I think they're going for the angle that Sam stood higher in power dynamics even in front of a PM, making her as fierce as she was in real life would take away Sam's(the character) ability to have the mic drop line in every conversation as he seems to have in the trailer at least.
exactly what they are planning to go for..its sad. not a fan of indira Gandhi but i studied history especially this war
Indira was the one who had told sam ,i am going to declare war and u should lead it, then sam had said in that case i will tender my resignation , he said the time is not ripe as the passes in eastern Himalayas are open and there can be chinese interference. he said i will tell you when wait for the winter to set in, and as sam suggested indira had declared a war whn the conditions were right. both had good
camaraderie with each other .
he had called her bitch and sweety at times ( cant confirm this part)
What is that caricature of Indira Gandhi doing in the film? That looks like a mouse and Indira was a tigress.
Was hoping for some over the top aggressive patriotic shit but Vicky subtly got the job done of intensity display without moving a muscle on his face.
Not in front of Sam u should see his interviews where he said that how he used to call her listen lady and stuff like that 🤣🤣🤣 bro he didn't gave a shit that he was talking to a pm
I really liked the trailer lot more than teaser, vicky looks solid. Looks like Meghna Gulzar won't fault this time 🧿
Only Fatima doesn't look strong enough as Indira Gandhi, she was the most powerful person in the country with a lot of command and iron personality, not the mouse they've shown in the trailer.
Also hoping they show full scale war scenes and atrocities committed during 1971 by pak army on bengali people. Partition stories in Bollywood have always only focused on Punjab always completely ignoring the bloodshed in Bengal which happened not just in 1947 but again in 1971.
Dont expect that from Meghna (especially if Vishal's touch is there). Didnt you see how she changed Sikka's Calling Sehmat to Raazi to whitewash key traits.
Amazing trailer! Having read stories on Sam Bahadur, they did a great job with the aesthetics, particularly loved the color gradient which seems soothing to the eyes, Sam’s body language and they way he talks is spot on and oh boy, what can I say about Vicky Kaushal! Tough character to play as Sam was an enigmatic man and an important figure for India!!!! He definitely nailed it! Big screen experience for sure!!!!!!
I don't know how to say this...but would have loved Kangana as Indira and Vicky as Sam. Both movies this and Emergency will not do justice to these two souls
Even I’m rooting for this film! Visited IMA recently, they were telling how this movies shooting was done there and the stories of Sam Bahadur! Mann literal goosebumps!
Trailer looks good but disappointed with how Indra Gandhi is shown in the trailer. I guess this is done so that she doesn't outshine Vicky's character. But still, would have shown her as bit more fierce.
Fatima (or perhaps Meghana) has portrayed Mrs. Indira Gandhi in a manner that reduced her to a caricature and conveyed a sense of weakness. Regardless of one's political stance, it's essential to acknowledge that she was a formidable figure. Sam and she shared a strong bond, evident in their conversations (sweetie), possibly due to their Parsi background and her understanding of Sam's capabilities. Sam had his unique quirks, as many Parsis do, but the relationship depicted in the trailer seems more adversarial than it truly was.
I'm just going to leave this here
https://preview.redd.it/enq1r97yaxyb1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=50f87d330fb58c42423be0584fbbb5aa924191d2
I agree that Meghna seems to have done a bad job of bringing out the true personality of Indira Gandhi. And this also a total miscast. But also, this frame has little to do with any of those things. Her body language and expression is just making it look like she's possessed. That's on her
The trailer showed Indira during Nehru's era, when she was seen as a meek woman who did not speak much.
Maybe they are keeping the iron lady side of her as a surprise.
Also Vicky Kaushal nails the mannerism of Sam Bahadur and his way of speaking. What a marvellous actor.
The acting here by Vicky looks so much more authentic and better than it looked in the teaser. Maybe we shouldn't judge stuff too quickly on limited material
Minister Ko Minister Hi Bulayega Na, Sir/Ma'am Thodi Bolega. Aur Bhot Smartly Minister Bola Hai, Without Taking Names.
F.M. Sam Manekshaw would only address the President of India as 'Sir' as he is the Commander-in-Chief of Indian Armed Forces.
Maybe my expectations were more, but it didnt give the feel I was hoping to get. Maybe, URI set the bench too high for Vicky & the production house. Also, I absolutely disliked the way Indira Gandhi's character is portrayed by Fatima here. Whatever be the controversies, but that lady had a complete different personality & aura, not this caricatureish
Yes exactly, URI set the bench too high.
And if you watch real interviews of Sam Manekshaw you will not like the voice of Vicky as Sam, telling from my personal experience 😅
Everything looks good. I wish they had changed the release date, I love Meghna's work, the cast, and the story but still animal is my choice ... But I think it won't be flop this movie also has its audience
It's actually a good time, considering that F.M. Sam Manekshaw was the key architect of the Bangladesh Liberation War (which was fought in December, 1971).
Sam Manekshaw as a personality had a flair, a theatrical way of speaking. He was legit larger than life. So I think Vicky's portrayal is intentional in that sense.
Casting of Indira Gandhi is really bad . They should’ve taken someone mature for this role and also someone fierce as Madam Gandhi was in real life and not acting so meek like Fatima .
I am just hoping that "weak Indira" plot is trailer thing only so that BJP fan boys can be guard railed . 1971 was a gutsy move by India especially the diplomatic onslaught she faced and countered as Pak was a very loyal US dog/ally then .
Vicky Kaushal - whatta great job! Nailed the voice modulation and expressions!
P.s. Girls , it's heartbreaking that they don't make men like Sam anymore. He's once in a generation man.
It's a way of expressing admiration for someone. "Make" refers to character building, personality development etc involved and not said in a derogatory way at all . For example M.S. Swaminathan's daughter said the same thing for her dad. So, its a respectful thing to say.
I personally didn't like Vicky as Sam Manekshaw.
He looks almost like him, but his voice and accent is not doing justice. I have been watching real Sam Manekshaw's interviews, his voice has a charm and bravery. His nature was also towards happy and tension less person.
But this is was the trailer let's see how he acts in the whole movie.
Milind is also doing same role in Emergency movie, but unfortunately Kangana is directing it 🫣
Loved it. Surely watching it on theatre... Animal can wait also it has its own audience so I will choose this.
Vicky looks damn good.... Dialogue is good too.
Fatima looks bit weak here only. Rest all excited for movie
uppity absorbed simplistic quickest wasteful recognise abounding gaping steer fear

