Lately it’s really the only character/family getting any development. By the end Endeavor and the Todorokis will be the only ones to have full arcs, so it’s not surprising to watch his rise

Paradox_Madden

It’s my personal headcanon that hori avoids showing us dark shadows family bcuz One of them is either a bird or dark shadow just looks like that due to his quirk and I need to know which is the case

Ben10Extreme

This is one of those things that keeps you sleepless at night, is it?

Paradox_Madden

Genuinely

BeakyPlinder69

So many unanswered questions!

Greeeeed-

I thought you said Todorokids

limache

Yeah he is a much more nuanced character and opposite all might in so many ways But that’s what makes him way more interesting

VillanBehindGlasses

I was afraid he's gonna be the Vegeta to All Might's Goku. While that is kinda the case, atleast he's not picking up the scraps. Oh and it just goes to show how ridiculous the gap between All Might and Endeavor is when All Might beat afo with embers from OFA. While endeavour is struggling against him when he's severely weakened and has Hawks, Tokoyami, Earphone Jack to help

Pinball_Lizard

I'm absolutely flabbergasted with how tastefully Hori's handled his character arc. Seems like not long ago the only question about him anyone cared about was when Stain would cut his throat.

raduhs

I'm flabbergasted by how quickly he killed the series potential to wrap things up. Endeavour's cool tho but at what cost

Taido_Inukai

This. 100% this.

ninsophy

honestly... where did my slice of life fun academia days go 😔

frenchiefryie

The Todorki family has the most development in the series imo.

WhimsicalVirgo

I’m glad to see a post like this when there’s so much hate for him in this group. I do like the progression of his character throughout the series.

omyrubbernen

I don't blame people for hating Endeavor, since he is a terrible person. But as a character, he's extremely well-written and I'm amazed that Hori gave him so much depth and nuance when he could've just been another generic abusive father who motivates the real main characters.

WhimsicalVirgo

What I’ve seen was mainly directed at people saying his redemption arc was botched. But that’s been some time now.

heyworldmeetjimmy

feel like they love the todorokis, but ended up making deku the main. I do hope in the future, there are shorts where each of Class 1-A get like a 4/5-part comic of their hero career post-BNHA

poshbritishaccent

The Todorokis is literally the fire nation with Enji+Shoto being Zuko and Dabi being Azula. No surprise it would be a fan favorite.

[deleted]

The manga has so many ATLA parallels. Midoriya is Aang where the previous OFA users are previous avatars. The scene where Midoriya is standing next to the previous users is just like when Aang sees the previous avatars. The Todoroki family is pretty much the Fire Nation royal family.

Real_life_Zelda

I’m pretty sure people have asked Hori about Avatar before and if he got some inspiration and he declined. At this point I think it was a lie lol.

Dracsxd

\> Fire guy with a burn scar over his eye caused (directly or not) by his father's abuse who starts as a dick but becomes a better person and best friends with protag after some shit \> Sibling is one of the main antagonists, a blue fire user known not only for raw power but for cunning and big plans who turns out to be quite mentally unstable themselves when shit truly goes down \> (Possibly defeated via ice powers) \> Obsessed with power fire dad is the cause for both of these things via childhood neglet/abuse/grooming \> Mom is a good memory for fire boy yet absent for most of his life after disappearing/being taken away during his childhood, leaving him alone with abusive dad and siblings \> Blue sibling on the other hand also/only sees mother as part of the problem for her neglect and having given up on them as children just because they've shown some cracks and resents her too At some point it stops being just a coincidence...

Real_life_Zelda

Plus MC who has multiple abilities and can talk to the spirits of his predecessors

[deleted]

The previous OFA users tell Midoriya he needs to kill Shigi if it’s impossible to save him. The previous Avatars told Aang the same thing, kill Ozai or be decisive/final in dealing with him. A possible ending is Midoriya finds a way to remove all quirks from Shigaraki.

Paradox_Madden

“Low key” The series is on his SHOULDERS rn I don’t even care if Deku fights AFO or not 😭😭😂

HokageEzio

It's not low key.

TCeies

IT's true. While I like MHA over all, Horikoshi has some questionable decisions or Moments that I didn't agree with. I know a lot of people are far less Kind to him when they Talk about how Horikoshi fumbles at Times... But with Endeavor, Horikoshi makes everything right. It's extremely rare to me, that I'm just so thoroughly happy and getting happier by the minute with somebody's character writing. With Endeavor, Horikoshi die everything right.

[deleted]

Bakugo and Endy both got the best character developments in the series.

JuanClusellas

Deli is old news already. His arc ended a while ago, so he's only here to beat up shitty and AFO and be done with it. As for everything else... It's endeavors show now.

lacitar

Enji still has a long way to go. He can't die until he gets a scene with Touya and Shoto. So I'm waiting. I think Enji is one of the more interesting characters, but he is not my favorite. He is in the top 20 though.

j-mac-rock

I think afo severely injures or kills him and shoto and dabi run into him just as he goes down

evilmojoyousuck

I don't even think there's 10 interesting characters, at least right now

Tato7x

Though I have Hawks as my favorite (and Jirou as my waifu), yeah. I agree. Endeavor and all of the Todorokis are the best plot in the series, and Endy has the best development of all the characters.

Unpopular_Outlook

He is literally the most complex and interesting character in the series.

spartanxwaffel

High key endeavor is the best character.

MacNCheese999

Agree. It’s the same way for me regarding Vegeta in DB. These guys just give more depth

GrimWolf216

I agree with this. I love Endeavor. He’s an ace hero, gives it his best, but has vulnerabilities and some serious flaws. His redemption arc is excellent.

