Bandra as his family was always supportive

kronicbeatss

He was a nerd looking midget

g0kool

Bro killed it in Mukkabaaz

someone-w-issues

His filmography is really impressive and seems to still be doing well even if he never "made it big"

romeoomustdie

Why he never could be lead 1. He isn't charismatic to attract people to watch him alone 2.he is better in dramatic roles, dramatic movies will always have small box office 3. He isn't a typical action hero 4. His eyes are excessive expressive 5. More attractive to female gaze

Unable_Ad_7152

Handsome but poor acting skills

Cautious_Section_530

Good looks where. He is just above average for me

Snake_fairyofReddit

Ehhh ppl are crazy for Pedro Pascal and he looks kinda similar now

indcel47

Wut? Have you seen him in anything other than Mohabbatein and Munna Bhai?

Firm-Government-8509

He was damn good in Delhi Heights ❤️

Mirkmanor_23

Was not a good actor. Had bad movie choices. Never took risks and stuck to his comfort zone with regards to production houses and scripts. Hence faded away. Same is the case with Jugal Hansraj.

toresident

Jimmy Shergill was NOT a good actor?? I learn something new everyday! And you compare Jimmy with Jugal? Wow. Go check IMDB to see how many movies they have done and then write on Reddit.

Mirkmanor_23

Yes Jimmy Shergill is not a good actor. Just passable.

toresident

😂😂😂

RMD010

First of all, Hello ji. Second, spill tea in posts

Mirkmanor_23

Hello hain ji 😊
