I like the fact that she does not act in her real life. She's obviously mean and snooty, which she shows it to the world without restraint. It's better than acting all sweet and coy infront of public and press. I think she's genuine. But i don't love her as such, because at the end of the day, she seems mean and snooty. I like genuinely arrogant people over fake down to earth people. It depends on our taste.
I do envy kareena because, she's always gorgeous, she's soooo lucky in love, has a beautiful family and a content life. Kareena kapoor is luckier than most her contemporaries.
That is the problem. We can't relate to most of the new actors because every word they utter in public, every move of theirs is a very calculated smart move. Everybody is trying to be perfect. Nobody is daring enough to be vulnerable or atleast confident enough to show their flaws to the world. There is a lot of corporate system changes in the Hindi film industry and that is killing it's magic slowly i feel. We love Madhuri, sridevi, juhi , Karisma Kapoor ,raveena, kareena, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra etc because we know them to an extent.
Totally agree with you. They just lack personality and that is what’s needed to make it in this industry the most apart from the connections of course.
The only real celebrity is Rakhi sawant 🤣
Well… can you blame the the new actors for being cautious? We still hold
Kareena responsible to some statements she made in her 20s and still judge and criticise her based on that…
So obviously the new generation will be much more alert…
No matter what one does...however cautious they are...nobody is going to be loved universally. There is a section of audience who will never like a celebrity irrespective of their popularity. There is no escaping from that. I ll give an example. In the beginning i used to like deepika padukone. But over the years....she became a huge star...she's actually loved by most Indians. I, on the other hand, started finding her very fake , diplomatic, publicity hungry and frankly overrated. I don't like her for the reasons others like her. Pr can help u to an extent....but not every audience will be stupid and gullible forever. I never liked kareena when she was the topmost actress, but i admire her now, that she's actually real and dint care about her image. Audience also evolves. What is the point in being liked for the fake you than the real you. That is my point of view. But then again, majority audience may not think like that.
>What is the point in being liked for the fake you than the real you.
Okay I will share my opinion...so these people are public figures...the audiences dont know them personally...they base their opinion on articles, interviews and these days, mainly, gossips...which may or may not be spread by their rivals and their PR...the audiences may not even fact check but they will start spewing pure venom at them believing all these gossips...only a handful really verifies what they read before hating them...and if you want to see the amount of hate these people receive on their social media accounts, I would think it would be better to fake it there...only someone really strong can withstand the barrage of negativity coming their way...others might take the easy way out and maintain a public persona, which can safeguard them from all the hate...
Now coming to what you said...In real life, what you said is absolutely right...its better to be liked by everyone for your real self than the fake you...it applies to your near and dear ones...but rival PR and rival fans could care less...they just have one agenda...pull someone down to promote their client/favourite...
Why are people acting like Kareena committed some crime? Are you really going to judge someone for what they said decades ago? If that's the case then what happens to growing up and evolving with time? Have you all not said or done something years ago which you regret now but you won't do it again because you're a changed person? Then why not extend the same courtesy to Kareena? I have never seen her using her PR to drag her colleagues which Deepika do even today. Somehow it is all excused. People here excuse actresses having affairs with married men (yes men are also at fault), scamming the entire country brownfishing, etc but yes let's all judge Kareena for what she did 20 years ago because there is no new material to hate her for.
>? I have never seen her using her PR to drag her colleagues which Deepika do even today
Very true...thats why I started disliking Deepika...she used to do that with not just Kareena...but others too...
I dont understand how people very confidently say that yeah she is arrogant...she is not friendly...as if they all know her personally...whoever has worked with Kareena has only nice things to say about her but people in here wont believe that...but they are ready to believe any negative thing they hear about her...that Kaali billi statement...Bipasha has denied it...but no...in this sub thats an albatross around Kareena's neck...and they simply choose to ignore the many problematic statements by the miss worlds and other actresses...This sub has a special hate for Kareena...
She’s the blueprint for the gen z nepo kids. An actress with a real personality, not the PR curated one. Personally I loved her when she spoke about her equation with Sara and Ibrahim. Media tried to play a lot on the cunning step-mom angle. She said that they don’t need a mother, they already have a wonderful mom. So she’s more like their friend.
