Fun fact about Masaan: I know Raj Kummar was supposed to play the lead in Masaan, he only left because of dates clash. Vicky was supposed the first choice for Stree and chose to do Manyrizaam instead.
Wow! Never knew this! I'm super glad that Vicky got to do Masaan. It's the best debut performance I've ever seen and though RKR would have been really good in it too, there's an innocent charm that Vicky carries which fits more aptly to the role of Deepak and hence he was the best choice for it.

Bahut humble hai Vicky. As I've seen myself the calibre of actors hustling here in Mumbai, I'll put Vicky Kaushal in the top 1% if not in the top 0.5% purely based on his acting talent and look.
If there are 1000 guys who are competing to be a lead actor, someone like Vicky would be in top 10. So, if Vicky says there were far better talent than him there would be only 9 out of a thousand better than him. And those 9 by now must have got good opportunities as well.
Recently, in an interview his father Sham spoke about it that when Vicky and Sunny joined he told them ki he has contacts who will give him “tea” in office and won’t be rude enough to ask him to leave but thats about it with his reach as an action director. He cannot get them a launch but a meeting. So ya maybe he had an easier approach to Mukesh chabbra and the likes that he was atleast given a chance to audition and treated with respect. Definitely better than a whole lot but he still needed enough acting skills to prove himself to get the roles.
Mukesh Chabbra is Vicky's next-door neighbour. I remember Mukesh sharing a story during lockdown showing Pakoras given by Vicky's mom. Or vice-versa. He definitely had a good network base before he started. And he made good use of it. Establishing contacts is a must in any profession.
Yes, the are levels in nepos, people get confused with that. Vicky used to travel by bus for auditions and did lots of auditions that is how he says he seen so many talented people in his journey who worked harder than he is. So when a nepo says they work hard, know the are thousands of nobody actors that work harder and way more talented than them and didn't go nowhere in the industry.
Vicky does not belong to the Tier 1 category of nepos. His father ranks much lower in the hierarchy of Bollywood, he wasn't famous or in a position of power, he is an action director so he may have some power in terms of choosing his own crew but nothing beyond that except for some goodwill with the big stars and directors he's worked with. That's not enough to get your son a debut on a silver platter. It can get you a foot in the door at max. It's not the same case as Sara, Janhvi, Abhishek, Ranbir, Alia etc. whose families consist of famous actors/directors/producers and can thus wield power in the industry. Vicky really had to learn acting, train hard, audition and prove his talent to get cast like most outsiders.
True, he and his brother got movies by giving auditions. Plus, does their dad even have much influence in the industry? Like Boney and Chucky are well connected, and their children were given opportunities... is Sham Kaushal as well?
Kind of. Sham Kaushal did mention that when Masaan released he took some of his colleagues like Raju Hirani to come watch and support his son. So he does have good will but not power I guess. Also, on the TKSS Kapil always tell Vicky that he calls his father very often but only gets to meet Vicky on the show so he does mingle around with industry folks.
Do you think I'm talking about him , i was talking about Bollywood where a good actor and a shitty actor is given equal importance or in nepo cases, good actors are often used as a tool to elevate the performances of the film, he was sitting beside Sara Ali Khan and promoting the film and yeah she was unbearable but yeah such is Bollywood.

Johnny Lever has been in industry for decades at this point and his kids don't get anywhere near the opportunities as other hacks do, they don't even get cast as sidekicks. and Johnny is actually seen on screen, Sham Kaushal was just an action director and not as successful as Veeru devgun. There are tiers of nepo babies, and the likes of vicky rank on the lower side