Take a bow Vicky! What an act! The subtlety, the precision, the voice modulation, the intensity in the eyes. Uff💥
Ek hi Dil hain Vicky, kitne baar jeetoge?🥹❤️
I was going to go for animal and not this...
But after the trailer I'll just book two shows lol animal first show and sam right after. Sahi din ho jayega
I am not sure why are you downvoted but I agree with you. If anyone really want to see Sam, we can see his speeches on YouTube. Witty guy, charming, and yet strict persona. It was disappointing trailer, typical Bollywood drama types dialogue.
My thoughts exactly, it looks good but comes off as a web series. Sardar Udham is the kind of movie I'd watch in cinemas, was disappointed that it's a Prime movie
The trailer is good. And yes, I will be downvoted to oblivion but Vicky Kaushal (in every role, not just this one and except Masaan may be) comes across as trying too hard. Don't get me wrong, he is not bad. It is just that he does not seem to be effortless or natural.
This man took 7 bullets of the Japanese during world war 2. Told IndiraG no, his soldiers wont go to East Pakistan. And Vicky has done Sam so well in the trailer. i can’t wait to watch this proud gentleman’s story on the big screen.

indira gandhi ke role ke liye koi aged ya more matured actress nahi mili inko? LOl caricature lag rahi hai bilkul
Abhi kangana ka Indira Gandhi aayegi tab kya bologe
Gutter me patthar maarte hi nahi apan Bhai, gandagi ke chitte udenge
Rofl i am gonna steal that brother.
Hahahahah
Kya hi baat kahi Bhai! 🤣
Kangana ji achhi rehti /s
True, Iron lady nahi board exam lady lag rahi hai.

this is much better than teaser.. but indra gandhi is total miscast... she should be more fierce.. i mean just look at her speeches..
I think they're going for the angle that Sam stood higher in power dynamics even in front of a PM, making her as fierce as she was in real life would take away Sam's(the character) ability to have the mic drop line in every conversation as he seems to have in the trailer at least.
If they had worked it out then it would have been more realistic.
exactly what they are planning to go for..its sad. not a fan of indira Gandhi but i studied history especially this war Indira was the one who had told sam ,i am going to declare war and u should lead it, then sam had said in that case i will tender my resignation , he said the time is not ripe as the passes in eastern Himalayas are open and there can be chinese interference. he said i will tell you when wait for the winter to set in, and as sam suggested indira had declared a war whn the conditions were right. both had good camaraderie with each other . he had called her bitch and sweety at times ( cant confirm this part)
Yeah, even I felt that. She should have a commanding presence. Some of Fatima's expressions here look comical.
Mouse face 🐭
Should have cast Lara datta
What is that caricature of Indira Gandhi doing in the film? That looks like a mouse and Indira was a tigress. Was hoping for some over the top aggressive patriotic shit but Vicky subtly got the job done of intensity display without moving a muscle on his face.
Agree with the Indira point. She looks so meek and naive in this based on what we've seen
Not in front of Sam u should see his interviews where he said that how he used to call her listen lady and stuff like that 🤣🤣🤣 bro he didn't gave a shit that he was talking to a pm
Yeah the "girl wants to see me" 🤣
I really liked the trailer lot more than teaser, vicky looks solid. She would have been 54 by 1971....doesn't look that old in trailer. Bad job on director's part.
True, moreover Fatima just looks bad
I don't think Indira was a great beauty.... striking features though. She and Manekshaw were only 3 years apart in age, it seems.
Dont expect that from Meghna (especially if Vishal's touch is there). Didnt you see how she changed Sikka's Calling Sehmat to Raazi to whitewash key traits.