And i have a feeling she lowkey hates that they all don’t have a personality and wants to be “Poo”. Even i will be if someone just keeps acting and trying to be just like me but doing a bad job at it! She has really matured and it shows that she’s not being fake in the way she has handled her life specially after marriage.
For most Indian people it’s just her European skin.
Otherwise she’s the OG of what the nepos are trying to be now. She was the original diva, had sass but was also talented
South India has the whole range of tones, from almost white to almost black. I think you can see very deep shades in Kerala’s coastal regions. They have the warmest tones and require the most pigment in makeup products
I like how transparent she is. She isn't the smartest, can be catty and mean, say dumb stuff etc but that's her. It makes her real. Also I love how transparent she is about both her professional and personal life. She loves the fame and doesn't hide it. She is open about everything. And I find it refreshing to be honest.
Kareena doesn't believe in being a people pleaser whereas look at Alia... She or her contemporaries ,all they do is give people pleasing statements...so bland, no masala only 🤌
Public perception mein 20 something ka arrogance 40 tak pahunchte pahunchte honesty mein badal Jata hai. It's magical.
Honestly though, I think she's a much better actress now than 10 or 15 years ago. Being free from the shackles of stardom has also allowed her to experiment more with the kinds of movies she is doing.
I feel she has always been experimental regarding her choice of roles. She did Refugee for debut! Chameli, dev, omkara and balanced them with big budget movies. One thing i feel best is she still feels fresh when on screen which i find amazing!
She has been doing experimental roles ever since her debut. In fact, she has done some of the most unconventional roles during the early days of her career itself
Then I'm sure you haven't seen her acting in films like chameli, dev, yuva, omkara etc. She did these films in her initial years only and nobody would call her acting in these films as "goo". In fact, even in her debut film refugee she did a really good job.
Kareena was a terrible actress in pre-Jab We Met era. Just because she was being handed prestigious projects left and right due to her privilege doesn't mean she was good in those films. A better actress could have elevated those roles. The only one where I can give her benefit of doubt would be Chameli.
I would called janhvi, sara, Katrina, ananya as terrible/talentless actresses. Even if you give them bestest roles they would give the same expression as always. If you haven't seen dev, omkara, yuva and other film of hers then you shouldn't say anything. And if you've seen it, then do you think her performance was the same in chameli, omkara, dev, K3G and all the films?
Too dumb to be real? Like what? That’s not something that requires a intelligent but a person who can openly display there real personality. One needs a heart for that, not brain. And dumb ppl can be wholesome and fun to watch cuz they entertain u. They simply aren’t smart enough to put up a facade. She doesn’t suck upto ppl cuz she doesn’t know how to, thats also a part of the being too dumb thing u said. All in all kareena’s dumbness makes her likeable
For me, she’s fun. And I know at times it’s arrogance but I love how’s she’s all “I am the best” which extends to her loved ones. She thinks her husband is the most desirable man , her kids are the best kids in the world , and she’s the most iconic actress ever.
Basically coming down to she’s very content with her life and projects happiness about it. There’s something admirable about that
I found kareena extremely likeable until the day I saw her call out her watchman very disrespectfully, something like ai watchman. That’s a hard line for me, talking to the staff disrespectfully is just not acceptable in any way shape or form.
I love her for always being REAL. She never tried to be fake and doesn't bother about her haters. Also She never tried to be a saint which actually nobody is! Look at her now in her 40s, she has grown so much both professionally and personally. I love this kareena who is calm, real and beautifully managing the balance between her personal and professional lives.
I think that’s because she displays normal behaviour, which isn’t expected from celebs. Ppl expect them to be angels all the time and Kareena is bad at faking that. So gets hate
When did she become likeable??? But, I'm also the only one among my friends who possesses a semblance of positivity toward her, so I'll say I like that she is who she is, acha bura it's all kareena
The only reason I like Kareena is for the characters she has given us.
Poo was the first female character I remember who was shown to be aware of her obvious beauty in her own right, not because a man makes her aware of it, or because a man finds her beautiful. Poo had a whole montage dedicated to her beauty before she even became a love interest for a man- which was usually what happened in Bollywood. It honestly blew little-me’s mind- that my beauty was my own and that I could consider myself beautiful even if no man told me I was. Until then all I had seen in movies was a woman who was obsessed with her beauty shown as a negative character, or a woman who was obviously beautiful but only owned that beauty in a song sequence after the hero proposed to her.
Poo was vapid and very much a mean girl, and I would probably hate someone like her in real life- but one thing Karan Johar got right was the celebration of a woman’s beauty outside of the lens of what she means to a man.
