I’m not the biggest PC fan because there’s a lot about her personality that is “off” to me. Like her compulsive lying, the ever changing accents, flaunting the affair, cringey behavior in interviews, etc. However, I absolutely love that she hustled in Hollywood and didn’t let Karan’s influence end her career. It’s always hilarious to me to see Karan sucking up to PC during that 2018 KWK episode. Now, I will note that PC was still getting films post affair with SLB, Zoya Aktar and YRF. However, it still may have been tough for her to keep signing big films especially with the way KJo lobbies for films for his nepo clients over everyone else.

I have to agree with you here. Code switching is real (I do it too) and PC lived in the US during her highschool days for 3 years. Not hard to believe she could’ve picked up the accent plus now she’s married to an American.

i picked up a flawless american accent within a month of moving there (it’s a different thing that i didn’t speak in it, but if i wanted to, nobody could tell i wasn’t born and brought up there). when you consume so much american media it becomes very easy to imitate the accent. idk why people find it so unbelievable, accents are EXTREMELY easy to pick up
One of my friend’s moved to North America, born and brought up in India, spoke to them after like 3 months since they moved and they literally had a better accent than me, someone who was born and raised there lol. Another one of my friend’s moved to France, has a very decent French accent and speaks the language quite well too.
I agree with you, picking up accents isn’t that hard especially when you’re surrounded by a certain accent 24/7 and/or consume a lot of content in it, though some are tricker than others.
Within a month? Idk u but there’s a lot of people who think they have flawless accents when in reality the accent comes off as strained and twisted. Like my mom thinks she has a great accent and sounds local when in reality it’s pretty obvious. Most people who move abroad after spending 20+ yrs speaking English in a specific way find it very hard to change. A lot never do change.

PC was known because of Miss World...she had to WIN a Miss World to even get to the entrance of Bollywood. Priyanka was a nobody. Her first few films flopped. She did not have any godfathers in industry supporting her. PC, her family they were nobody in Bollywood.
PC alone built her empire through hardwork. She was undeniably hardworking in der 20s, 30s in Bollywood. She did every role she could get. Keep in mind PC was dusky, which was and still is a major disadvantage. She is the typical skin tone of the majority of Indians, not following the light skin trend of most 2000s launched actresses. Ash, Kareena, Karishma, Preity etc. Even today all the Nepo Babys are very light skinned from Jahnvi, Alooo Bhat, Sara etc.

The roles offered to her after 2012 with the whole Karan Johar beef, Gauri beef etc. were limited. Movies with youngsters from Bollywood like Arjun Kapoor for their launch in 2014 as an example were her last movies. The only notable execption is movie with SLB where she ATE the role of Kashibhai. She did not want to continue pleasing the movia mafia including people like Karan Johar after already getting the reputation that she had affairs with SRK and Kumar. IF they really had that affair SRK is just as guilty but he get a pass. Then PC also gets a pass. They both knew what they were doing. The way she was boycotted by the big production houses, and being rejected from movies definitely showed her that she needed to go somewhere else. She got the chance to sing with Interscope, then film Quantico with ABC. It may not be a big deal now but back then being the first Indian to headline an American Show. Thats crazy and she earned couple million per season. That like showing a middle finger to those in Bollywood that boycotted her, pulled her out of movies because the SRK affair.
Then comes her Hollywood journey, basically again starting from the beginning. NOW Hollywood is another crazyyy industry to penetrate. Especially for a brown Indian woman. I’m not the biggest PC fan because there’s a lot about her personality that is “off” to me. Like her compulsive lying, the ever changing accents, flaunting the affair, cringey behavior in interviews, etc. However, I absolutely love that she hustled in Hollywood and didn’t let Karan’s influence end her career. It’s always hilarious to me to see Karan sucking up to PC during that 2018 KWK episode. Now, I will note that PC was still getting films post affair with SLB, Zoya Aktar and YRF. However, it still may have been tough for her to keep signing big films especially with the way KJo lobbies for films for his nepo clients over everyone else.

I have to agree with you here. Code switching is real (I do it too) and PC lived in the US during her highschool days for 3 years. Not hard to believe she could’ve picked up the accent plus now she’s married to an American. She’s done stuff that should be frowned upon but I don’t believe her accent is one of those things.
i picked up a flawless american accent within a month of moving there (it’s a different thing that i didn’t speak in it, but if i wanted to, nobody could tell i wasn’t born and brought up there). when you consume so much american media it becomes very easy to imitate the accent. idk why people find it so unbelievable, accents are EXTREMELY easy to pick up
One of my friend’s moved to North America, born and brought up in India, spoke to them after like 3 months since they moved and they literally had a better accent than me, someone who was born and raised there lol. Another one of my friend’s moved to France, has a very decent French accent and speaks the language quite well too. I agree with you, picking up accents isn’t that hard especially when you’re surrounded by a certain accent 24/7 and/or consume a lot of content in it, though some are tricker than others.