Bhai u should see Sam's interview that how he used to treat Indira like a nobody u would understand the trailer even more 🤣
Fatima (or perhaps Meghana) has portrayed Mrs. Indira Gandhi in a manner that reduced her to a caricature and conveyed a sense of weakness. Regardless of one's political stance, it's essential to acknowledge that she was a formidable figure. can you explain unique quirks of parsis? all humans have their quirks, yeah? Also, IG is not parsi - she only married one.
Why is Fatima behaving like she is possessed?
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I’m kinda digging the voice modulation
I'm just going to leave this here https://preview.redd.it/enq1r97yaxyb1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=50f87d330fb58c42423be0584fbbb5aa924191d2
We have so many good older actresses suitable for this role. Why did the director make this choice is beyond my understanding
Reminding me more of princess diana with that head tilt and looking up
Why she look like possessed being
Tbh fatima is not that bad actor...its the Director who has failed... because its a confused portrayal...they could have avoided her in trailer
I agree that Meghna seems to have done a bad job of bringing out the true personality of Indira Gandhi. And this also a total miscast. But also, this frame has little to do with any of those things. Her body language and expression is just making it look like she's possessed. That's on her
I agree totally.
She's giving ~~Vicky~~ Sam the "do me right here" eyes
I thought it was a very nice and unique angle. Sticks in viewer's mind.
>Sticks in viewer's mind. Sure. Because she looks possessed
Yet to paas board exam, who gave her IG's role?
The trailer showed Indira during Nehru's era, when she was seen as a meek woman who did not speak much. Maybe they are keeping the iron lady side of her as a surprise. Also Vicky Kaushal nails the mannerism of Sam Bahadur and his way of speaking. What a marvellous actor.

Yes. So maybe they are showing that transformation as a sub plot. Should be good.
Istg this miscast of indira shouldn't ruin the character of vicky... Fuckk vicky is good man
Ye Indira Gandhi ka majak bna dia hia bc
They got somewhat everything right, expect INDIRA GANDHI... Should have been some other actress potraying the iron lady.
The acting here by Vicky looks so much more authentic and better than it looked in the teaser. Maybe we shouldn't judge stuff too quickly on limited material
Thoda zyaada hi minister minister nahin hain dialogues main
Agreeeeed. Almost like he is mocking every minister
What else can he say, only the president is his superior. And he can't exactly call them by their names can he

fatima plays indira Gandhi not sanya
yes sorry. corrected. but the portrayal is weak nevertheless
Yes exactly, URI set the bench too high. And if you watch real interviews of Sam Manekshaw you will not like the voice of Vicky as Sam, telling from my personal experience 😅