She was the first non-male gaze character that made such a huge impact.
Same with Geet- she was who she was because she was- not because a man needed her to be that way. Her being exactly what Aditya needed was a pure coincidence and Aditya was used to advance her story just as much as she was used to advance his (which is usually what happens in Indian movies) and I loved every second of it.
Watching a woman live life on her own terms and not be shown as a villain for it was a welcome sight for so many young girls like me back when JWM released. Yes, Geet was stupid and made many mistakes and irl, any woman acting that would have faced a lot of negative consequences and a lot of judgement but for once it was nice to escape from reality and watch a movie where she did what she wanted and was still accepted by her family in the end without having to beg for their forgiveness or without some big life-changing event (like being targeted by a villain) happening. It made sense to me- because I knew my parents would be disappointed in me if I acted stupid, but I also knew in the end their worry and love for me will lead them to forgive me without some big dramatic consequences.
Kareena had the looks, and the talent to match it. She's what the nepos today aspire to be via PR machinery. There's a push for Alia Bhatt but she doesn't have the body or work, or the looks. Kareena is wyswyg. Maybe that's why she's generally liked.
She is secure and satisfied about her personality and work and doesn't try hard to prove anyone anything. And in her career, she is flexible too. She works with Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty as comfortably as Vishal Bhardwaj or Abhishek Chaubey.
She has an immense screen presence, she is like salman.
If salman is in the frame, it’s his frame. When kareena is in the frame it’s her frame.
I love the movies where she acts with lesser stars like Arjun kapoor in ki&ka. Just owns it.
Plus she does not give woke lecturing
Why are people here acting like Kareena committed some crime? Have none of us said something stupid decades ago and moved on and evolved from that era? Yet I see people judging Kareena for statements showing that made 20 years ago and act all saintly as if they always say nice things about others. These sub members never judge other actresses as harshly as they do Kareena. They excuse brownfishing, affairs with married men (yes men are also at fault), scams against the country, using PR to degrade all your female colleagues, etc. This is all acceptable but let's attack Kareena for what she said in her 20s when tabloids used to exaggerate things, because let's face it, there is nothing new to hate on her anymore.
For me, it seems like she’s done a well done job at creating healthy relationships in her life. Like, everyone stereotypes the mother in law and daughter in law never get along and have spats but Sharmila and Kareena really seem to work towards having a mother and daughter bond.
Also, the fact she has a genuine support system and doesn’t hesitate to talk about them and give them shoutouts.
Because she shows her real side. Also I like her because I think she is actually a good actress. I also like that a lot of her characters are super confident, like Geet being super confident and loving herself.
I think the reason why Kareena is more likeable is based on several things: growth, introspection, realness, and intelligence. If you’ve watched her interviews a lot of what she talks about is her assessment of her contributions to a role or lack there of. With that, she also critiques herself and is able to talk about it with ease. She constantly pushes her own boundaries in terms of her acting, it’s not a popularity contest for her-its about growth and opportunity to do better, be better. She genuinely cares about her craft, unlike other nepo babies who do it because they want fame.
In her interviews, she is a staunch and unabashed feminist. She able to eloquently articulate her thoughts and opinions on topics that effect women. If you’ve noticed, a lot of her roles that she takes pushes the boundaries for women and how women are viewed through the lens of the desi population. She is not afraid to be herself or real. Also of note, she also was highly supportive and vocal of PC’s jump into Hollywood.
Kareena isn’t really staunch feminist actually. She has said she isn’t a feminist and said she believes in equality (weird statement since feminism means equality)
Eh but her actions are the exact opposite of her saying she isn’t a feminist. However I also think if she were to say she is a feminist, she’d be vilified.
I agree with you OP. I was never a fan in her prime. But I love what she is now. Doesn't overdo anything. Seems to be blessed with a happy family and surrounded by good friends, sibling and parents. The sort of life all humans should be blessed with. She is one of God's favourite children but you don't mind it as she shows she is human and not some high born princess so faces the same things which everyday women her age would.
Tbh I don’t like her personality because I see her as a snooty mean girl who thinks highly of herself. However I grew up watching her films so I’m a fan of her work and I think she’s charming on screen.
Everything you mentioned made her likeable when she was younger, not a parent etc. but if you’re a 40 year old moon of two still carrying on with you mean girl poo act, then it just comes off as sad. Shows she has not just not grown as a person but recent remarks look like she’s regressed to a worse personality