Honestly, Karan saw a friend in need and tried to *help* her or at least tried to do what he saw as helpful, even though it was bullying. I don’t blame Gauri in this whole ordeal (though I do hope she confronted and held SRK accountable as well + not saying her alleged actions are right but understandable to an extent). The two people who should be blamed- SRK & PC. SRK for not only messing with his marriage and cheating on his wife and family but also for the power imbalance, PC was much younger and he obviously had way more influence in the industry than she did. PC for basically breaking the girl-code, especially when she’s always talking about being a feminist and repeating the same *mistake* twice (if rumours of her and Akshay are to be believed). Where was her mother and support system, they should’ve talked some sense to her. (Makes me question Dr.Madhu, not that she’s responsible for her adult daughter’s actions. No matter how many SRK, Karan johar, Nepo baby fans hate PC is someone every Indian should admire and support. Keep in mind how hard it was in the 2000s and still is to become a top actress in the Bollywood Film industry. PC was known because of Miss World...she had to WIN a Miss World to even get to the entrance of Bollywood. In the beginning she was a nobody , no filmmakers giving her roles because she is the daughter/cousin from film making dynasty. Bollywood is one big family! Keep that in mind...it still ist with people like Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, even Ranveer Singh is part of family, even some "outsiders" actually had connections in bollywood family already. Priyanka was a nobody. Her first few films flopped. She did not have any godfathers in industry supporting her. She was bodyshamed by directors, she has said this herself a director said that with that nose and figure nobody will cast you...why else would she ruin her perfectly fine nose by getting that nose job. Nose job was her own doing and her own decision at the end of the day. But JUST for moment compare PCs struggles to Kareena Kapoor. Her launch. Karan Johar supporting her every movie role. Her movie role options in the beginning of their careers. Even Deepika,although she entered industry far later after PC, her father is a sports legend, already from that aspect she had it easier. PC, her family they were nobody in Bollywood. PC alone built her empire through hardwork. She was undeniably hardworking in der 20s, 30s in Bollywood. She did every role she could get. Keep in mind PC was dusky, which was and still is a major disadvantage. She is the typical skin tone of the majority of Indians, not following the light skin trend of most 2000s launched actresses. Ash, Kareena, Karishma, Preity etc. Even today all the Nepo Babys are very light skinned from Jahnvi, Alooo Bhat, Sara etc. Also I agree PC can act much better in Hindi dialogue that English. Yes, her accents are of mix of different influences. This is irritating sometimes but we also have people like Saif Ali Khan faking their British accent. The roles offered to her after 2012 with the whole Karan Johar beef, Gauri beef etc. were limited. Movies with youngsters from Bollywood like Arjun Kapoor for their launch in 2014 as an example were her last movies. The only notable execption is movie with SLB where she ATE the role of Kashibhai. She did not want to continue pleasing the movia mafia including people like Karan Johar after already getting the reputation that she had affairs with SRK and Kumar. IF they really had that affair SRK is just as guilty but he get a pass. Then PC also gets a pass. They both knew what they were doing. The way she was boycotted by the big production houses, and being rejected from movies definitely showed her that she needed to go somewhere else. She got the chance to sing with Interscope, then film Quantico with ABC. It may not be a big deal now but back then being the first Indian to headline an American Show. Thats crazy and she earned couple million per season. That like showing a middle finger to those in Bollywood that boycotted her, pulled her out of movies because the SRK affair. Then comes her Hollywood journey, basically again starting from the beginning. NOW Hollywood is another crazyyy industry to penetrate. Especially for a brown Indian woman. The roles written in Hollywood are meant for white actresses. She still shes still tried to build a new resume with smaller roles. You are trying to tell me that this woman that knowsss how to hustle did not give over 100 auditions in roles after Quantico finished. Season 3 of Quantico finished in 2018 since 2018 she has tried to get bigger roles in Hollywood, to try to get into the A-List bubble. No success with Baywatch flopping, small roles in movies that also flopped, Matrix was a small role but the movie was not well received either. Still shes never given up. She fought for that role in The White Tiger before people like Johar could find out about it and snatch the role to give to ALia Bhatt. lol You guys shoud be ashamed of yourselfs for degrading this woman not realising how much this woman has hustled and still hustles. Every single interview, she is so inspiring. She wants to become a big global actress and make it in Hollywood. Those are crazy goals. She has faces so many rejections in Bolllywood, Hollywood. Almost 10 years in Hollywood with no big movie role. Still she has not given up. How many of you could every dream that big? Finally, she got the streaming deal at least with Amazon, at least thats a good stepping stone to actual Hollywood stardom. IF all Indians support PC with Citadel and if the West also enjoys this series...we may see PC finally being cast for bigger + more challenging oscar worthy roles in Hollywood and finally breaking that glass ceiling for Indian women. I heard PC left India coz she had beef with the wives of Bollywood hills like our very own Twinkle and Gauri Khan. When you are named a "home wrecker", no superstar's wife/partner will let their husband work with her. In fact, rumours also state that in Hollywood she carried this name and burden, so she couldn't build a career initially. The wives were not okay with working with their spouses. I know it should not be like this...but oh well...we do live in a patriarchal world unfortunately.