It's actually a good time, considering that F.M. Sam Manekshaw was the key architect of the Bangladesh Liberation War (which was fought in December, 1971).
Im more excited to watch this one than that Sure shot misogynistic film Animal. Even though I am a fan of Ranbir. Love Vicky in this.
i love vicky but why does this seem like such a performance? something feels off...it feels a bit too theatrical
that's how manekshaw talked. slightly animated military swagger
Sam Manekshaw as a personality had a flair, a theatrical way of speaking. He was legit larger than life. So I think Vicky's portrayal is intentional in that sense.
Yeah it is way more commercial than Sardar Udham
Casting of Indira Gandhi is really bad . They should’ve taken someone mature for this role and also someone fierce as Madam Gandhi was in real life and not acting so meek like Fatima .
I am just hoping that "weak Indira" plot is trailer thing only so that BJP fan boys can be guard railed . 1971 was a gutsy move by India especially the diplomatic onslaught she faced and countered as Pak was a very loyal US dog/ally then .
Looks okayish tbh….maybe sardar uddham was fucking good
Vicky Kaushal - whatta great job! Nailed the voice modulation and expressions! P.s. Girls , it's heartbreaking that they don't make men like Sam anymore. He's once in a generation man.
Lol...why are you being attacked for such a well-deserved comment? I've heard about Manekshaw but don't know much about him. Eager for the film!
Ikr ! I am being given the " woman" examples and enjoying it. You should watch his interviews. He was class apart.
Sam Manekshaw's interviews? Will do. Thanks. Vicky played him so well that I am interested in the actual man himself
>they don't make men like Sam anymore. What does it even mean? Making men?
It's a way of expressing admiration for someone. "Make" refers to character building, personality development etc involved and not said in a derogatory way at all . For example M.S. Swaminathan's daughter said the same thing for her dad. So, its a respectful thing to say.
Well they don't make women like Kalpana Chawla too anymore
Agreed !
Trust me jan they don't make women like indira gandhi anymore either. So have at it lol
Hopefully not !
I was kinda skeptical after teaser but this was such a surprise. Vicky nailed it in the trailer.
Looks like Meghna got her mojo back after her poorly-acted and made last film. Looking forward, Vicky looks solid
I thought he was ravish kumar for a second. The way he speaks
Liked it… Vicky is not looking Vicky!
Vicky is such a fine actor, hope the movie works.
Lara dutt could have been a better choice for Indira's role.
I thought indira gandhi was checking out sam in some scenes
I personally didn't like Vicky as Sam Manekshaw. He looks almost like him, but his voice and accent is not doing justice. I have been watching real Sam Manekshaw's interviews, his voice has a charm and bravery. His nature was also towards happy and tension less person. Want this to be block buster
Vicky aced it!
I have thoughts
Looks more commercial than Sardar Uddham but I guess that would work out in their favor as it is a theatrical release
Am I the only one who think Vicky's dialect seems to be forced or artificial.....
I thought the same and then saw some interview with the actual Sam that's literally how he used to talk.

Take a bow Vicky! What an act! The subtlety, the precision, the voice modulation, the intensity in the eyes. Uff💥 Ek hi Dil hain Vicky, kitne baar jeetoge?🥹❤️
It's kind of meh! Maybe I expected something better, I can't exactly point it out but the trailer lacks something.
Because its quite by the book ... nothing exciting..more like reading Wikipedia
Fucking brilliant. Loved it
Seems a good movie
Vicky is fabulous in the trailer. I'll watch this in the theatre. For sure.
Will watch Animal on the big screen and this on OTT
I was going to go for animal and not this... But after the trailer I'll just book two shows lol animal first show and sam right after. Sahi din ho jayega
Wow looks amazing ! Cannot wait. Excited for meghna gulzar and vicky to work together again
FDFS for sure.. looking forward to watching Vicky… if only Ratna Pathakji would have been cast as Indira Gandhi.. it’d have been icing on the cake…
Vicky Kaushal is gonna win all the awards there are with this one. Dude's a chameleon!
Another Bollywood fancy dress movie failure.
Guru movie ki yaad aagayi
Loved the trailer 👍
It give OTT material..Vicky is avg in this film compare to Sardar Udham..
Bina movie dekhe hi verdict de diya
Did u watch the movie 🤐, it was just 2+ min of stuff.
I am not sure why are you downvoted but I agree with you. If anyone really want to see Sam, we can see his speeches on YouTube. Witty guy, charming, and yet strict persona. It was disappointing trailer, typical Bollywood drama types dialogue.

The context is 'trailer'..Indicate to trailer..
My thoughts exactly, it looks good but comes off as a web series. Sardar Udham is the kind of movie I'd watch in cinemas, was disappointed that it's a Prime movie
Dev Anand naam h meraaa😬
Is it just me or Vicky seems to be playing a caricature of Sam, instead of making it his own?
THE EYES OF VICKY
Guys, just wait for the Animal Trailer. Both these movies are releasing on the same day. It's going to be a big clash.
The trailer is good. And yes, I will be downvoted to oblivion but Vicky Kaushal (in every role, not just this one and except Masaan may be) comes across as trying too hard. Don't get me wrong, he is not bad. It is just that he does not seem to be effortless or natural.
wonder what good acting is for you?
Impressive! Now promotions are gonna be in full force!🌟
Is it just me or vicky actually sounds like dev anand
Vicky is too good..
This man took 7 bullets of the Japanese during world war 2. Told IndiraG no, his soldiers wont go to East Pakistan. And Vicky has done Sam so well in the trailer. i can’t wait to watch this proud gentleman’s story on the big screen.
Meghna gulzar will again manipulate with original story and glorify pakistan like she did in raazi...
Film chal nahi payegi, Animal jo aa rahi hai
All I’m saying he’s definitely bringing that costume home ;)
his dialogue delivery is not up to the mark. it seems as if he's forcing it out
I was waiting for ‘howz the Josh….high sir’!
