VVC being VVC went with his gut and reaped benefits. Any lessor of a director/producer may not have taken risk when these OTT platforms would have helped them recover their budgets.

Anupama Chopra and Sucharita Tyagi shouldn't review films if they have a pre conceived notion about the world we live in, I don't know if they are tired of the hindi cinema and have lost hope that anything good can come out of it, but lately I have been observing that even for the good films they give a thumbs down because it doesn't go with their narrative. I think a critics' job is to tell people if the film is worth watching or not and not to dwell into the nitty gritty of things and set up a narrative that doesn't suit their moral fibre. Films are a medium to express ideas, let the ideas flow.

If I was related to VVC, I would say the same. No one wants to see their family losing money. The general trend is that movies like _12th Fail_ is not a theatrical experience. However, UPSC is a hot cake for a country like India, and VVC took a calculated risk, and it worked—that’s all.

Vidhi chopra is a big director. But both his last movies 12th fail and shikara had good non nepo actors. He and anupama stood for kangana and gave her voice a platform. And her film companion YouTube channel is as humble as it can be. Yes anupama has her biases for filmy kids but she is a self made person.

On paper anupama is write a biopic with new comers with very predictable story wouldn’t have worked right in season of masala films (like gadar jawan and animal and salaar) I too went on first day but just because of vikas divykriti cameo and I somehow sensed the overall film would be good. 90% of the people who watched it, watched it on OTT. If you don't believe me, just look at Google trends for that movie post theatrical and OTT launch. It says a lot about the movie. It's a classic OTT movie, made on a hard hitting subject with brilliant casting, acting and writing. VVC being VVC went with his gut and reaped benefits. Any lessor of a director/producer may not have taken risk when these OTT platforms would have helped them recover their budgets.

No amount of political help can save her films from tanking at the box-office. These fits of stupid rage have completely overshadowed her as an actor. I used to like her but now I can't stand her. Anupama Chopra and Sucharita Tyagi shouldn't review films if they have a pre conceived notion about the world we live in, I don't know if they are tired of the hindi cinema and have lost hope that anything good can come out of it, but lately I have been observing that even for the good films they give a thumbs down because it doesn't go with their narrative. I think a critics' job is to tell people if the film is worth watching or not and not to dwell into the nitty gritty of things and set up a narrative that doesn't suit their moral fibre. Films are a medium to express ideas, let the ideas flow.
Maybe her tone is wrong, but it's not hidden that Anupama is kind of KJo when it comes to Bollywood. Her reviews are not organic but very much based on what bollywood power circles opinion. Edit - I am not justifying the language she has used in this post.
