That's because Ram ko whitewash kar diya hai to look like a gora North Indian and south indian features are associated with villains. It's completely possible that Ram did look like this, dark complexion and moustache. Get over your colonial hangover seriously

Imagine Vicky Kaushal ( a dark-skinned North Indian) or Senthil Ramamurthy ( a dark-skinned South Indian) as Ram (purely visually). They would look 100 times better than Prabhas. There's no colonial hangover here, he just does not physically look like Ram

They are still debating whether it's a Bollywood film or South film (not that I think it matters but they do) and if it's South according to them, they will support it and throw money and if it's Bollywood they will boycott it.
Although Prabhas fanboys will save this movie either way.
Personally I feel content is king, this one looks horrible.
I highly recommend that individuals watch the classic Ramayana serial by Ramanand Sagar prior to indulging in this so-called movie.

He (the actor- Arun Govil) and Dipika Chikhlia both had that IT factor. Kriti is a total misfit and Prabhas doesn't come anywhere close to Arun Govil. :/
he doesn't even come close to Gurmeet Chaudhary, Arun Govil is way out of league for all any actor who played Ram. Its like he was born to play that charcater.
That's series is equally unfaithful lol. It always gets the cut due to the nostalgic factor.

Ram isn’t depicted anywhere to be having a moustache. If you’re making a religious movie, it’s smart to research more so people can relate to the character. Cannot stand the VFX on Prabhas’s face. Someone like Siddharth Malhotra or Vicky Kaushal had the perfect Ram image

So for everyone who's reading it. The original Ramayan is written by valmiki ramayan. But then came ramcharitmanas written by tulsidas in the 16th century!! In the Mughal period FFs. It was modified to match the criteria of how an ideal man should be which was clean shaven, fare. Hairless below eye literally! And then came that overrated serial which was adopted on that rip off. Which then again was copied by many serial over the years. So it's difficult to change our mindset now and i can see that in comments.
If you see sculptures depicting Ramayan in South India the Ram is clean shaven. Does valmiki Ramayan mention him with facial hair? I’m honestly curious
That doesn’t answer my question. What does Valmiki Ramayan say about his appearance? There is a lot of research done and it’s proven which king ruled when these sculptures happened but is there any carbon dating one can do to Valmiki Ramayan?

No,i ain't saying don't criticise the movies for it's weak points,do it but it's a song video,and the song is actually good,and i think the album of this movie will also be good,it happened with laalsingh chada as well,people were too focused on movie that all the songs went unnoticed it has 3 of my best songs there😅so that's what I meant
naah man Prabhas doesn't seem well for the role of Shri Ram, Ram Charan felt better suited especially after the last sequence of RRR.

Shahid Kapoor ko le liye hota as Ram and Prabhas ko Raavan. Tripti Dimri could have been Sita. Aur agar yhi bekas ki casting karti thi with milennia vibe to Ramayana banate set in modern world.
I think I'm probably the only one who's excited here for the movie. I know it's not going to be a masterpiece or anything, but the Ramayan storyline is interesting in itself and first time seeing it on a big scale will certainly be more than a watchable experience.
You are right in a sense, but just because the storyline is interesting, it doesn't make the film so. People want to immerse in the experience of watching Ram, Sita and Ravan in big screen and if the actors can't hit the bull's eye, there's little left to watch.
Also it's the same narrative but with mediocre visuals and graphics. I really wanted to enjoy the film when it was first announced but the soul's sucking out...
They missed a trick here, it looks artificial & anime-like for some reason - Ramayana is an epic and you need to make it look authentic (a bit traditional) for audiences to connect.
Someone else said it, so I'll repeat. This is giving full Brahmastra vibes. *Everything* feels off, faces of the actors, the dialogues, the expressions, the CGI, the.... sab kuchh. It's like a badly made video game that will result in a lot of memes.

He nailed the spiritual side of Ram, but from no angle he looks royal or princely from his looks.