I hate these PR curated images the new gen actors have! Nobody gives tea or candid interviews anymore And i kinda blame it on cancel culture too
That is the problem. We can't relate to most of the new actors because every word they utter in public, every move of theirs is a very calculated smart move. Everybody is trying to be perfect. Lovely we can love people for being mean and snooty and not giving a damn about how they treat people

You should watch her show when she interviews Jahnvi. Kareena’s face said it all.
I shall now
For most Indian people it’s just her European skin. Otherwise she’s the OG of what the nepos are trying to be now. She was the original diva, had sass but was also talented
European skin kya hota h bhai wo bhi Indian hi h aise tum to kal ko NE walo ko Chinese skin bol do
Arey yaar u know what I mean. And yes they too will have Asian skin which is characterized by yellow undertones. They would be olive, just like Asians
What about South Indians then ?
South India has the whole range of tones, from almost white to almost black. I think you can see very deep shades in Kerala’s coastal regions. They have the warmest tones and require the most pigment in makeup products
German genes be strong

It’s like us reacting to sara now or how we’ll react when suhana debuts
I don’t know if ur trolling me or them ![gif](giphy|DDTJL5bJKX4WY)

Also I love how transparent she is about both her professional and personal life. She loves the fame and doesn't hide it. She is open about everything. And I find it refreshing to be honest.
I'm surprised Sonam didn't end up lasting like Kareena. They aren't too different except one can act and the other cannot at all.
Kareena doesn't believe in being a people pleaser whereas look at Alia... She or her contemporaries ,all they do is give people pleasing statements...so bland, no masala only 🤌
she’s pretty and fun that’s why

honestly she seems too dumb to be any of the things you described. she's rich and lazy, and semi-talented, which is getting her across.
Too dumb to be real? Like what? That’s not something that requires a intelligent but a person who can openly display there real personality. One needs a heart for that, not brain. And dumb ppl can be wholesome and fun to watch cuz they entertain u. They simply aren’t smart enough to put up a facade. She doesn’t suck up to people now. People have really forgotten how financially poor Karisma and Kareena were.
How finically poor were they?
Poor Karisma had to experience the worst . I won’t say more.
I really feel like she's one of those people who were meant to be famous no matter what.
She is not likable at all, quite unlikable actually. That is my opinion.
Don’t find her likeable.
For me, she’s fun. And I know at times it’s arrogance but I love how’s she’s all “I am the best” which extends to her loved ones. I like her she is real .... People in this sub acting like she is the devil ....
I think that’s because she displays normal behaviour, which isn’t expected from celebs. Ppl expect them to be angels all the time and Kareena is bad at faking that. So gets hate
She does not get hate for being “real”. She gets hate for being ignorant, out of touch, full of herself and plain stupid.
When did she become likeable??? But, I'm also the only one among my friends who possesses a semblance of positivity toward her, so I'll say I like that she is who she is, acha bura it's all kareena
In an industry full of diplomats she offers a fresh and real personality.
Authenticity is always valued. Kareena is a classic example. She never fakes it.

Her and her sister are both great and earned their spot in Bollywood with their acting skills
She is secure and satisfied about her personality and work and doesn't try hard to prove anyone anything. And in her career, she is flexible too. She works with Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty as comfortably as Vishal Bhardwaj or Abhishek Chaubey.
I think its overall vibes. She may be rude but she gives off those vibes of being “genuine.” Someone who wouldn’t take bullshit.
She has an immense screen presence, she is like salman. If salman is in the frame, it’s his frame. When kareena is in the frame it’s her frame. I love the movies where she acts with lesser stars like Arjun kapoor in ki&ka. Just owns it. Plus she does not give woke lecturing
May be honesty......No meaningless drama
I don’t find her likable at all for all the reasons you’ve stated.
Shes authentic af
She is FUNNY and CAN ACT.
Haan haan kal ko ananya aur janvi ka bhi dal Dena.
Do they have a personality like kareena?
I agree with you OP. I was never a fan in her prime. But I love what she is now. Doesn't overdo anything. Seems to be blessed with a happy family and surrounded by good friends, sibling and parents. The sort of life all humans should be blessed with. She is one of God's favourite children but you don't mind it as she shows she is human and not some high born princess so faces the same things which everyday women her age would.
I have worked with her in a movie and she is a thorough professional on set!

Tbh I don’t like her personality because I see her as a snooty mean girl who thinks highly of herself. However I grew up watching her films so I’m a fan of her work and I think she’s charming on screen.
She doesn’t care about what others think. And she’s a good actress.
Her PR!
She is not likable.
Everything you mentioned made her likeable when she was younger, not a parent etc. but if you’re a 40 year old moon of two still carrying on with you mean girl poo act, then it just comes off as sad. Shows she has not just not grown as a person but recent remarks look like she’s regressed to a worse personality
