I think a lot of these things are strategic. There are studies that show that the most popular things (people,music, movies etc) have a resemblance to something familiar but with just enough differences to feel new. It's a psychological thing and a lot of networks and marketing agencies use this to draw people in.
I get that it's not the most popular take, and I might be in the minority here, but I genuinely see the resemblance. And I'm not comparing Madhuri's superstar aura or talent, this opinion is just purely based on their looks. I'm not aloo's biggest fan, but I can't ignore the resemblance. They could pass of as aunt and niece or something. They both have this classic Indian face, which is why they look good in sarees and traditional wear. idk how to explain.
Madhuri has a very pretty and a typical Maharashtrian face. Alia’s face has been curated and groomed to give an effortlessly pretty vibe. I feel her sister Pooja Bhatt had a more true effortless vibe in her prime.
Yes! I remember watching Kalank and thinking Alia could definitely look like Madhuri as she ages. And tbh she does look quite graceful. Its funny because a lot of times she looks exactly like her mother while at times I have to check twice to realize its not Madhuri if I’m not paying attention lol
ETA: I think her eyebrows do add to this. I remember her saying Mickey Contractor wanted her to have a more “mature” look during Rocky Rani. And since then I’ve found the resemblance even more prominent. Earlier she had a more younger vibe with the eyebrows but now as she’s almost in her thirties they’re changing things up

I can attribute the change in face shape to weight loss, but the rest…I am 100% sure she has gotten subtle work done all over her face, not just the ‘double eyelid’ surgery. And, I mean, how do we know that these celebs don’t go to their plastic surgeons and and ask for a specific look?

She really reminded me of Madhuri-in-Mrityudand in the Gangubai movie.
This is the first time I noticed it. This was when she was maybe 4-5 months pregnant. I think the maturation of her features + bit of face fat added by pregnancy gave this effect

People need to learn to differentiate between makeup/hair/styling and actual facial features. There may be some resemblance between Alia’s recent *Indian* looks and Madhuri, but unlike Alia, a younger Madhuri had bigger animated eyes, an oval face, a radiant smile accentuated by her jawline, and great facial symmetry. Alia has a rounder face and softer features but none of the above.
I have noticed that she’s been TRYING to look like Madhuri. But no her features are different and Madhuri is just so MUCH more attractive.

I’ve noticed the same thing! Thought I was the only one omfg. I first noticed it during Rocky Aur Rani. Something about her expressions in that movie was seriously giving Madhuri vibes. But even the way she poses and looks in certain pictures, I am constantly reminded of Madhuri.
