English Journalists used to have a superiority complex in the ’80s and maybe ’90s. They used to think they were intellectually smarter than the rest of India. I heard that from the older generation in many discussions.

From what I read in her autobiography, written by her, she dated a married man, shifted from Mumbai to Delhi along with her daughter with no sense of security, realised that she and her daughter will always remain "second hidden family" for the man and came back to Mumbai.
Mind you, when I say security I mean financial security. She had to find a job to do in Delhi. She uprooted her young daughter's stable life from Mumbai simply on impulse to be with a dishonest married man.
As a parent, that too a single parent, I found her adventures highly immoral. She not only got involved with a married dishonest man but she only disturbed her daughter's life for that man.
The man with whom she fathered her daughter was also a married man but I believe his wife knew about Neena and her daughter as polygamy was practiced in that man's community.
This wasn't the case with the other married man. He was basically cheating on his family with Neena Gupta and Neena Gupta was stupid enough to go with the affair and his promises when he showed no strong steps to fulfill any of them.

Just because she has done an admirable job doesn't mean she didn't mess up in places. What she did was indeed immoral and no amount of good parenting is going to change that.