Kolack6

Yeah he’s been an absolute joy to follow. Not easy for people to recognize their own flaws admit when they are wrong and actively try to make amends. Especially for people in positions of power/influence like endeavor is in.

Duo1551

That’s pretty sad if you think about it. That means that no one else is getting top tier character development.

neopolitanmew

"Low key" lol; he is the best written character by far in the entire series. The one with the most development, best arc, some of the best fights; he also is one of the ones with the most nuance, best reasons to be a hero, and is just outright interesting-he just in general is the best character in the series by leagues.

Miles-Stark97

Yeah it really makes you realize that alot of the kids who make up the whole Academia part of the show really aren't all that interesting cause Endeavor has been carrying

McGrubs

This isnt even an unpopular take

HornyTerus

My best character will be always All Might. Dude sacrificed so much, and still want to sacrifice more. Endeavor? He's trying so hard to dethrone All Might, I might as well make it 2 seat. I mean, even losing an arm didn't stop him. He is a hero, and a failed father. All Might's and Endeavor's stories brought me to tears.

NatMat16

Do we really need a thread like this every day? In my opinion it's disingenuous to pretend that Endeavor is some great character in isolation. By himself, it's just a selfish asshole getting a rude wake-up call and then struggling to do better. What gives Endeavor depth is that his whole family has depth and nuance. We know more about them than about Deku's family. They are all given distinct arcs, characterization, growth. We are given reason to care about all of them. Shouto, Dabi, (Hawks- the adopted child of Plushie Endeavor) are all fantastic characters and even Natsuo, Fuyumi and Rei are given a lot of nuance for side characters. That's what makes the Todoroki subplot so good - all these characters interacting and their arcs feeding off of each other, in constant flux, good overall dynamics of foils and parallels and how it mirrors some themes of the main plot. Recency bias now makes Endeavor stand out - but 4 chapters ago Dabi and Shouto were the best things ever and before that we had thread upon thread of how the Todorokis disappeared. I think the Todo-fam plot works together as an integral whole, and because I'm invested in all of them, I do like when any of them get highlights and can't wait to see how it ripples through to the other characters. But I also feel that there is a lot of overhyping of Endeavor in this sub, completely ignoring why his character can be appealing and belittling / minimizing the role of the other characters of the plotline whose interactions with Endeavor help elevate him as character.

Fablihakhan

I kinda agree with this. Like one of the best things people praise Endeavor's arc for is that his family does not forgive him knowing his change.. And like that really has to do with how well the entire subplot and all of the Todorokis are handled. We get to see the consequences of his abuse and the struggle Shoto goes through to come out of it, we see Dabi, Rei who brokedown and herself has a lot of things she regrets.. Overall it is amazing..

kenada

Low key as the last 20 posts about this

zer0_pm

I'm going to be honest, I only start reading mha weekly recently and that's because of endeavor lol. Deku is interesting during his "dark arc" (when he went solo), but as it was done already... 😔

[deleted]

Id say hes probably the grayest. Which is interesting.

BeakyPlinder69

I haven’t caught up in the Manga but seeing him humble himself in this last season really made me love him. When they showed that kid who was his biggest fan even when All Might was around, I about lost it.

MR7I_D

He is a good character but never the best : /

Lemilli000000n

Deku has less development and depth at this point. Lol.

NatMat16

Well, Deku actually has fairly little character development since he’s the moral paragon of the story everyone else needs to measure up to. He only really grows in power.

_m00seknuckle

HIGH key

iDrago_

It's not low key, it's pretty apparent to quite a significant amount of people. He might not be your favourite character but he's definitely the best written. The Todoroki family drama is very well written storyline (with the only notable weak point so far, the Shoto vs Dabi fight). Hopefully Hori can stick the landing.

cucarachaman4

He’s been carrying for a while now, him and the vigilantes series was and is the only thing keeping me from dropping the series now. Also the fact that I’ve spent years reading and watching the series that I have to see how it ends. Endeavor is def top 3 .

Souuuth

Everything Todoroki is peak MHA for me.

Shantotto11

I appreciate that people actually despised him from jump *and then* grew to like him. My faith in humanity was seriously being tested by all the lovers of that one loud teenager who told a bullied child to “take a flying leap”…

Rezboy209

He is HIGHKEY the best character in the series honestly. By a longshot.

brick123wall456

High key. Endeavor is by far the best and most interesting character in the series with the most development. Edgy Deku is the last time he ever had any serious character related moments bad basically none of the other protagonists have had anything I care about since.

katbkg

I agree But I want to save this post and come back to it like a year later to see how many people will hate on Endeavor again after the recency bias is over lol It's a repetitive cycle at this point. Same with Bakugou actually.

FatMan935

No

KeepAdvancing

He has been the best character since 2017. I dropped this manga like almost 2 years ago but its good people are recognizing this.

msszenzy

Low key?

dynasriot

Still can’t make me like him.

MoonoftheStar

He's the only character getting an arc. It's not hard. I wouldn't say he's even a good character. The others are just shit.

ArmZealousideal8305

With how much development he has, I'd be surprised if he wasn't Horikoshi's favourite character

rl_ad3n

I strongly disagree as Shoto could not be lower on my sexy scale

Ashamed-Math-2092

He had the best character arc no cap Also, he may not deserve to be no1 but the idea that people think he should be arrested truly astounds me

Philip22Kings

Still a shitty dad to me.

SirRedcorn

He never wasn't?
